THE GREEN HORNET gets an International Trailer

Published at:  Jul 06, 2010 5:16:34 PM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here with the International Trailer for THE GREEN HORNET... it seems that the tone of what we're seeing so far has many folks concerned. I have to admit, when I first watched that last trailer, I was a tad weirded out. Seth Rogen's take on Britt kinda freaked me out. But since that time, I've watched that trailer about a dozen times and I've watched this trailer (embedded below) about 3 times today and ya know... I'm real curious. I mean... what if THE GREEN HORNET is done with that PULP FICTION / KILL BILL kinda hipper than hip, kinda fucking hilarious, but cooler than cool vibe? It is hard to dissect the tone of this thing, but I'm thinking... what if Gondry has created a unique tonal vibe that mixes fun, funny, funk and badass? I know, it is going out on a limb, but I'm genuinely curious. Seth has done a lot of great work thus far, and Christoph Waltz looks incredible here.

Oh - and what is it about Cameron Diaz and Green hued Superheroes. I think she really missed out not being in one of the HULK films.

The real brains of the operation is Kato. He's just using Britt for the financial backing and the legal cover. If they're ever caught, he just rats out on Britt and moves on. It's really an original take on the idea of the superhero due.
But it'll only work well if they don't take it too far. I don't want to see something like that Michael Caine/Ben Kingsley Holmes flick "Without A Clue".

    by bettercallsaul

It's hard to believe Rogen's character going from out of shape party boy to expert martial artist and weapons master. At least in Batman Begins Bruce Wayne spent about 15-20 minutes going on a spiritual ass-kicking soul searching quest to learn survival skills. I hope they do something similar here to make it at least believeable.... And it's hard to extrapolate Waltz's performance from one line. He just sounds like any old angry German with that line, which is kind of a cliche.

Green Hornet is Lone Rangers Lone Ranger's great-nephew

    by rustleabout

Growing up watching the TV show, Green Hornet, I recall my father telling me that the GH was related to the Lone Ranger. I thought, COOL! I remember telling my friends this knew found knowledge and how they all thought that I had made it up! LOL But it's true. Britt Reid is the great-nephew of the Lone Ranger, whose real last name was also Reid. Both characters were created by the same guy.

    Flight of the Bumble Bee

    by dasinfogod

Keeping it in the Reid family, doing the Green Hornet without referencing "The Flight of the Bumblebee" is like making a Lone Ranger trailer and not including "The William Tell Overture". I could see the domestic Hornet trailer overlooking this element and favoring a pedestrian hip-hop sensibility, but I expected more from a supposedly more nuanced and educated International Trailer audience; jeez, the Al Hirt version is one of the most amazing action tunes ever concocted, and Sony/Columbia pissed away the opportunity for this shit. Dose NOBODY know how to make a trailer anymore? God, the sameness of contemporary trailer editing is so fucking lame... I was excited about this project until the two most recent trailer stumbled along; now it looks pretty ho-hum. Hope I'm wrong.

Jews are not heroic - and Rogen is even less heroic because he's a nothing player - he woudn't have existed back in the 70's or 80's - He simply reminds all of the exects in Hollywood of another jew friend they had when they were kids - so they think we should like him too. Fuck you!

Professor_Monster already pointed that out. This trend for turning everything that warrants respect into a 90 minute long crass sitcom episode is getting old. by jaylenotookmyjob

That scene in Pineaapple Express where he's just chillin' in the woods, smoking weed and a grasshopper flies by and he screams "Motherfucker!" at it and runs the other way. Just think, THAT'S the funniest thing he's ever done. It never got any funnier than that one-off, throwaway scene. There's my problem with Rogen right there. That said, he's okay in stuff like 40 Year Old Virgin where's he's just some douchebag friend of the main character. He's okay in shit like that, but as a leading character? Uh... no.

The only reason the 60's show is remembered is Bruce Lee. It lasted for one season, was a failure. There ain't no Bruce Lee, and this looks like a perfectly decent way to look at this character. Seth has the money and the ambition to be something, but Kato has the brains and the muscle. Could be fun, if the guy playing Kato has any personality. I'm willing to giv eit a chance.

