Emmy Noms Tomorrow!! Which Shows Will Join MAD MEN And 30 ROCK?? TRUE BLOOD?? LOST?? JUSTIFIED?? PARKS?? COMMUNITY?? GLEE??
I am – Hercules!!
Emmy nominations are announced 5:40am PT (8:40 a.m. ET) Thursday.
Nominated for outstanding drama series last year:
* Mad Men (AMC)
o Big Love (HBO)
o Breaking Bad (AMC)
o Damages (FX)
o Dexter (Showtime)
o House (Fox)
o Lost (ABC)
“Justified” is the hourlong I’m most rooting for to join this category.
Past drama winners:
2009 Mad Men
2008 Mad Men
2007 The Sopranos
2006 24
2005 Lost
2004 The Sopranos
2003 The West Wing
2002 The West Wing
2001 The West Wing
2000 The West Wing
Nominated for outstanding comedy series last year:
* 30 Rock (NBC)
o Entourage (HBO)
o Family Guy (Fox)
o Flight of the Conchords (HBO)
o How I Met Your Mother (CBS)
o The Office (NBC)
o Weeds (Showtime)
I’d bet real money we’ll see “Modern Family” snag a nomination this year, but I’d like to see funnier, less popular shows like “South Park,” “Community” and “Parks and Recreation” in the mix.
Past comedy winners:
2009 30 Rock
2008 30 Rock
2007 30 Rock
2006 The Office

It's just a given now? Or is the Tina Fey love-fest still in effect?
-
I'd like to see Always Sunny get a nom for comedy and Burn Notice take home the award for "Best Show to Watch in July while Enjoying an Ice Cold Alcoholic Beverage".
-
Not even one of Stan Lee's old No-Prizes. Well, nothing at least until the Golden Turkeys are announced. I think they'd have a chance at beating BSG in the "Worst Finale In All of TV History, No, In All of Fiction, EVER" category.
-
Nominations for Zach Gilford from Friday Night Lights (The Son), Terry O'Quinn for Lost, John Noble for Fringe (White Tulip), Jack Bender for the Lost finale (or Tucker Gates for Ab Aeterno), something for everyone who worked on the Mad Men season three finale, some love for Justified and Caprica (though those are outrageous longshots), Best Comedy Guest Star nomination for Michael Sheen as Wesley Snipes on 30 Rock, and a surprise shut-out for Modern Family, the most over-rated show of the year. Send Community and Party Down that love. They need it.
-
Deserves to be nominated and Katey Sagal deserves a nom as well. I can't even believe that was Peg Bundy.
-
I second that emotion.
-
Is the best drama on TV. Easily.
-
Sons of Anarchy definitely deserves at least ONE Emmy. Damn fine show.
-
And John Noble deserves an acting nod. And Kiefer I think gave some of his strongest work last season, especially towards the end. And it's funny how The West Wing won at least 4 years in a row, and who gives a shit about that show anymore.
-
Acting nod for John Noble or I could give a fat fuck about the Emmys for the rest of my life! Along with that, some love for COMMUNITY, JUSTIFIED, and of course, my absolute personal favorite SPARTACUS: B&S!!

I know Lost will be nominated, but there's no way they
by Coughlins Laws
should win. I'm glad they won their first year so we can avoid a series award instead of a season award. Damon & Lindelof should definitely NOT be rewarded for how they ended the show...
-
All deserve nominations. So does Fringe actually. Good acting on that show.
-
Which, as always, deserves nomination, will, as always, not get one.
-
I saw the first 15 minutes of an ABC show called "Rookie Blue". It has to be the worst piece of crap I have ever seen. I'm sure it's already cancelled but I wanted to mention it. It was so stunningly bad, I was amazed.
-
at least give McHale and Olyphant noms for characters that could have become cliches, and were given something extra.<p>Give Breaking Bad best series, for the past 3 years dammit!<p>And give Ty Burrell best supporting and tell the rest to stay home.
-
The best show on television.
-
some recognition. The courtroom episode was like classic Seinfeld.
-
otherwise the final seasons of The Shield and The Wire would have atleast received a nomination.
-
Katey is the HBIC, and deserves to win goddammit! Every year, it's the same fucking people sucking each others dicks. Fuck that!!
-
SOA definitely deserves to be nominated at the least. I would also like to see Katey Sagal and John Noble win, they were both incredible in their respected shows last season. I wouldn't mind seeing Justified and Olyphant nominated in some way as well.
