Both pretty overrated in my opinion. 2 guilty pleasure shows with some pretty good performances, but mediocre writing.
-
the acting and series noms werent a surprise but didnt expect the score, writing and directing to be there. but i cant wait to see the bitching over that show if it hasnt already started before this got posted.
-
that guy has been such an acting powerhouse all throughout Lost, so its about damn time he gets some recognition for it!
-
If there was a "Best Taint" award, Admiral Ackbar might still be working today.
-
Really bummed with no Big Bang Theory nod to the comedy category. Hoping Lost will take drama.
-
Here is an idea, No more Emmy Awards.
-
Oversexed redneck vampires really the best television has to offer? I think not.
-
What the fuck emmy's...What the fuck?
-
has the gay theater board of governors automatic vote. Isn't it a drama anyway?
-
It is pure over the top unadulterated comedy.
-
Holy crap, can't believe Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton finally broke through. It's about damn time.
Also liking the LOST love. No bitching from me about that.
Sterling Archer. That's effin' sweet right there.
But uuuugggh. I just can't get past how overrated GLEE is. Jane Lynch is great, but...the writing sucks, the music sucks, the characters suck. I'm forgiving of a lot of crap--but usually that crap doesn't earn 20 nominations and tons of press.
True Blood is almost as bad, too. Okay, maybe it's not actually close to being as bad, but still, it's overrated. Lots of other shows should've taken its place.
There were more worthy shows than The Office, too. This was the season I finally started drifting away. -
at least Chloe Sevigny should have been nominated.
-
and True Blood should have been nominated in the Comedy category. What is NOT funny about True Blood?
-
Best Emmy news by far - Lead Actor, Actress, Writing & Casting nods for FNL. (Just wish they'd also nabbed a Best Drama nod, and a supporting actor for Zach Gilford.)

The reason Big Bang wasn't nominated as best comedy
by redbull_werewolf
Is Because it isn't funny
-
I'm kidding. Sort of. I'm sure they are perfectly nice men but I'll be glad when both thier shows die in a fire.
-
...because even the Emmys have some standards. Seriously, I think Leno was only ever awarded for his first year as host, and as far as best writing goes, the Academy holds Leno's team in about as much esteem as the writers of "Full House". But at least he has a large (and dwindling) old audience.
-
nominated as director of the olympics opening ceremony...thats awesome i hope he wins simply because of his Porn star name
-
Herc got 3 Leno slams in. That is what is important.
-
thought she was great in The Special Relationship but feared Emmy nominators would not see past Quaid's Clinton (also great, mind you).Good for FNL getting lead actor nominations as well as one for writing. About time!Surprised nothing at all for Spartacus. Figured writing and acting (even John Hannah) would be a longshot, but thought for sure it'd get a few in the less high-profile categories - Editing, Sound, Stunt Coordination, Makeup, Costumes, Music.
-
Yeah, I'm happy to see he got nominated. Quite a few reviewers of the finale called that nomination months ago.
-
Gregory Itzin, aka Turkey Neck, got nominated for 24.
A nom for Kiefer would have been highly deserved though. -
How's that alternate reality working out for you?
-
FRAK!!!!
-
It was so much fun to see how he played Locke & Flocke.
-
It definitely deserves the win. Glee kind of fell off in quality in the back 9 episodes. I expect Modern Family will win this.
-
And once again, Breaking Bad will get robbed by Mad Men, because Mad Men is fashionable and because gay Emmy voters love whatever is fashionable
-
Nothing for Grey's AnatomyOnly 1 for Desperate HousewivesOnly 2 writing nominations each for Mad Men & 30 RockNice to see a little more diversity of nominated shows in each category, and not so much of the "it's popular so it must be good" nominations.
-
justified, modern family, and californication FTW
-
...then the Emmy's are officially dead to me.
-
However that doesn't make it good or "Emmy worthy"
-
I fucking love Community, it's hilarious, especially Chevy Chase.
I was trying to show someone the voice command feature on my iPhone the other day and it kept trying to call the wrong people or not recognising the commands. It was so similar to the episode where that happened to Chevy Chase's character I couldn't help but feel a total prat. -
Treme got absolutely robbed of, well everything. So many great performances in that it's hard to know where to start.
-
its a decently made horror/fantasy show about vampires with lots of awesome female nudity. whats to feel guilty about?
-
so much so they gave him the win 2 years in a row (beating out Hamm, Hall, & Laurie both times)
-
not sure when the cutoff date is but didnt that show start rather recently? maybe it was too late for this year's emmys.
-
i watch it but im not sure why. worst acting on tv (now that Lost is done)
-
Nobody gives a shit.
-
Routine, uncreative, laugh-track throwback to 80s shitcoms. Comedy has evolved beyond that and yet Big Bang hangs on to generic mush.
-
Man I really hope that Lost sweeps this just like Return of the King did for the Oscars. Kind of an overall set of awards for the entire series. I expected the Emerson and O'Quinn nominations, but I was pleasantly surprised at Fox for Actor and Mitchell for Guest Actress. The Jack Bender nomination was great also along with Darlton for Writers. I love how the web/DVD special "Mysteries of the Universe" is going up against all of the teeny bopper stuff.
-
Lost deserves nothing, not even a sympathy emmy. WHERE THE FUCK IS 24???????????????
-