I Think You're All Going to Be Surprised

    by cymbalta4thedevil

And pleasantly so. I just have that Feeling for some reason. It all comes down to the SCRIPT. That's what got all these people interested in the first place.Would Gondry have signed on to direct this if he didn't like Rogen and Goldberg's script? They could have got any action/comedy hack who wasn't busy to step in for Chow at the last minute. They go to Gondry? And he accepts? Would he have done that if he didn't think it was worth doing?Would Waltz have signed on to do this after working with Tarantino and winning every supporting actor award on the planet if it didn't give him another scary/comedic villain to sink his teeth into?Would Diaz have taken what could basically be the 3rd or 4th banana chick role any bimbo in Hollywood could have been slotted into, unless it's more than that on the page? These are the guys who gave us SUPERBAD.Could any of you tell how good that was going to be from the trailer? How much heart and soul and sweetness it would have? How rampant the dick jokes would be?These are the guys who got critics darling and fiercely indie David Gordon Green to direct a studio stoner action comedy. They reinvented James Franco's career. And almost let Danny McBride steal the movie. And got Huey Lewis to write an 80's style theme song? This isn't a vanity star vehicle for Rogen. He knows how to write for ensembles. Jay Chou will kick most of the ass, Diaz will remind us why we liked her in the first place and Waltz will play a villain named... Chudnofsky? Will this be a box office giant and a franchise tentpole? Probably not.But it wouldn't have been no matter WHO did it! Nobody in the 21st Century who isn't an old time radio buff or a Bruce Lee fanatic gives a shit about The Green Hornet. Nobody who doesn't live in their mom's basement was ever going to take a guy in a Green Mask and a Fedora and an Asian guy in a Chauffeur's Uniform fighting crime to the "Flight of the Bumblebee" SERIOUSLY.I TRUST these guys. They make fun, funny movies and they don't care about looking cool. This could easily be the BUCKAROO BANZAI of 2011. We may be quoting it 20 years from now. Anyone rooting for it to fail needs to ask themselves why they're so filled with hate and spite.

He could have met Kato there. And Fanboys would have jerked off all over themselves about how The Green Hornet had finally been portrayed "Realistically". i hope rogens 15 minutes are over soon. john cusack plays the same role the same style over and over again but it doesnt get on my nerves like rogen- shlubby sub par albert brooks.

can you imagine neurotic jew comedians in super hero roles? neither can i. next up woody allen as the sub mariner and jonah hill as captain america.
    reeee tarrr dedddd.
gondry seems to be putting nothing interesting in this as it looks directed by any available ratner esque hack. i dont think french directors are good at action or sci fi and that includes luc besson (5th element was wack aside from oldman)

this looks right off the hollywood shit assembly.

im still pissed rogen was in "observe and report" when it was so clearly written for danny mcbride who wouldve been amazing in it..

That was everything I didn't need to know about this movie. Trust me, it'll bomb. Rogen's act is getting tired, and I've only seen ONE of his films (and Pineapple Express wasn't all that good). This looks like they didn't everything the OPPOSITE of what it should have been. The Green Hornet could've been sleak, sharp, and cool - a franchise that you could really gravitate towards and enjoy. This all looks like one note jokes strung together with a random brand name slapped on it for fuck's sake. It'll go nowhere, and never be heard of again. At least, I certainly hope so. I knew this was gonna turn out this way from the moment I heard Seth Rogen was helming and starring in it. Shameful, really.

Seems like this one is almost the same, but has a few little bits trimmed that kill the fun aspect the other had. This one seems too serious, for what I assume, will be sort of an action comedy. And by the way, I think the movie looks way better than what I was expecting, though the tone is also not what I expected. I'm willing to give it a chance.

    Hollywood and the Jewish Problem

    by --- emperor ---

I think it's time all you fuckheads in here got out of your 'politically correct dogmatic slumber' and woke up. It's pretty obvious that there's a Jewish problem in hollywood. Everything these days has become contaminated by Jewish mantras.

How often do we have to see Jews in films yap on about Jewish bullshit (getting their Barmitzwas and making jokes about their foreskins being chopped off etc)...I mean, you have the bullshit Adam Sandler schtick, who thinks being a Jewish Comedian is hilarious and that every movie of his should have some Jewish anecdotes (like we give a fuck), and then you have Seth Rogen, the same Jewish Schtick over and over again...

