Robert Downey Jr. and Zack Galifianakis in DUE DATE gets a trailer!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. This looks funny as hell to me, but I love Galifianakis and Downey and the prospect of trapping them together in a PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES type of anti-buddy road movie for a couple of hours holds so much promise.
This is Todd Phillips' follow-up to THE HANGOVER and the trailer had me laughing already. I'm sold. What about you?

...when he's carrying some cute creature around.
-
I'm still holding out for a Between 2 Ferns feature.
-
It was good. Much more personal buddy flick than the Hangover. And violence against annoying children is always great.
-
This movie looks so fucking funny and heartfelt at the same time!
-
That's about all I got to say really. Even though it makes me sound like i'm into beastiality or something. Cute dog. Didn't really laugh at the trailer but RDJ is always good to watch in a movie. Could do with a sequel to "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" really.
-
I'm willing to give the people involved the benefit of the doubt, but the trailer definitely didn't hook me like the trailer for The Hangover did.
-
They have brought me such joy. Looking forward to this.
-
for realsssssss
-
ok that is goddamn funny shit. can't wait for this.
-
He's effective in a film, but his stand-up is horrible. The joke is always on the audience.
-
i dream of a sequel to that film
-
I love Downey, but this trailer's all about Zach, and though he seems to THINK he's funny, there's not a laugh in the trailer.
-
And I'm on Netflix so I don't pay by the movie.
-
No hyperbole. I cannot ever remember laughing this hard in a movie theater. Tops The hangover. Might write up a review.
-
Anybody get that vibe? i was expecting Downey to hold up a pair of Galifinakis' tighty whities at some point
-
this looks as awful as the soloist.
-
oh and... Is Zack gay?
-
Where's the "funny" ???? What The Fuck, Todd??
-
Now I'm angry. Does Todd Phillips make something good (Old School) then something GOD AWFUL (Starsky and Hutch) every single time? Is this his pattern? Looks that way.

What the hell is everyone complaining about? That opening gag was funny.

Here's hoping it's funny all the way through, as opposed to the Hangover, which bored me in its second half. Same with Old School.
-
The opening 'my dad left' was the only part that had me laughing out loud. That said, I think Quint or someone said that this was one of those movies where all the funniest parts can't be shown in the trailer because of f-bombs and whatnot. I hope so.
-
Yeah PJoseph, some people don't like all the same things you like. What a world, I tells ya.
-
I've seen terrorist beheading videos with more laughs than this trailer.

Zack Galifanakis .... your next
Seth Rogen. look for him in every movie over the next two years. -
Those that don't think it's funny obviously haven't laughed at themselves because they are too "smart" for that. *roll eyes

What, it's a crime not to laugh at this trailer then?
by christian_bale_trashed_my_lights
What's with all these comments telling others what they have to find funny? Didn't find it funny myself but i ain't gonna slap you down if you do. *Rolls eyes*
-
Well, SNL at least. Trailer's funny.

Whoever said this trailer was all about Galifanakis...
by blackbauer0320
...was spot on. And I'm guessing people will basically be divided on this movie depending on whether they find him amusing or not. Personally, I thought he made The Hangover. I find his weirdness extremely comedic, especially the small details like wearing a pair of stupid sunglasses with a tag still hanging off it. Also, the way he can deliver a line like "you better check yourself before you wreck yourself" in a completely serious manner. For those reasons, that trailer definitely appealed to me. However I can certainly understand others not feeling the same way. Everyone has different favorite flavors of comedy.
-
This movie should be worth seeing at the theater.
-
The first half of the trailer was a little slow, but the drainage ditch and "check yourself before you wreck yourself" got a good LOL.
-
considering they are your standard fare mainstream/frat boy comedies and his stand-up is the antithesis of that. Though all of the other alt comics he's friends with have done all of these mainstream movies and animated films, so what do I know?
-
honestly, Downey comes across as the funny one in this mess ... there is NOTHING funny about Zack, he has funny lines he does nothing with, it's all been seen before and done better before, so why does he get all this attention? He plays characters funny in the script, but when he's playing them it's like watching a corpse try to act.
-
Yay his films make a lot of money but I haven't laughed once even with these hilarious actors in them...I thought they were funny when I was in middle school but not now....love me some Zach, but not with this Hangover "i'm a wierdo who says akward things" charcther....let him sit between 2 ferns!
-
So it means the sheep will flock and make it a hit.
-
watching this trailer I couldn't help thinking how great Downey would be as the bad guy in Batman 3, maybe Riddler, maybe something else. Just with his wonderful timing and oddball mannerisms he could give us a performance on the level of Heath's Joker. Only perhaps Depp could match him, but he tends to be a little too cartoonish.