Hollywood filled with hookers Two Johns got FUCKED!
by aka_gern_blanston
John Noble for Fringe and John Lithgow for Dexter. Both powerhouse performances that deserved supporting/guest actor noms. Both shut out. Cryin' shame!
-
That just about says it all. I mean it's a good show, but did it really have to hog the supporting actor in a comedy category? Excluding Amy Poehler P&R and Community got no recognition. Both shows are better than 30 Rock and The Office (in their current states).
-
John Lithgow got nominated
-
Date: 1907
: something pleasurable that induces a usually minor feeling of guilt. Source: Mirriam Webster Dictionary. Why does True Blood cause guilt? Because even the people that like it know it sucks. And television shows that suck, whether filled with nudity or not, don't deserve awards. -
is pretty damn funny, still cant believe that jailbait broad is in her 20s though.
-
Despite the near terrible Season 6 I really think it bounced back in top form with seasons 7 + 8 and it's a shame it got locked out. By the end I was actually anticipating the finale for 24 more than Lost.
-
wheres the love?
-
1. John Noble - come on. Worst snub since Clarke Peters on The Wire.
2.Anna Gunn
3.Aaron Paul- see above
I don't know if Treme was too late for consideration or not but if it wasn't then David Simon, Khandi Alexander and Wendell Pierce got seriously screwed -
Take him off my got fucked list
-
I started watching this show recently on Netflix Instant. I'm almost done with season four (since they are removing them on August 1). It's a great show. I'm glad to see it's getting some nominations. Also rooting for "The Office" and "South Park:".
-
Glee isn't funny either, both it and big bang need to get aids and die
-
Therefore Simon, Alexander and Pierce were seriously fucked
-
lets see if it deserves an award when u see the last 10 mins ruin the whole fucking show
-
Community and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are by far the funniest shows on television right now, so of course no noms for them. But what kills me is no love for "Parenthood"? That's a great show all around.

And the Emmy for greatest shark-jump goes to...
by crispin_glovers_acid_flashback
L O S T
-
Fuck you NBC, Fuck you Leno, Fuck you Jeff Zucker and double fuck you Dick Ebersol.
-
Damages was brilliant this season and on-par with S1. I really hope it sweeps the acting categories it's actor's were nominated in.
-
How can a show that campy and lame be considered good, let alone great?o Ooooo, it has vampires and nudity and is sex-soaked. Wow! Big fuckin' deal.
-
He was great as was Glenn Close and Rose Byrne.
-
Deserve to win in those categories in my opinion. All of those other shows have more seasons to go and, whether you liked the show or not, all three of those guys did outstanding jobs.
-
Really? Still sour about the ending? I'm good with the ending, I just think the season itself had tons of filler (that tricked you into thinking it was not filler, at the time). Finale, as a stand alone episode, was great though. Looking forward to what this new mysterday "bonus footage" will be on the blu-ray.
-
I will be pretty pissed especially if he doesn't get an award. Like his character or not, he carried that show and was totally believable. Damon and Lindelof... I'm okay with them NOT winning.
-
I could give a fuck about the emmys... they'll never get it right and i've made peace with that... but above all, who wins or is nominated and who is ignored is completely meaningless to me--it has no direct effect on me... what does have a direct effect on me is Herc ignoring shows that deserves talkbacks--there's shows myself and talkbackers want to talk about but Herc won't allow it. THat' said, if there's one award that I do care about it would be the actor who plays Walter on fringe. He's a heartbreaking character and a hilarious character at the same time... he deserves credit... but it makes no difference to me.
-
community. and very few people in ireland get 3e. as for its always sunny, i think Sky one showed that and the dropped it. so as for the its one of the funniest shows on tv. on american tv yes. ourside of america, I dont know...
-
No SoA? No Justified? No It's Always Sunny? -
For the worst series finale ... contenders: BSG and Lost... tough choice. Friday Night Lights is forever getting fucked in the ass by not getting a nom. Ridiculous. It's the best show nobody has seen.
-

