BOB’S BURGERS/ARCHER Star Jon Benjamin Lands New Comedy Central Series!!
I am – Hercules!!
The hilarious Jon Benjamin, already busy playing the lead in two series – FX’s “Archer” and Fox’s upcoming “Bob’s Burgers” – just received a 10-episode order for a third.
Comedy Central’s “Jon Benjamin Has A Van” is a live-action faux newsmagazine from Funny Or Die, inspired by videos Benjamin created for a live comedy show.
Benjamin has a long history with Comedy Central, stretching from his improvisational work as son Ben Katz on “Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist” to his stint as writer-producer and second banana on the recently-cancelled “Important Things With Demetri Martin.”
On the Cartoon Network, Benjamin was Satan on “Lucy, Daughter of the Devil” and Coach McGuirk on “Home Movies”:

The way they jacked that Mohammed South Park episode was deplorable, even censoring the final "you know, I've learned something today" scene because they were shaking in their boots from both radical Muslims and conservative bigots who hate all Muslims, radical or otherwise. They fuckin' censored the anti-censorship speech. Too bad Trey and Matt were scared shitless of the legions of suit-wearing, briefcase-carrying flying monkeys (i.e. lawyers) CC would've unleashed if they went in breach of their contract. If I was them, I'd churn out nothing but Terrance and Philip episodes next season, see how Comedy Central likes that. Oh wait, they'd probably love it. Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, what are you doing on such a shitty network?

He always sounds the same in anything he does (archer, venture bros, home movies, bob's burgers?), but I really only found it to work in home movies and Archer. Oh man, Archer has so many great lines and he delivers them well. I need to watch it right now!

I love this guy, he is hysterical in everything he does. Coach McGuirk is one of my favorite cartoon characters of all time! The man is outta his mind funny. I will watch anything he's in, just love how he delivers a line. Fuckin gold! ;) Can't wait to see this

You do realize that Jon & Brendan played like almost EVERY other character on Home Movies & they didn't all sound like the same person, to me anyway. He played Jason on Home Movies too who sounds nothing like McGuirk, just sayin

I literally just watched all of Archer over the past two days. So sad I missed it when it was on the air. I hope it last longer than most of Adam Reed's shows.

I too never saw a story (especially on this site) about its cancelation. I can't say I'm surprised. After Comedy Central moved it to midnight and gave its time slot to South Park reruns I figured it didn't have too long. Too bad though. I thought the last season of IMPORTANT THINGS and THE SARAH SILVERMAN PROGRAM were the best so far.

Maybe if they didn't pound the shit out of their network with endless reruns, they might have ratings good enough to support nifty shows like Impotent Things and Sarah Silverman is the Worst Person Alive. At least Ugly Americans seems to be getting a second season (or they're pissing money away on a Comic-Con panel for nothing). I fear quick death for my beloved Futurama though.<p>Anyway, nice to see that after DECADES of obscurity, H. Jon Benjamin is now being given too many jobs to count. Even my 12-year-old niece knows who he is thanks to his work as Carl the convenience store clerk on Family Guy. Although I still think his inclusion on Venture Bros doesn't quite fit.

Archer is one of the most fun things on television, and not just because of Benjamin, but all of the characters are amazing, and each episode brought something new to appreciate and laugh about, as well as all the new characters, cameos, just everything, absolutely top notch. HURRY UP ARCHER!!

He is an extremely clever and funny guy, but his brand of comedy is more like a favorite warm blanket or something, it's not laugh-out-loud funny, and so it just doesn't really translate very well as a tv show. He is more of a 'performance artist' anyway, and that is really not the kind of thing you can just snap off every week. It takes time to refine that stuff.

I know the didn't run long, but this was such a classic. How you can not have episodes like the Jesus/Satan karaoke duet and the vampire altar boys on a DVD set is absolutely beyond me.

As long as Archer remains on the air for a couple more seasons at least, I'm fine with Benjamin having as many series as he can handle. He's a talented guy. Been a fan since Home Movies.

...and I bust a gut laughing while all my friends sat there with quizzical expressions. I like wry, low key humor. His show wasn't as funny, granted I never saw more than 2 episodes due to CC's constant rescheduling. This so-called "network" survives on Jon Stewart, Colbert and South Park, everything else is filler as far as they're concerned.

My first band was called Ben Katz Cult. That guy's delivery of nearly every line kills me. Hope his new show is a hit.

That is not the only reason Jason sounds different from McGuirk, seriously, try watching the show again. I own every episode of the show and have seen them all dozens of times. They did the same thing with Brendan's voice, but his voice doesn't sound much different than it does in real life... duh
