Cool News
Hey Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day, why so serious?
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes pic!
There’s a few BTS pics from The Dark Knight that have made their way to me over the last week or so, and apparently one of them was photoshopped. I have no eye for that kind of thing, which is pretty bad for someone in this field, I know, but luckily I have a few TDK images.
Here's one of the Joker hanging around!

If you have a pic you think should be included email me. I’m looking for the iconic, the rare, the just plain cool behind the scenes shots to feature here.
You can never have enough clowns, so I got another one for ya’ tomorrow! See ya’ then!

I'm lame... I know.
-
you can see a bottle of Ambien falling to the ground.....hmmmm....too soon?
-
... thanks. R.I.P. Heath.
-
It looks like the moment when Joker was kicking a downed Batman, but someone Photoshopped a skateboard into the picture.
-
FAKE
-
I just don't see how you could ollie that close to a top actor and not worry about coming down on his leg. Seems criminally negligent to me.
-
Its actually from a deleted/alternative scene, where the Joker defeats Batman by kick flipping, 360 pop shuving it, and hardflipping. Batman tries to do a bar hop on the Batpod but flips out.

it would be nice to see MORE behind the scenes stuff of Heath
by thatfilmlover
since I've seen next to nothing of him as the Joker out of character, would love to see that stuff, I don't remember anything on the Dark Knight DVD/Blu-ray am i wrong?
-
You're not paying attention.
-
I mean...you and I are destined to do this forever.
-
had no idea that upside down shot was green screen, awesome.
-
...wanted to go out of the movie and therefore hammed his performance up as much as he could in hopes of getting fired. Even I would find it sad if this would be true. (Not because I'm a fan of Ledger or his Joker, if you know me you know that I think that Ladger was a bland actor and his Joker was unbearable, but because of the bitter, bitter irony.)

I worked with Eric Roberts shortly after Heaths death. He told me that Heath would come up to him and ask how he was doing.
Roberts responded by saying "You're doing good kid."
Heath replied "This acting is tough!"
-
Awesome Pic, Heather Ledger was the man!
-
Awesome pic. Still missin ya, Heath.
-
If you were arrested with make up on your face, wouldn't the police wipe the make up off to try to find out who you are? Anyone out there ever been arrested while wearing make up?
-
i was confused going through the comments with all this talk about a skateboard and photoshop. then i got to the point that mentioned the photo was changed so confusion has left me.
-
Not long after the movie came out the police in a town near here (I think) arrested a kid who was trying to steal movie posters from the theater. He had his face painted up like the Joker and the cops took his mug shot with it on. I think there were some other stories floating around of dumb ass teenagers doing similar things while painted up. All their mugshots had the paint on.
-
dude...it was a comic book movie with a billionaire vigilante who dresses like a bat and fights endless amounts of mobsters and henchmen.....I don't think they're worrying about real life police procedures at that point.
-
...seen it before.
-
had to kill Quint because he made a mistake....
-
Most jails if you're just in the holding cell they really don't care what you look like, makeup or not.
-
I keep looking for Omen-style clues of their impending doom.

Can someone tell me if the picture Quint posted was the first or the second one?

I'm finding it hard to believe he thought that skateboarding picture was real. -
Was it the actual Photoshopped skateboarding one or the one of him kicking Bale? I find it hard to believe Quint would think the picture of Ledger skateboarding in full costume was real.
-
for making Joker cool again.why so serious?
-
I get a little sad, just think about the career that guy would be having now had he lived, he gave the performance of a lifetime at the end of his life, how does that not make one sad?

here's the image that was on this page first: http://tinyurl.com/ycq5998
here's the unphotoshopped version of it (that proved it was fake): http://tinyurl.com/yd3r4ew -

If I was an actor about to break into the mainstream, and I got an offer to play a comic book character in white mime/clown facepaint, I'd be more than a little hesitant to take the role. -
Rumors. In interviews right after TDK wrapped up and shortly before his death, you could tell how excited Heath was about his work as The Joker. He claimed it was the most fun he'd ever had and probably ever would have. Sadly he was right.
-
Pic of the day. You know, the copter one? Or how about a behind the scene shot from Captain Ron.
-
Showing Spielberg directing.
-
I still go back to it every now and then as a reminder of just how shocked everyone here was of his death....and every time I see Heresy's comment "Completely sucks about Heath, but did Gilliam take a dump in an indian burial ground or something? Has anyone had worse luck on movies?" It still makes me laugh.