OK, so who wins supporting: O'Quinn or Emerson?
by crispin_glovers_acid_flashback
Locke or Ben?
-
If we're talking Lost episodes, I liked The End and if I did a top 10 Lost episodes ever, it'd probably be situated right at the bottom for #10 - satisfying finale. Or maybe #15. I did like it, but they've done better. But Ab Aeterno? Easily the best episode of the season, and one of my top 3 Lost episodes of all time. And since the Best Supporting is based upon a single episode and not a full season (as I understand, I'm pretty sure) Nestor Carbonell's performance in Ab Aeterno was some of the best work done by a single actor in the whole season. It was his Walkabout. As for Emmerson or O'Quinn this time around. I'd vote for O'Quinn, just because he was an inhuman monster who flipped back and forth to being charming and understandable... but in the end, he's not human at all, and that's why it was a good performance. But Carbonell in Ab Aeterno was better and that episode got the shaft overall, I believe.
-
I haven't ever seen anyone elevate it beyond "guilty pleasure". It is terrible and wonderful. It is also indisputably a comedy.SPARTACUS was robbed.
-
Aaron Paul
-
As usual the tired retinue of repetetive hollywood power players locks out anything resembling quality.
Same tired entires of 'House' and '30 Rock' engenderring rapidly diminishing returns on quality and writing blocking out far superior nominations, such as Treme, in order to feed the outsized egos of Tina Fey et al.
At least Mad Men can get a go for the 3rd time. -
Too bad there isn't an award for "Outstanding 'Holy Shit!' Moment". Spartacus would own that category.
-
The guy is simply brilliant as Walter Bishop on Fringe.
Kudos to the Emmy's for the Lost nominations (though I'm scratching my head over Elizabeth Mitchell - she deserved it for some of her work before this season, but this season the two guest spots she did were not really Emmy worthy). -
Ab Aeterno is the most over rated episode of the entire series. It wasn't that well written (the statue gets taken out by Richar's ship riding a massive wave? Really? WTF?), and the demystification of Richard it provided was one of Lost's bigger "Midichlorian" moments. Also, while Nestor C. was fine in the episode, I don't see why everyone just gushes over his performance. He was good, but not great.
-
True Blood is terrible.
Sons of Anarchy got screwed. -
Both O'Quinn and Emerson have gotten their awards already, and this really was Josh Holloway's season.
-
Jul 08, 2010 12:45:24 PM CDT
Yeah, but Ab Aeterno is only called overrated by, like, you
by tall_boy66
Every other Lost fan in history, and just critics who reviewed the episode, think that it's great. Deservedly so. I've seen barely half a dozen negative comments about Ab Aeterno in my life and... SHOCK! ... it's all from AICN Talkbacks. And, really now, who listens to what talkbackers think is good? So the statue was destroyed in a storm. THAT'S the most implausible thing this show has thrown at you over 6 seasons? Really?
-
THE SHIELD, Season 7. Fucking amazing, devastating performance. JUSTIFIED, Season 1. A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT but equally amazing, hilarious/scary performance. RECOGNIZE.
-
The man was creepy as hell as Trinity, really raised the bar. And no nominations for SoA or Sunny? fuck the Emmys
-
The similarity between the two shows, intentional or not, is becoming increasingly obvious. Except Buffy never got its due because it was initially about high school kids, and didn't have tons of profanity and nudity.
-
I just realized something a few days ago watching new Futurama. Walter Bishop = Professor Farnsworth.
-
and why the fuck is Lithgow nominated as guest actor. He was in basically every fucking episode of the season, making him a supporting character. I don't care if he's not returning next season. Guest actor is the stupidest fucking category I've ever heard of. How come Glenn Close not only doesn't get a guest actress nom for The Shield, but a fucking LEAD actress one and Lithgow gets a guest actor nom??? Makes no fucking sense. Also, I'm really surprised both the globes and emmys overlooked Jennifer Carpenter this year.
BUT NO JOHN NOBLE NOMINATION IS THE MOST RETARTED THING EVER! -