-
They ended it awesomely and just like the Oscars waited until Peter Jackson finished LOTR to give him tons of awards, Lost should get tons of awards this year. One of the best series ever!
-
It started out with a few good episodes and ended with a few more but the middle of the season felt like filler. Olyphant was pretty good though. I'd be fine if he got a nomination but there's more deserving shows to fill that roster. Maybe they'll keep the momentum going from the end of season one and give us a great follow up. I would love for Rescue Me to pick up a nomination. Sons of Anarchy too. But Breaking Bad should win.
-
He is so great on Breaking Bad, that he actually compelled me to post on an Emmy talkback.
-
for Drama & Comedy won't simply be given to whatever is submitted by 30 Rock & Mad Men. Would be nice to see a real sampling of the best rather than 4 nominations from the same show, and a token fifth to another (just to create some "competition" as to the winning show).
-
until they stop giving the top prizes to the completely unfunny 30 Rock and the boring-pretensiousness-wrapped-up-in-a-classy-package Mad Men. FUCKING BORING SHOW that gets the top prize every year. <p>Why watch the show when the outcome is predetermined by people who vote for what sounds good rather than what deserves it?
-
no idea why though. But the Emmys completely ignored the greatest programme ever made (The Wire) so they are obviously not interested in quality. It'd be great to see some Community love though and Olyphant is the best actor in television
-
Agreed 100%! John Noble better get recognized for his work on Fringe S2. Then again, so should John Lithgow for S4 of Dexter. But it'll probably go to some douche from Mad Men.
-
for Season 1. Do you people even read these posts?
-
but Fringe is too sci-fi for mainstream recognition I guess
-
STILL needs an emmy for Dr. House, especially looking at ep. 1 of last season when he was in the nut house. He has been incredible in that role for several seasons, but will probably lose to a douche from Mad Men.
-
deserves an emmy for his work on Lost this year. But he'll probably lose out to a douche from Mad MEn.
-
had probably his best season on Dexter. Yet he'll probably lose to a douche from Mad Men.
-
had a top-notch season with the Seinfeld reunion. But it'll probably lose out to the never-that-funny 30 Rock.
-
was the best sitcom on TV this year, but it'll probably lose out to the shit sandwich that is 30 Rock.
-
is an awesomely addictive, yet trashy show that will likely never see a best drama nom. <p>BUT IF IT DID, it would probably lose out to the douchy Mad Men.
-
is being a dick on the talkbacks, but he'd probably lose out to Media Messiah if he was here
-
Certainly not Communtiy. That statement surprises me. It's definitely the best network comedy right now, and I enjoy it far more than I do 30 Rock at this point.
-
are both incredible and should win for best drama and best actor in a drama. But they'll lose out to that douchy Mad Men
-
not being a dick, justr calling them as I see em - however, calling me a dick kind of loses all it's weight when you do it while named after a WWE actor
-
. . . of 30 Rock yet, and it sure as hell was FUNNY. Has it gone downhill or are you haters just trying to be different?
-
Personally, I like Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. Both have incredible timing. But the show itself just doesn't generate very many laughs for me, and Tracy Morgan is the UNfunny.
-
cuz I've never seen WWE but be sure that is not what I'm named after. We get it though, you don't like Mad Men and TBH, I agree with most of the other ones you recommend (well except for LOST, which was shitacular this season) but no need to keep going on about it. No beef chief, although you should check out Mad Men, cuz boring it most definitely is not
-
that 30 Rock appeals to some people, but don't understand how it keeps winning best comedy. By all rights Modern Family SHOULD take that this year, as it's one of the funniest sitcoms I've seen in several years. <p>as for Modern Men, my hate on that stems from it's run of awards when every time I watch it it just bores me. It strikes me as one of those things that the fans feel like they're smarter for watching it, when in reality it's a douchy show that's full of itself (though Christina Hendricks IS luscious). It's like when the English Patient or Out of Africa won BP oscars. Seemed they were voted on because it was the classy choice, not necessarily the right one.
-
July 7, 2010, 3:26 p.m. CST
I've never seen a single episode of The West Wing.
by OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWW
Was it any good? Or was it "made for emmy" TV?
-
You guys must be absolute morons... everyone loved the finale :P. Can't wait to see the extended scenes with new Jacob, Hurley and new Richard, Ben! Emmys everywhere!
-
damn lack of edit function <p>well then I apologize Goldberg, but still no reason to call me a dick simply because I'm sick of the same two shows undeservedly winning every year. And I have tried Mad Men at the start of seasons 1, 2, and 3, and it never managed to hold my interest and honestly felt like a prime time soap more than a drama. Boring.