WHY ISNT THERE MORE BEHIND THE SCENES PICS OF DARK KNIGHT?!
by kickyouinthenickels
is there a website link of behind the scene pics of the dark knight?

Hence the lack of set photos on a lot of his films. At least this was the impression I got from reading the American Cinematographer article on Inception.

Batman Begins = Fear
The Dark Knight = Escalation
Batman 3 = Redemption? -
I did a Google search for the skateboard picture that was apparently posted before the current picture, and I refuse to believe anyone thought that was real. I think today's original entry opens a floodgate for people sending Quint ridiculous photo-shopped images: Michael Bay directing Transformers with a teenage girl on his lap....oh so many photo-shop possibilities...

one of the best movie performances ever

Seriously, right? Nice to see Brandon's not forgotten. I dunno if he would've ever won Oscar gold, but it would've been great if he'd had the chance to try.
-
do you actually move down to the next paragraph on here. I press return and it looks sufficient then it posts like that?

That's kinda the thematic trajectory I'm feelin' as well...

There's just something unnatural about the way his clothes and hair are hanging. Also the green sheets are quite uneven. looks unprofessional.

The similarity's between Lee and Ledger where pretty startling..
by connor187
I remember seeing a trailer for The Crow back in the day on Sky Movies US movie chart. The voice over guy, talking about the movie before the trailer played, happen'd to mention that it was Brandon Lee's final film. Thats all he said and the trailer played. (I didn't know what he meant, I was 11) I thought The trailer was fucking brilliant, it struck a cord with me, but I also possessed a desire to find out what had happen'd to Lee. After finding out to my horror what happen'd on that set, I was intrigued. It might of been the irony of it all, (Art imitating life etc) I am not sure, but I became pretty obsessed about that film. It kind of shaped me, I mean I didn't become a goth or anything but I found the dark part of my soul defiantly....Long story short...I felt exactly the same intrigue towards The Dark Knight when I heard about Ledger. I mean I was already anticipating this film like no other, but when the sad news was broadcast I felt that same 11 year old feeling all over again. Its funny how film can effect your life. I pity the souls who don't get it.
-
Not hating on Lee or anything, but I don't think his performance in the Crow was Oscar worthy. He was cool enough, and obviously knows his way around a fight scene (thanks, dad!), but other than that, and his tragic fate, it's a pretty forgettable role and performance.
-
I was a bit of a fan of Lee before The Crow. I am talking Showdown in little Tokyo, Rapid Fire etc. He had charm back then, even if his acting was a little wooden. The Crow (like people have said on here) could/would of changed Hollywood's perception on him I think. He played a character without rules (hello Joker) a character on the edge, a character with a kind of fire in his eyes. I mean I don't think it was oscar worthy, not at all. but it was very effective.....Best scene in The Crow to use as example? The Giddeon's pawn shop scene.

Looks like I choose the wrong day to stop sniffing glue!

DO YOU HAVE A PIC OF ZOOEY AND JGL EATING LUNCH ON SET?
by bringingsexyback
I will fucking explode if you do.
-
...should have gotten the Oscar (or even a nomination) for the Crow, but I'd disagree about it not being a memorable performance or role. Good or bad, the guy is going to be forever associated with the role, and for what it was-- a pat revenge comic book revenge story with a gothy spin-- I think he knocked it out of the park. If you want forgettable, look at the actors in all the sequels. Lee was what made that movie work as well as it did. -

THE CROW WAS ONE OF THE MOST AFFECTING MOVIES IN MY LIFE
by bringingsexyback
I was pretty devastated when Lee died, so looking forward to him making some big movies and especially to watching The Crow. I was glad they did release it. I'm sure he would've wanted us to see it.
-
why? Because anything non-Joss Whedon is a non-EVENT
-
Ledger looks like something from another planet. Love it.
-
have Birthdays today? That's so cool!
-
Who got turned in his late 60s, early 70s. It's the only way to explain that he's looked 60ish/70ish for nearly 30 years. I'm sure he'll still look like that, and still be acting, long after we're all dead.
-
Maybe it's a British thing? FAR-REAKY.
-
as Pennywise from It, or some FX shot of the evil clown doll from Poltergeist...
-
Ledger is dead, you insensitive assholes.
-
Every 5th comment will be I warned him
-
Your 500 days quotes from different movies always make me laugh. Whay have you stopped? Haven't seen one in a while.
-
That scene looked really real.
-
...that heath ledger is gone, i just want to kick whichever olsen twin it was, that was with him the night he dided, in her ugly fucking face.
-
Hey I appreciate that. I did a couple of Hulk ones a couple of days ago ... and I'm working on one for when MJ_Corpse is due to get his ass kicked at Comic-Con. I hope Harry's comp is fixed by then so he can report about the carnage ...

waste their time creating fake behind the scenes photos? And I thought I needed a life...