It's brainwashing the masses into trying to 'accept' the Jews as funny, decent, people. Does this mean they are not funny and/or decent? I will not comment on this, except, I will state the following: Why are they trying so damn hard to convince us?

I find it amusing how Jews (and non-Jews) immediately jump on the "antisemitism" bandwagon -- like that's the explanation for every anti-Jewish sentiment(s) uttered. How convenient. Look, the holocaust happened over 60 years ago. Get over it. Stop blaming all your current problems and received backlashes on remnant "Nazis" of mid-20th Century Germany. It's all too convenient to be simple minded these days. Just because the lot of you experienced a wide-scale gassing in history, doesn't mean your errors, prior or subsequent, are immune to criticism. That doesn't mean that mass-genocide is acceptable either. So the Germans committed an error of judgment in that respect. This, however, doesn't exclude you from critique, nor does it detract from the fact that Jews are a big problem in contemporary society (as they always have been). How does this relate to a movie forum? Well, I opened up the debate for the Jewish problem in Hollywood. I didn't state anything "Nazi"-like, which too is a very limited conception of the world. It's time for Jews to grow up, and get over their historical suffering, and stop blaming their problems on others. It's been a long time coming.

I am not anti-semitic. It would be all too convenient to convince yourself of such. It would make it easier for you to waste an entire paragraph on pathetic and unfunny scatological humor (picked up from staying behind in 5th grade a few too many times). I stated clearly that there is a Jewish Problem in Hollywood, and Rogen is a part of it. I also stated that this can be seen in the highly disproportionate amount of Jewish-Culture references in a huge array of 'comedies' as well as gangster films, action films, and the like. These are all facts. Another fact is a highly disproportionate amount of Jews representing Hollywood interests. All of this is real. Once you reach the mental development of a mature ape, you may reply to this post. Seeing as you will never reach that level, I'll just ignore monkeys like you and Amfpsych (learn to spell, retards) from now on. Cheers, dumbasses.

Even though what you typed is completely stupid, I will reply to it, because at least you 'tried' to be reasonable (yet failed).

No, I do not think at all that there is a 'conspiracy'. Conspiracy would imply something shady and planned. The Jewish problem in hollywood is neither shady, nor 'planned'. It's just a reality. Jews do control a large chunk of Hollywood (fact), so it's not surprising that much of the films ignoramuses like you and characters like HCB and Amfpsych consume with your whole-hearted and anal-spread acceptance is contaminated with all sorts of Jewish mantras. I am not even going to get into it. You either see it and hear it, or you don't. Bother somebody else with your broad-leveled ignorance.

Regarding your comment about blacks and their 'jokes'. That certainly is a problem (in terms of art and culture), but that is not a Hollywood problem. The Blacks are not in any way trying to manipulate masses despite their world-wide criminal behaviour. In terms of art and culture, they are significantly lacking behind the Jews. The Jews have an enormously influential position in Hollywood when it comes to the material that's produced. It falls into the category of either "dumbed-down garbage" or "mass-propaganda". The fact that they control much of the world's banks and financial and political as well as scientific agendas, shouldn't surprise those who seek to understand the sickeningly numerous mantras and cultural references pumped out by their Hollywood machine. Is this a conspiracy? No. Like I said, it's open and transparent for all to see. And that's the point. Commit the act in the open, and nobody will hold it against you.

I am sure not all of them are orthodox, but it's a convenient umbrella term none the less. Once again, I do not have a personal issue with Jews. Some of my good friends (past and present), are Jews, working in all sorts of different industries, including the entertainment industry. However, I am commenting on a real problem that is not resolved by the usual ad hominem attacks perpetrated by the dumb, self-appointed guardians of the sacred Jewish race, such as HCB and Ampfpsych. There's a ton of hate for the film, between Chow fans and the anti-Seth Rogen crowd, but the movie should still do well. by --- emperor ---

