Today's Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day is for the birds!

Published at:  Jul 12, 2010 1:05:46 PM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes pic!

I love me some Hitch and there is a TON of BTS stuff from The Birds. So much of Hitch posing with ravens, etc, but this one jumped out to me. It’s a candid moment between Hitch and Tippi Hedren where the photographer seemed to be in the right place at the right time as pigeons launch around the room like a John Woo movie.

If you have a pic you think should be included email me. I’m looking for the iconic, the rare, the just plain cool behind the scenes shots to feature here.

Tomorrow brings a real fuckin’ clown. See ya’ then!

    by jettl1993

It was the first time i had worked with Hitchcock, even though i had known him for 2 years prior. The man was simply a genious and one of the most professional men i have ever had the joy of collaborating with. I've always thought of penning a bio pic of him but i honestly don't think i could do his legend justice, he had to be experienced to be believed

right up there with Grace Kelly as one of the most beautiful women ever to appear on film. Hedren was simply breathtaking in her prime, and Birds was her debut film!

Just watched The Birds recently on cable, it's as great as ever. I really like the first part, the set-up. Usually in a spectacle movie that's pretty boring but Hitch and the screenwriter did it really well. Interesting scenes and sharp dialogue. Then...the Birds swoop in. BWAHAHA

I like these pics too but most of the post on the talkbacks for this feature are:

"Great job Quint, keep it up."

"Dude finally a reason to get excited about this site."

"Loving all these pics, well done."

Post about the picture. We get it. You like the new feature. You remind me of the type of people that sit through a meal and comment after every bite how good the food tastes. Just eat it.

The first couple of pics it was ok but the feature isn't going away, you don't have to say the same shit in every talkback.

One of my alltime favorite Hitchcock films

    by arcangel2020

Without a doubt Sir Alfred Hitchcock is one of my all time favorite movie Directors!
There are so many of his films which are awesome to watch even to this day (Psycho, Lifeboat, Vertigo, Dial M for Murder, North By Northwest...just to name a few).
However, it's his movie "The Birds" which will forever hodl a special spot in my heart...growing up as a little kid in the early 70ies there were a number of intense Adult themed movies I was able to watch due to little or no parental supervision...I am talking "Dirty Harry" (which was pretty damn violent for it day and time! now it is just one of the many cool iconic Clint eastwood movies), "Tales from The Crypt", "Night of The Living Dead" (The "Uncut" version ran late night on Creature Feature with Bob Wilkins freaked me out! LOL!) and Sir Alfred Hitchcocks "the Birds"
I was completely mesmorized at an early age with the story telling and the way the movie was filmed and of course all those damn scary Birds too! :) But what made it really cool and special was that it was filmed in a small Northern California fishing town called Bodega Bay (which was steepeled in Whaling and Russian settler/local Cali history) and to take a trip from the Russian River/Guernville area out to the Coast and visit Bodega Bay where the movie was shot? See the old School House and some of the areas that appear in the movie? Well, that was a pretty cool thing to do and really memorable and impressionable on a little kid who idolized all things filled with suspense, scariness, monsters and all things terrorizing!
Thank you for sharing some behind the scenes phots of a VERY cool film!

    by fullrotor

I saw a screening of this in Seattle a few years back that Tippi Hedren presented. She talked at length about the movie and Hitchcock and said a lot of unpleasant things about him, saying that he was obsessed with her. On and on. It felt unsavory, especially with him being dead for 30-something years and unable to defend himself.