What happened to him?

Ledger was a good actor for sure. His Joker is way overrated though.
-
After yesterday I almost feel as though I MUST post that for every single one of these.
-
Must be a good reason. In any case..purpleisthenewgreen.com

I think that green color is less likely to be in the shot, say, on someone's clothes.

Coming soon!

LOL -
I love the synopsis:
Devil is a supernatural thriller with M. Night Shyamalan’s signature touch.
-
and the green ones don't.
-
I see the story is by him but not the screenplay. Is that normal?
-
I only was familiar with the parody on Seinfeld, but I hear tell he loved it.
-
"Devil is a supernatural thriller with M. Night Shyamalan’s signature touch." .... touch of suckage!
-
don't hold your breath for that one penis licker. You might have to step up to that plate
-
Y'know... that thing photographers need to make a living?
-
of the Joker on a skateboard in one of the trailers for the Dark Knight?
-
Blue screen is generally used when doing traditional optical work with film and an optical printer.
Green screen is used when doing optical work in a CG/video environment.
Because FX elements are now compiled and even created in a computer, and add to that many films are using digital cameras on set, green screen has pretty much supplanted blue screen. Except in instances when you are shooting say a soldier with green fatigues and green camouflage paint where it would be difficult to separate the green subject from the green screen background. -
I'll never understand the complains about the batsuit for BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT. I can understand the complains of the actor and stunts that have to use it. But from the viewers, not so much.
-
It's a catch 22 though. He gave the performance of his life right before he died, but it was because he died that it was the performance of his life.
-
you thought that skateboard pic was real? Think it might be time to either shut down the ol' column, or hand over the reins. Sorry chap.
-
quint really thought the skateboard pic wasn't photoshopped? weeeeeeak. mandrakeroot is right, either shut down the column or hand the controls over to someone a little more competent
-
Isn't that one of the positions Heath mastered for his Brokeback Mounting role?
-
For all time.
-
My buddy was an extra on TDK and he said that Heath was a very nice but quiet guy. He used to hang out and smoke with the extras on set. He was also very serious about the role and was said to remain in character a lot. He also said that Heath cameos in a background scene in the MCU as someone in a line up. I've never seen that and perhaps it was removed in the final cut. Sounded like a nice guy. RIP.
-
Yeah but if you're saying that to TRY and annoy me it's not as annoying as people just randomly saying it. So go ahead.
-
Hanging upside down for hours can't be good for your brain cells.
-
thats a pic of the crime scene cleanup crew.
-
Damn...great career move, kid!
-
I see the genius involved in writing, acting an directing the Joker in TDK. And this scene made me dizzy in IMAX!! RIP Heath.
-
I can't believe some people are telling Quint to shut down the column or have someone else do it because he thought the skateboard picture was real. That's ridiculous. This is a cool and fun little column, and I don't think he should have to quit doing it because of one, harmless and quickly corrected mistake.
-
...but not today." ToD is a great Indy film. Raiders is the best. Last Crusade is good, KOTC has some fine moments, is entertaining overall but has some real flaws, yes the weakest but not bad enough to ruin the series as some of my fellow talkbackers feel. Just my humble opinion, tell me to fuck off if you feel differently...
-
...I'm bored at work so am catching up on AICN, especially the behind the scene photo articles; I have two windows open at the same time, one with the Temple of Doom photo story and the other The Dark Knight joker photo- I signed on and commented on the wrong article!!!!! Let the abuse begin...still I stand behind my comments around Indy films...LOL!
-
It was the publics fascination with dead celebrities, that catapulted this film to financial success and critical acclaim. Open your fucking eyes and ears sheep.
-
There was huge buzz about Ledger's Joker BEFORE he died. The performance was amazing. Period.
-
this picture got posted until now, very awesome picture!
-
well, thanks for posting it on the night of the living dead bts pic!