...about Noble getting robbed as I do. He and Katey Sagal put in the two best performances of the season, and fucking shame on these assclowns for forgetting how to feel feelings.
-
They never get it right.
-
But House didn't get nominated, outside of Best Actor for Hugh Laurie, which he deserves. He gets nominated every year of course (and snubbed every year) but if you've watched the show every season like I have, you know that, despite the steady decline in writing except for the season premiers and finales, his acting gets better every year.
-
but whenever the story is about tara or her mama and her "demons" it gets bad fast. bad acting, same arguements over and over... enough of these characters.
Bill turning that chicks head around while plowing her last week was sick and funny -
This is bullshit!
-
Only I am far from the only one who thinks its over-rated.
If you doubt, read some of the posts in the talkback for that episode:
http://www.aintitcool.com/talkback_display/44373 -
Seriously, this is the most overrated show of all time. Its men behaving badly in suits. I tried watching it a few times and flip every time. Sons is the best show on TV and blows me away with every episode. The fact that Katey Segal is overlooked for another the rest of the bitches on this list is amazing. Also fuck the Good Wife. I would say the Emmys are worthless, but they did dick slap Jay for Conan. That was funny unlike the nods for best show. HIMY stepped up their game and Big Bang is a great show that hit some sophmore blues. 30 Rock is unfunny anymore. Community should have gotten there as well.
-
I expected them to overlook SOA for a drama series nod, but shame on them for snubbing Katey Sagal who was easily and by far the best Actress on television last season. Hell she was the best Actor period.
-
Best show on tv, hands down.
-
To me that's the most egregious snub. Maybe they figured they couldn't nominate too many actors from "nerd" shows, or something. And Parks & Recreation is NOT that funny; give it a rest.
-
i agree that Josh Holloway deserved a nod, but am happy to see fox o'quinn and emmerson get nominated, as well as all the noms for "The End"....which is easily one of the best tv episodes of all time
-
So happy for all the LOST love, even though the finale left me wanting more. A fitting tribute to a show that reinvented itself with each new season, and established what I think should be the new American broadcast TV series model: Every Show Should Have An END DATE!
Ya listenin to me, Kiefer?...24...a show that obviously over stayed it's welcome 1 season too long.
Steve Carrell's exit on The Office should be ANOTHER end date candidate.
Also glad to see the love for "Modern Family", a show that has slowly grown on me...and big ups for TEAM COCO! Take THAT, you big chinned bastard!
Lil bummed about the lack of COMMUNITY faith...I'm planning on watching the "Best of" marathon tonight on NBC...perhaps I'm missing something...but I think this show is consistently funny. Your results may vary.
Namaste, Emmys!
-
...the big-nosed chick and her plaid sweaters and knee socks. She's funny-looking.
-
His performance in Damages was EXCELLENT
-
.... which is easily one of the best tv episodes of all time. Smokin' that Crack or what, Calvin?
-
...singlehandedly raises Fringe from an X-Files knockoff into the realm of excellence.
-
I thought that show started to come into its own. Looking forward to the next season. Ted Danson's role in that is hilarious.
Comedy wise Curb rules all. Absolutely love that show; nothing makes me laugh harder. What I've seen of Community is very strong too - the dialogue in particular. -
Oh well, i'm sure it's just an honor to be SNUBBED again, even though she gave (by far) some of most brilliant performances last season on S.O.A...But what the who, this is the same voting board that ignored THE WIRE, BUFFY, and ANGEL...Fuck em', they have no true credibility.
-
His turn on that show has been nothing short of amazing. The most versatile performances I've ever seen him give, I'm glad to see he's getting recognized for it. It's tough competition though, so it'll be a rough one.
-
Deserved nominations. Simply fantastic acting jobs.