Iron Man... how far you've fallen.
by ooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuutttttlllllaaaaa
No thanks.
-
Not even close. I'm sure the rubes and sheep in the theater audience on a Friday night will eat that trailer up though.
-
Zack is very funny. his stand up is steve martin-esque. let's get small type of shit.
i'm guessing comedy will ensue -
But Philips makes great funny movies and I likes the RDJ...ZG is funny too esp his "that's so raven" joke
-
is that there seems to be an anti-cinema vibe growing on the site.
-
How many Crying Monkeys was this film awarded?
-
I smell Oscar
-
because I always feel like the only one who doesn't find his movies anywhere NEAR as funny as everyone else does. Whenever A movie of his comes out, I find it to be serviceable, but everyone else treats it like it's the be all and end all of comedy. People throw out stuff like "BEST COMEDY I'VE SEEN IN TEN YEARS!!!" Then I want to fucking pull my hair out because frat boys won't stop quoting it. I love RDJ and Zach G., but we'll see if Phillip's brand of mediocrity will overtake their collective genius.
-
It's Zach, not "Zack."
-
Philips is the best comedy director we got...not sayin Hangover was that funny but I can rewatch it
-
Two things aren't arguable. Humor and Sex. If I think something's Funny or Sexy and you don't, there's no way I can convince you you're wrong.
-
how funny Chris Farley was.
-
this movie has all the elements for it to be right up my alley... yet I didn't get a single laugh from that trailer. and i'm high as hell. hopefully its just a case of a poorly fashioned teaser, and the final product lives up to its potential.

Sometimes when I see somebody do something idiosyncratic or odd.
by kjmad25
... I'll look at them and say "That's so Raven"
-
And Jamie Foxx hasn't been funny since In Loving Color.
-
You're right, that "Check yourself before you WRECK yourself!" delivery was pretty great. Also I got a chuckle out of the truck bed gag. Overall it just seemed like they were trying too hard, but hopefully that's just the trailer and not the movie.

If it's as good as trailor--GREAT! If not, FUCK THIS MOVIE!!

Sold!!
-
By the Way. Saying these movies are for frat boys only tells everyone that your a student that hasn't developed the ability to categorize a movie outside of the microcosm of your dorm room. Your opinion is instantly irrelevant. There isn't a single person under 35 in the trailer, so how is it a frat boy movie? Todd Phillips made 2 movies about college so EVERY movie he does is for frat boys? How weak minded is that shit?
-
from this movie.
-
I enjoyed Zack in The Hangover but unless I see something that changes my mind, this is a rental. And I like both men...
-
This wasn't funny, nor was The Hangover. Am I laugh-impaired because I'm a kind of comedian myself? I get the LOLZ from other stuff, like The Office, that image where Keanu Reeves is eating a sandwich, then the bird, then himself, & that part at the end of Ace Ventura where Ace ducks & gives Ray Finkle a backhand.
-
Wasn't sold until a scene caused me to laugh so quickly I blew spit. I just don't do that.
-
Quick, everyone! Hate him before the rest of internet beats us to it!
-
Far better than the overrated Hangover. Loved it. I could watch it over n' over.
-
They're both great.
-
Also, just because it's directed by the guy who made the Hangover doesn't mean it's going to be hilarious - that movie was incredibly overrated.
-
period. assholism as a form of comedy is for emotionally-stunted idiots. and not the good kind of idiots. but the ones with weird misshaped black hearts.
-
I'm sold this looks fun and funny

I did not find it amusing, funny, humorous or entertaining.
by snake foreskin
I am surprised that Downey would sign on for this crap at this stage of his career. Okay, that's a damn lie. He'll do anything that might get him a little more blow money. And he still has to pay off the production and distribution costs of that terrible music album he made. Yikes!
-
Or the characters. Or the actors. Or the name. But other than that, it's Midnight Run.
-
THAT would have been about the right level of talent for this shite.
-
Starring David Hasselhoff and Vern Troyer.
-
Comedy gold.

Unless you count Chico, his illegitimate sone who went on to star with The Man, and give birth to Freddie Prinze Jr, then off himself.