-
I know True Blood falls dangerously close to soap territory, but it has a lot of nice boobs to keep my interest (who knew Anna Paquin had such a great body?)
-
was a bit harsh on my part. Agree about English Patient too, what piece of shit that film was.
-
no harm done, and I'll stop with the shoulda woulda coulda posts. I WISH something else would win, but I've said my piece and it's not like I'm going to change voters' minds.
-
That will get the most noms.
-
Breaking Bad and Bryan Cranston will win. Aaron Paul should also win supporting for good measure.
-
Of course it'll never happen, but how great would it be if Emmy winners were banned from nomination for the following year or two. At least the voters would have to consider other possibilities instead of voting for the same people year after year.
-
will garner it some undeserved noms. Although, I wouldn't hate Jane Lynch getting nominated.
-
nominated along side NYPD Blue and ER for best show. Guess what show won? Picket Fences, lol. Emmys are a joke.
-
Are funnier than "Modern Family". While "30 Rock" and "Modern Family" are nowhere near the level of laugh out loud funny that "Arrested Development" was, both are in my opinion the most deserving of nominations. <P>"Modern Family" is funny but it has a lot of heart as well, and the ensemble works well together onscreen. <P>I used to STAN hard for "South Park" many years ago when it first came out, and now when I watch I don't feel anything for it anymore. It just shocks for the sake of it, and after a while how much replay can you get out of something once you have already experienced the shock value? <P>Also both "Parks and Recreation" and "Community" are inconsistent and were not strong overall.
-
I love a ton of television, but Breaking Bad was head and shoulders above everything else this year. This season was some of the best television IN GENERAL, I've seen. I'll be very bummed if it doesn't sweep. Community, Party Down, and Parks and Rec would also be nice...
-
Yeah.
-
Breaking Bad should win all drama-related categories. Easily the best show on TV this year.
-
"Y the Lost hate...everyone loved the finale" Think about what you just said and then tell me who the moron is here.
-
Whatshername will get nominated for Nurse Jackie.
-
If anybody else on that show gets nominated, its a joke. OK, that gay kid has some seriously funny lines. Nobody else deserves it though . . .
-
If they get noms for best show or writingthen emmys are truly stupid
-
for the same Reasons Return of the King got an Oscar (even though it was the weakest of the three LOTR films), more for the show as a whole rather than the final season itself - that's just how Hollywood tends to do things
-
Hey bozo, ALL the LOTR movies were nominated for best pic. You idiot.
-
I'd love to see this show get a nomination, especially now that it's been cancelled. It'd be a nice send off, and maybe it would convince Starz to reconsider. I'm not holding my breath, though.
-
don't be a douchebag <p>besides, I said Lost would get a NOM for the same reason ROTK got the OSCAR - never said anything about noms in regards to LOTR <p>so again, DON'T BE A DOUCHEBAG
-
Dominates over every network comedy. Who thinks Modern Family is funny? It's a good show to jerk off to but the comedy is stale. The husband on that show is basically doing a twist on steve carell from the office. Ed O'neil is akward, his wife is fucking annoying to listen to, little manny is a douche bag. That cameo with Ed Norton playing Russell Brand wasn't funny. There's just something really gutless about the show. Its seems like a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of something that was funny in 2005.
-
But it won't happen, and they'll get snubbed for that piece of shit Entourage. :|
-
The whole show is just celebrity cameos. "Hey, there's Matt Damon! Oh my gosh, it's Julianne Moore with a terrible accent!! Wow, this MUST be funny." Probably the most overrated show ever. Always Sunny, Party Down, and Modern Family are all much better.
-
As far as last year's list I don't think Big Love, Lost, House, or Dexter belonged on there. But I guess TV's generally a shit product so you have to nominate someone.
-
The Emmys! Why? Because today's programming doesn't deserve awards. :-)
-
deserve Emmy nods!<p>LOST will win Best Drama (sorry Finale haters). O'Quinn and Emerson should get noms (Emerson should win again).<p>JUSTIFIED's Olyphant and Goggins deserve noms as well.
-
Like to see that guy win something.
-
I like Modern Family. It's very clever. But Community is massively hilarious. It's uneven every so often, but they have had at least a half-dozen classic episodes and this is just their first year on the air.
-
did Community get better? I watched early in the season for Chevy Chase but it never really grabbed me, and I just stopped watching after the Halloween episode. Should I give it another try past that ep.?