Once again, it will be a 3 hour show of ejaculating to 30 rock
by palooka_boy
why even watch?

Guest Actor Comedy and Guest Actress Drama have 6, while the other 2 have 7.

It was nigh-unwatchable after the hatchet job Comedy Central did on it.

Robbed, man. Robbed. Especially during the entire reveal of Peter's past, he was beyond excellent.

Horray Dexter! Horray Breaking Bad! Boo Lost!
by ooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuutttttlllllaaaaa
And no love for South Park? This first half was the best South Park in a long time (except for the unwatchable Crippled Summer episode.)
-
I watched every episode and it was self indulgent shit. Simon should of just made a documentary, because the characters not portrayed by Goodman all sucked.
I just want to see Dexter win a few awards, especially Lithgow. -

"Main Title Design" is a category?
by ooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuutttttlllllaaaaa
It's probably been 10 years since I've watched the awards show. Main Title Design? Really?
-
that it wasn't nominated. But Chevy deserved a supporting actor nomination.
-
made DEXTER S4. He was incredibly good in a show that I feel has lost its way. Except that ending. Fuckers.
Emmys seem to love things they've loved before. That seems to be it's schtick. -
I'm a little surprised. How would single/multi camera setup affect quality of hair?
Wondering if I play gay and minority bingo on this nomination list, if I can predict the winner with 60% accuracy (passing with a D). -
The back 9 did not play as well, including the NPG episode. But Chenoweth rocked her appearance.
-
Robbed I tells ya!
-
Oddly enough that is the one nomination I was hoping for and happy to see. Some of the plots and characters on Glee can go off track here and there but Mike O'Malley as the working class average guy father who has his gay son's back at all times even if he doesn't fully "get" his son is the one consistent and consistently compelling characters on that show. Especially when up till Glee I never thought of O'Malley as more than just a comic-turned-okay-sitcom actor. But he just does such an amazing job playing such a regular-guy dad.
-
Anyone know how the Best/Supporting roles are defined? Just wondering how, in ensemble shows, Mathew Fox gets nominated for Best Actor and Terry O'Quin Best Supporting Actor, but then, in another ensemble show, both Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara are both in the Supporting Category?
-
and im a lost fan

Seriously. It is like they are getting bribed.
-
Stupid academy. Z deserved to get some recognition.
-
I don't see how he could possibly lose. He gave the performance of a career in last season of Dexter. I really want Lost to get some love.
-
since it seems 95% of shows dont have any these days, its just "bam, the title". as for this whole guilty pleasure thing, i guess i just dont get it. why would you feel guilty about what you like? because others think its stupid? i like what i like, there's no guilt associated. that and the whole "they like it but know it sucks" really dont make sense. if i like something, how can i think it sucks? it must be one of those internet geeks ways of thinking that only makes sense to them.
-
I actually think the guy is absolutely brilliant.
The one thing is that his schtick IS eventually going to get repetetive and old and will probably result in him missing the boat on a win, and that's a shame.
My comment was more directed at the idiot known as Tina Fey, whose cresting in mainstream media that covers up the fact that she is basically a media coddled overrated hack.
I will also join in the fray in that Noble was absolutely hosed in these noms. The guy is singlehandedly THE BEST actor in primetime now. I guess the 'Distinguished Academy' was passed out drunk the day they coverred Nuance 1010 back in college.
Treme, Khandi Alexander, and Noble to me are the three single biggest omissions from this ballot.
A real, crying shame..... -
A drama with comedic elements really shouldn't have any business competing in the comedy series category. Can't stand the Edie Falco love, not since she stole the 2003 Emmy from Jennifer Garner for Alias just because she pulled a Lee Elia, profane-a-palooza in one episode of Sopranos...
-

Carmilla, I think you meant "Give Martin Starr his statue"
by pennsydeux
And everybody associated with Party Down. Better by instantaneous default than CYE, 30 Rock and The Office. They should have had 10 acting nominations alone.
-
It depends on what the show chooses to enter its actors as. In the case of Modern Family, none of the cast wanted to be nominated for Lead Actor/Actress, because they thought nobody in the ensemble should be singled out. It's the same reason that Keisha Castle-Hughes was nominated for best supporting actress in Whale Rider, or Fahrenheit 9/11 was NOT nominated for Best Documentary: there's no logical system for who falls into what category, the studios just choose what to run under based on what they want to win or whatever they think they can get.
-
If not being funny keeps a show from being nominated for best comedy, none of the shows on the list deserve to be there.
-
It will be a travesty if the show doesn't walk away with every award the show is nominated for
-
As best drama. Michael C. Hall, best actor. John Lithgow, best supporting (otherwise, Aaron Paul). Steve Carrell, best comedy actor. The Office, best comedy (if you think it jumped the shark, nuked the fridge or fucked the dog, I'll pray for your small, stupid mind.) We're actually living in a time when TV is better than movies. Show me a movie as great as True Blood, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Glee or Modern Family. This is the true golden age of TV. And fuck Treme--it's a self-indulgent piece of crap from the same hack who brought you one great season (4th season) and four limp seasons of The Wire, one of the most disappointing shows to ever appear on TV.
-
Those three made tv for me this past year, here's hoping they win.
-
Otherwise they would have quit slobbering that insufferable Glee's knob long enough to recognize that Fringe and John Noble are the absolute shit right now. Best show on TV, hands down.
-
Just brutal. They're going to split that vote and let some douchenozzle win. If I had to choose, I'd have to go with Emerson. Terry was fantastic, but Emerson brought an emotional response to every single scene he was in, and it was his gravitas that absolutely made Lost the suspense piece it was.
-
Loved the final, can't wait to get the complete set on Blu-ray. Hope Fox gets the nod for Best Actor, though I can completely understand if Cranston walks away with it.As I said in the other talkback Noble and Sagal are the worst ommissions, absolutely no doubt about that.
-
But have a feeling both won't
-
He won Golden globe and SAG award earlier this year.
-
My kids dig the hell out of the show, and after watching a bunch of episodes with 'em, yeah. It pretty much kicks ass. But nothing? Kick Buttowski and Wizards of Waverly place get love instead? Not feelin' it.
-

