Today's Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day is for the birds!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes pic!
I love me some Hitch and there is a TON of BTS stuff from The Birds. So much of Hitch posing with ravens, etc, but this one jumped out to me. It’s a candid moment between Hitch and Tippi Hedren where the photographer seemed to be in the right place at the right time as pigeons launch around the room like a John Woo movie.

If you have a pic you think should be included email me. I’m looking for the iconic, the rare, the just plain cool behind the scenes shots to feature here.
Tomorrow brings a real fuckin’ clown. See ya’ then!

of birds AND suspense.
-
keep it up man. Little slices of film history. Lovin' it.
-
every single photo shown in this new feature of yours Quint have been awesome.
-
gets attacked by the swarm after swarm of birds, Hitch trying to duplicate the same frenzy (no pun intended) of the shower scene in Psycho. But a powerfully staged and edited scene just the same.
-
What a great column and photo.
-
Hopefully it's been shot down in flames...

Look at the light play on the blad heads.

I learned this on the Superbad commentary.
-
It was the first time i had worked with Hitchcock, even though i had known him for 2 years prior. The man was simply a genious and one of the most professional men i have ever had the joy of collaborating with. I've always thought of penning a bio pic of him but i honestly don't think i could do his legend justice, he had to be experienced to be believed

this is picture of the premiere not behind the scenes or during the shoot.

The birds are so perfectly "posed" the look composited in.

your a d-bag
-
Jett, what in the hell is wrong with you?

a) picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue
b) forgot to take his meds...AGAIN
c) Had an unfortunate blender accident, has never been the same
d) going a bit far with the Hitchcock connection...say within the last two decades dude.
e) Had a wicked fall and bumped his head without his "special" helmet

right up there with Grace Kelly as one of the most beautiful women ever to appear on film. Hedren was simply breathtaking in her prime, and Birds was her debut film! Just watched The Birds recently on cable, it's as great as ever. I really like the first part, the set-up. Usually in a spectacle movie that's pretty boring but Hitch and the screenwriter did it really well. Interesting scenes and sharp dialogue. Then...the Birds swoop in. BWAHAHA
-
just that - thank you. Love these photos.
-
Thanks Quint, this is by far the best feature ever run on AICN. Would love to see more

Almost single handedly restoring the reputation of this site with this column - could still do with some decent news tho...

He once said he worked on Metropolis as well as the 1933 King kong... Clearly the guy is either imortal or insane, you be the judge
this pic is pretty cool, but the doves look like CGI

I heard he was a Dunadan -- confirm/deny?

sad day indeed
-
I like these pics too but most of the post on the talkbacks for this feature are:
"Great job Quint, keep it up."
"Dude finally a reason to get excited about this site."
"Loving all these pics, well done."
Post about the picture. We get it. You like the new feature. You remind me of the type of people that sit through a meal and comment after every bite how good the food tastes. Just eat it.
The first couple of pics it was ok but the feature isn't going away, you don't have to say the same shit in every talkback.

You're welcome.

After the Birds, the rest of the 60's were a wash for Hitch. I still like his last two films Frenzy and Family Plot. I still wonder if those rumors about him propositioning Hedron on the set of Marnie are true.

HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray debate?

Must be a slow month.

...hoping you haven't abandoned Movie a Day/Week/Month...loved that too.

Great leading man

don't ever stop, man.
-
could be closer if i really tried
-
Stop the nice stuff. Why would you want to show some appreciation for something you like? Where EVERYONE is FORCED to read it? Why? Can't we bitch and moan about EVERYTHING? Keep positivity outta the talkbacks. We don't need it here.

Girlfucker!

Not a spear, an arrow.

Without a doubt Sir Alfred Hitchcock is one of my all time favorite movie Directors! There are so many of his films which are awesome to watch even to this day (Psycho, Lifeboat, Vertigo, Dial M for Murder, North By Northwest...just to name a few). However, it's his movie "The Birds" which will forever hodl a special spot in my heart...growing up as a little kid in the early 70ies there were a number of intense Adult themed movies I was able to watch due to little or no parental supervision...I am talking "Dirty Harry" (which was pretty damn violent for it day and time! now it is just one of the many cool iconic Clint eastwood movies), "Tales from The Crypt", "Night of The Living Dead" (The "Uncut" version ran late night on Creature Feature with Bob Wilkins freaked me out! LOL!) and Sir Alfred Hitchcocks "the Birds" I was completely mesmorized at an early age with the story telling and the way the movie was filmed and of course all those damn scary Birds too! :) But what made it really cool and special was that it was filmed in a small Northern California fishing town called Bodega Bay (which was steepeled in Whaling and Russian settler/local Cali history) and to take a trip from the Russian River/Guernville area out to the Coast and visit Bodega Bay where the movie was shot? See the old School House and some of the areas that appear in the movie? Well, that was a pretty cool thing to do and really memorable and impressionable on a little kid who idolized all things filled with suspense, scariness, monsters and all things terrorizing! Thank you for sharing some behind the scenes phots of a VERY cool film!

Oh, it's been awhile since I saw it.

George Lucas is planning another SW special edition in which he plans to insert a CG JettL into particular scenes.
-
I thought JettL was planning that edition; writing some new dialogue, working closely with the ILM wizards on the effects, replacing every crew member's name in the credits with JettL....y'know, the usual.
-
This is all over the cables right now. I have watched it within the week and have found it has held up well since the last time I saw it about six months ago.
The archetype "Hitchcock ending", God bless him.
-
...couldn't agree more. I was always a big fan of Taylor's.
-
Leo's character from Shutter Island, drifting in and out of reality.

That is all!

Already saw this on AICN back in 1963 when it was new. Seriously this column should not be weaved in with actual 'news' unless this site really is becoming Wasn't It Cool News...

if you think it's lame to post positive feedback about liking the column, fuck you. I ran a site for years and it was ALWAYS appreciated when people told you what they were enjoying on your site. If I like something, I say so...if I dont, i say so.....thats how I roll, you cant change me.

don't you know? asking for positivity on AICN talkback is an exercise in futility.

This site is starting to feel like /Film. Please don't post stupid pictures of ironic film T-shirts next.

I saw a screening of this in Seattle a few years back that Tippi Hedren presented. She talked at length about the movie and Hitchcock and said a lot of unpleasant things about him, saying that he was obsessed with her. On and on. It felt unsavory, especially with him being dead for 30-something years and unable to defend himself.