-
if you honestly stopped watching after the Halloween ep, then i don't know what to say. That episode was amazing...with that being said the show has most definitely improved in basically every conceivable category since then, but if you don't like that Halloween ep, then community might just not be your bag.
-
He should win, as well.
-
Throw in Michael C. Hall too. As good as a lot of performances from a lot of actors were this past year no one was better than Noble, no one.
-
30 Rock is hands down the funniest sitcom on tv and the entire tv industry, the people who make comedy for a living, has agreed on that point since the show's debut.
-
Only because their favorites don't get nominated. "These awards are meaningless and they better give a meaningless award to my show!"
-
...like three shows in ten years.<p>TV is dead.<p>Also, I will be super pissed if SPARTACUS isn't nominated.
-
I'm predicting Best Drama,Best Actor And Best Supporting Actor.anything less is a slap in the face and a disgrace to great entertainment
-
That's nice that other people in the TV industry like 30 Rock so much. These are the same people responsible for all the total shit on TV, right? Great. It's a show about guest stars.
-
That show is really good. Looking forward to season deux !!!!!
-
Best supporting actor;Terry O'Quinn, Michael Emerson, John Noble, Martin Short (Damages) and Aaron Paul. For me pick of the awards in terms of quality and I would love to see John Noble or Michael Emerson get it, but Aaron Paul surely should win. <p> Best actor: Michael C Hall, Bryan Cranston, and John Hamm, don't think anyone else comes close to those 3 so the rest just make up the numbers and Bryan Cranston for the win. <p> Best supporting actress;Elisabeth Moss, Christina Hendricks, again I am stumped, so think Moss will take the win <p> Best actress; Glenn Close, January Jones, Katey Sagal, think Close will win it, but wold love to see Sagal win it, though getting January Jones on stage so we can see more of her is also good. <p> Best series; Dexter, Lost, Mad Men and Breaking Bad. I love Lost and want it to win, but think Breaking Bad is not a bad choice either. <p> Still got a couple of Justified episodes to see, but for me its a so so series so far, maybe the last two eps might change my mind.
-
Best Comedy; Curb should win, but think Glee will take it home. <p> Best actress: think Toni Collette should win, Eddie Falco is a chance, but I think Michelle Lea from Glee will win, think Glee will be the new "30 Rock" in terms of awards. <p> Actor Larry David should win, but will be another win to Glee. <p> supporting actor; Jeremy Piven maybe, no idea on this one. <p>

AKA Gert: 2 reasons you should have kept watching "Community"
by DiscoGodfather
The chicken fingers episode was brilliant, and "Modern Warfare" was probably the best episode of any comedy this season (except arguably for "Sunny"'s "World Series Defense" episode.)
-
Goddaaamn that's funny. Just when you thought the heat had died down.
-
how strict is that "no tv" rule? lol
-
including directing, editing, sound editing, cinematography, and as expected for Cranston, Paul, and Drama. But it didn't make the cut for writing, which is bogus. Mad Men took two spots in the category again, and depending on your view, either FNL or the Good Wife took its spot; the Lost finale had the other.<br><br>MM made a good call on the supporting actor category, except subtract Braugher for Noble. Never watched Men of a Certain Age, but everyone else in the category is certainly worthy, though my money is on Paul, of course.<br><br>Big, but pleasant surprise--Kyle Chandler got a lead actor nod for FNL.
-
Best anti-buddy/buddy team up since another 48 hours! Modern family is laaammme broad comedy at its worst. (Daughter always on the cell phone lame lame lame uninspired writing yawn!)30 Rock is good but HAS to stop it with the cameos its the worst thing about it. At least Community put a clever twist on the idea and showed how awkward the celebrity cameos always are with the Jack Black episode!
-
the Academy wasn't oversentimental for Lost's last season.<br><br>They did go crazy for Glee. If you're not already sick of all the hype it gets, you will be. It is no doubt the "popular" choice, even if it doesn't live up to the hype.
-
IS MONK NOMINATED AGAIN??? <p> But yeah, funny slap in the face for Jay. It's like the Academy wants Herc to make fun of Leno :D
-
I'm actually kind of excited that the guys from Modern Family pushed out Piven once and for all, but would have rather they knocked out Jon Cryer. Someone else better fucking win. And seriously? Tony Shaloub? On the plus side, it seems like pretty much everyone in the main cast of Mad Men got a nomination.
-
President Logan got his!...even if Boyd Crowder did not. Nor did Olyphant.
-
i've never watched it and never will but you can tell that by season 4 (if it reaches it) it'll be a shell of its former self and just drag until its put down due to ratings, like every other "kitschy" show.