Spartacus was the best scripted show by far, and not even nomina
by saen
The plotting in Spartacus is so far beyond the level of anything except perhaps Breaking Bad. Rewatching it again and again you can find little hints from such small little pieces of dialog that signal huge implications later on. The pacing is brilliant, it moves along quickly, and it delivers constantly . Terrible shame it was not nominated; but I guess that happens when you kill off the Gay characters.
-
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series needs to go to Christina Hendricks. When she bounces up to the podium to accept the Emmy, it won't be only the ceremony ratings that'd gain a spike...

when the Jim-Pam Wedding episode of The Office is nominated for best writing. The part at the end where the entire cast danced up the aisle like in that stupid viral video was the exact moment where I gave up on the show ever getting back to its season 2/3 level of quality.

Fantastic show. Heinze Doofenshmirts is one of the great TV characters.

The TV academy is basically divided into 3 generational groups. The “Old Timers” are the people who worked at CBS from 1959-1979. These people include Carl Reiner, Alan Alda, the writers for The Waltons, Norman Lear, Tyne Daley, Sharon Gless, Mary Tyler Moore, Dick Van Dyke, Carol Burnett, and their cast members, crews, and friends from over the years. The “Baby Boomers” are made up of those who worked at NBC during the Must See TV era from 1980-2000. These people include Steven Bochco, Dick Wolf, Donald Bellisario, David Chase, David E. Kelley, James Burrows, Bill Cosby, Ted Danson, Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louise Dreyfuss, and Larry David, their various co-stars, crews, and friends over the years. The Young Guns are made up of the HBO/WB/Cable era and include Joss Whedon, J.J. Abrams, Alan Ball, Steve Carrell, Carter Bay and Craig Thomas (creators of HIMYM), Jon Stewart, Kurt Sutter (creator of SoA), Allison Hannigan, Shonda Rimes, Katherine Heigle, Shawn Ryan, their casts, crews and friends. Why has Mad Men won the past 2 years? The “Old Times” worked in that era, and enough of the “Baby Boomers” were children during the 1960’s. And the creater worked for David Chase on The Spranoes. Why has Cranston won for “Breaking Bad?” Before getting “Malcolm in the Middle” he was a favorite guest star actor for Steven Bochco and David E. Kelley. And he did 5 episodes of Seinfeld. The "Old Times" watch "Breaking Bad" on Sundays because there is less swearing than the HBO and Showtime shows. Yes, with many of them it matters. Now why the Glen Close wins for “Damages?” That’s a Movie Star doing TV, and “The Old Timers” were segregated in Hollywood society back in the day. Anytime a movie star does TV they feel obligated to reward them. Why did 24 struggle to get any recognition? The creators worked for CBS in the 1980's and 1990's, they met doing "Falcon Crest." But what helped them get some wins as few years ago was Surnow worked on NBC's "Miami Vice" for the first 2 years.Good Luck with your picks.------later-----m
-
Campbell Scott got left out of the party, but he did good work as well. But I'm more upset that it's dead. And if Aaron Paul doesn't win it, I hope Martin Short or Slattery do. An argument can be made for O'Quinn, but Emerson was marginalized this season. And both have already won.
-
Always thought it was stupid to reward one person's art over another's. It's just so subjective.
-
No John Noble, no Walt Goggins, and no Martin Short are you kidding me?
-
SID 8.0, Short was nominated in the Supporting actor category. For people crying that Lithgow wasn't nominated for supporting....here's the thing, he never submitted to supporting. He submitted his DVD for guest actor.
Pissed that Dean Norris was snubbed. His performances in Sunset and One Minute were fucking Emmy worthy.
Quinn and Emerson don't even deserve to be nominated for Lost this season. Holloway would have been a better choice. And seriously, Breaking Bad better win the top prize this year. It is, by far, the best show on TV. I can't believe it wasn't even nominated for writing for fuck's sake.
Oh yeah, Lithgow got his Emmy the moment he said, "Shut up, cunt." -
man that guy was scary as hell. You hear swear words all the time in movies and TV but that guy makes it feel like a slap in the face. Hope he takes it.
-
toward the end.
-
sorry, but anyone who doesn't think he deserved to be nominated for this final season clearly wasn't watching the same show. His MiB character truly felt menacing and I never once looked at the character as being Locke. and then for him to play the kind and gentle John Locke in the flash-sideways within the same episodes were he also depicted the monster? Definitely deserves the nomination.
-
The Academy has ass burgers!
-
I loved Michael Emerson a lot, but Terry playing two characters so well that I couldn't see John Locke at all when he was MIB was just a great piece of acting.
-
The Late Late Show is consistently awesome and Craig Ferguson is great. Deserved some recognition imo.
-
Was robbed for not being nominated for cinematography for the finale of House.
-
Absolutely. Best in late night right now. For the puppetry alone.
-
Already said Noble was robbed, supporting actor in a drama so much quality, could easily expand this out to 10, some of the other categories 6 seems like a stretch.
-
One of the MOST overrated shows on TV. It's the new 30 Rock.
-
Boo for no Katey Sagal. Fuck you Emmy voters!
-
fuckin emmys
-
Was the single funniest half hour of TV this year. Fuck the Emmy's. Bunch of old farts.
-
Was the single funniest half hour of TV this year. Fuck the Emmy's. Bunch of old farts.
-
Agree, O'Quinn was excellent as two different characters. Hope he gets another good acting gig soon. So much good talent in Lost want to see them continue to be in the not so standard fare of most network TV, that really isn't ambitious.
-
WHO would have thought so much Good Wife love! And I love Modern Family, but it's nowhere near as good as Community is. God, no nominations at all for Community? That is devastating. Like, it is actually WRONG that Modern Warfare is not even NOMINATED in the directing category. If only for the new things it is doing. And no Breaking Bad writing nominations?
-
not one of those shows is written for anyone with an iq over 90...bring back kukla fran and ollie and the bullwinkle show and i dont get the no love for ed o'neil...he is the glue that holds modern family together...although all the actors are brilliantlost will probably sweep so the emmy's can give them the farewell nod
-
Treme wasn't past the cutoff date. It got a nom for Writing or Directing, one of the two. It was definitely robbed though. I mean no nom for Melissa Leo? WTF? Nothing new for David Simon though. The emmy's must really hate his ass. That The Wire was never nominated for Best Drama just shows how much a sham the Emmy's really are.
Good to see the love for Lost. And while I'm tired of seeing Shaloub up there, Monk is done so I wouldn't be suprised if he wins one last time.
And seriously how can they keep ignoring John Noble. He's so brilliant in Fringe.
-
has a Peabody Award. It's not a peer or industry award, but that's more good than bad. It's also even older than the Emmys, and hasn't failed to recognize shows like the Wire and the Shield. And crap, I left out Tate Donovan from the Damages cast.
-
What the fuck are people watching? Seriously? Glee? That's pretty much the worst show I've ever seen. Ever.
Ever.
Community ROCKS!!! -
I would like to see Monk win for his final season- that show was brilliant-
I love 30 Rock- but I don't think this year was it's funniest-
COMMUNITY should have at least been nominated as it was the HIGHLIGHT of THURSDAY NIGHT's NBC lineup-
Dunder Mifflin- sorry- you guys have gotten ridiculous-
Parks and Rec- getting better- still not there yet- Much Love for Poehler (LONG LIVE THE UCB, BITCHES!)
Other than that- I don't give a shit cuz I don't watch boring vampire or lawyer shows. Booooooooring. Boring.
What about PSYCH or BURN NOTICE? those shows kick ass every episode! -
Too bad Josh Holloway and Jorge Garcia didn't get nominated, I thought they really stood out during Lost's final season. Matthew Fox isn't going to win, but nice to see him nominated.
-
...to make the Oscars look reasonable. And of course it's the Grammys' job to make the Emmys seem acceptable.
-
...Sagal, Goggins and Noble...were simply robbed. All three did brilliant work this season.
-
5 acting nods for modern family and nothing for Ed Oneil. C'mon, he's the star here.
-
He really carried Season 5 of Lost. He has definitely been great these last two seasons though. But I think Lost should sweep all of its nominations. I do have this nagging feeling that Glee will sweep all of the comedy awards. While I like Glee, I don't think that would be fair. That show has definitely dropped off over a complete season. Hopefully they'll get their mojo back in S2.
-
I mean how does the best show ever not get nominated? It's fuckings insane? Does anyone know why? Seriously? Did HBO not campaign enough or what? That show should have been nominated in every dramatic catagory. It's fucking insane and it's one of the reasons most people aren't aware of the wire. I mean one year CSI got a nomination and the wire got nothing? How can you look at that and say "we are a credible awards show". If I become a millionaire I'm going to not only create a tv station that only airs the wire 24/7 but I'm going to throw the complete DVD set from rooftops to the masses. The world would be a better place me thinks

The show was written, filmed, and edited in Baltimore, where show creator and head writer David Simon had been a reporter for the Baltimore Sun back in the 1980's. To many in Hollywood he is an outsider, and he was considered a rival to Bochco when "Homicide" was on NBC and "NYPD Blue" was on ABC in the 1990's."Law and Order" creator Dick Wolf likes Simon ever since he did the crossover episodes of "Law and Order" and "Homicide", and he brought the character Munch to Law and Order: SVU. Also, since The Wire left the air, many of the castmembers have been guest stars on all the various Law and Order shows, and some have even been recurring characters. loved the show as well, and have also been giving the actors gigs over the past few years.-----later-----m

Bill O'Reilly has TWO Peabody awards for Inside Edition
by crimson dynamo
No, wait...they're Polk awards, and was won after he left the show. Nevermind.
-
i hope Matthew gets the nod. he and 'ol Des are my favorite characters (kinda hard to choose with ALL the great ones on Lost). just SUCKS its up against my other other drama i dvr...DEXTER dammit!! so confused brotha lol...
-
arrrghhhhh!! see what i mean lol????

Well, they have fallen to .500 and are 11.5 games behind the Yankees with 2 other teams in between, but still, mathematically, in the running.
-
havent u found a new tv show to NOT ACTUALLY watch and comment on? ur fucking pathetic as always. "glad" to see u still have ur awesomely pathetic life of trolling tb's still going broheim...
-
die already. thx
-
HEY! here's a idea...if YOU die first then ur problems will be solved! no more lonely, sad, pathetic internet trolling life AND u wont have to see my horrible posts! be the better man...we ALL know u can do it brotha...
-
...been too long since I saw a broheim on this board. And followed with a brotha. Hey, Jay. And lostboytexass, not that I don't admire your body of work on these boards, but regardless of your feelings about how Lost ended (and you certainly couldn't have hated it worse than I did) the horrible cop out of a conclusion was directed very well. And for six seasons the acting on Lost was some of the best acting on television. Although I might have rooted for Noble or Goggins had they been nominated, among the folks who were nominated I'm certainly rooting for one of these two. In fact there are quite a few members of the cast who have never been nominated who deserve to have their work on this series recognized. Although I don't get the nomination for Mitchell. Not for her work this season.
-
I don't get what the big deal is. It's not unwatchable, but I didn't see anything that warrants the slobbering praise it gets.
-
the ending of lost negated everything it did. acting included. lost curled up into a ball of shit and collapsed into itself like a black hole. but still jay lives. weird.
-
at least u WATCH Lost to be pissed at it (and u at least try to discuss said hatred RATIONALLY) BUUUUUUT 'ol cowardBOY HASNT EVEN WATCHED THE FUCKING SHOW. all he used to do is look up a spoiler synopsis for a show and then let out his oh so wonderful "reviews". a true TROLL through and through to the NTH degree. i really feel sorry for his life cause apparently all he does is troll and post on AICN broheim lol...

by jay2517
but the tb is still young. poor fella...all his pent up rage and confusion and the only outlet is this website (i guess??) lol...
-
...yeah, but I did enjoy your fights. And remember, I do not hate Lost. I hate Lost's ending. Actually, I know you don't have to be reminded of that, but the way your post read someone else might have gotten the wrong idea.
-
a wizard?
-
I look forward to being crushed in your avalanch of Wire DVD's. I would prefer if you could refrain from burying me in season 4 as it was just too heart-breaking.
-
i know u hated the ending not the show overall. i should have worded it better i guess lol. but, I knew what u were talking abooot lol. my point still stands though. at least u ACTUALLY WATCH and i respect u for that broheim...
-
The only time a show gets justly nominated for an emmy is when it has too because there more spots for nominations than there are overhyped shows.
-
is so streets ahead of these other shows.