Calling me a troll makes me one. Yep, because you said so (and read an article no less). Okay. I can tell you aced high school. I am sorry, monkey man, but I am finished with university and all the glory that comes with having achieved high distinctions and sex orgies during university. Aww. That doesn't fit into your imbecilic contrivance and irrelevant ad hominem attacks, now does it. see, Star Hump, you really are quite dumb. Attacking my writing style and/or personality doesn't detract from my arguments, nor does it in any way add weight to your insipid retort. There's isn't a single intelligent or useful or content-based remark you submitted. It's nothing more than spiteful nonsense that relates to nothing that's been discussed in this thread. And this is where your intelligence (or lack thereof) comes in. It's always easier to attack the person, than the argument. Yes, go along, accuse me of being a virgin that didn't get past high school. If that fails, add a good old bit of "troll guide 101" to it, to try to pad your weak and ineffectual 'thesis'. Yup, the verdict is out. Star Hump is a first class dumb cunt that would have failed even the most basic critical thinking class in 1st year university. And yes, I do like to discuss intelligence. I have it. You don't. Now, fuck off. Idiot.

As far as Green Hornet goes..I'm surprised that many people give a shit about this really. Bruce Lee is what made the tv show interesting at all.
Since I'm not totally sick of Seth Rogen ( yet), I'm willing to give the movie a shot as a decent popcorn flick.Could be worse. If you disagree just think what Frank Miller would have done with it.Now that gives the movie geek manchild inside me night terrors.

Superman's creators were Jewish and the character itself has long expressed elements from Jewish history and legend (Moses, Sampson, The Golem, etc.) and a desire to asimilate and be accepted.
Hell, even the name Superman is almost a F U to Hitler and the Nazis for their racist view of the Ubermensch (Superman was even banned in Germany around WWII for being "too Jewish."

I have to admit you're right. In full disclosure I am one of the Jews you refer to who owns Hollywood. My unofficial title is vp in charge of Jew propoganda. I screen every big studio movie and my job is to "Jew it up" a bit. I usually do so by adding a cgi bagel here and there or making noses larger. Our stated goal is to make scumbag losers like yourself bitter and angry until the day you die. Speilberg leads our meetings and I'm going to bring him a trandscript of this tb. It will make him very happy to see your bitterness and stupidity. Also, and again this is a bit awkward to bring up in a tb, I've been sleeping with your mum. So good luck with that.

Don't worry about the many morons here. I once mentioned the mere *fact* that Hollywood is run by Jews and I got pounced upon as a rampant anti-Semite within seconds flat, despite the fact that the majority of my closest friends, some exes, etc, have been Jewish.

Perhaps your phrasing wasn't delicate enough, but I see what you're saying. The truth is Jews do control Hollywood and Hollywood puts out 99% utter shit. I think most people who come to this site would agree with that - but you mentioned Jews so instead they'll try to hang you.

I'm not saying there's a direct correlation between Jews and poor quality work. Obviously that's not true, as countless examples in history prove. by mechasheeva

Seriously, other than the marginal "Funny People", he's been pretty aces in everything. In "Observe and Report" his unassuming creepiness and bipolarity really got under my skin in a great way. As for this movie, I think it looks fun, with Gondry at the helm I doubt this will end up as formulaic as it works, and Waltz will be a joy to watch. But there's one shot that actually got me excited: notice when Kato throws the wrench (?) at the bad guy and kicks him, and the car's image multiplies as he flies back? Looks like a Gondry-style trick tailored to suit an action flick, and the idea of much more of that is damn cool.

You can argue that there's facts to support your position all you like, but you're still making a logical fallacy in your so-called reasoning.Just because there's a high percentage of Jewish people in a particular industry, doesn't mean they run it, control it, or have undue influence on it.By that logic, the Irish are taking over the worlds pubs.Oh, and you didn't just say "By the way there's a lot of Jews in Hollywood." I don't think anyone could dispute that statement. You specifically called it a "Jewish problem."For which you no doubt need some sort of "solution". Perhaps a "Final" one?

    by joed

because he is a successful version of themselves. He kinda looks like them, but he's lost some weight recently, so he's got that. He gets to play a superhero in the movies. He has funnier friends and gets to do what makes him happy. By contrast, most of the people here are angry and bitter failures overwhelmed by the stench of their own Cheetos. My thoughts on Rogen? He's a bit overexposed, but it's kind of popular to hate him now. I still think he's pretty funny given the right material. Perhaps not the right choice for this movie, but worse things have happened. The fact that there are Green Hornet fanboys is a sad commentary on our culture.

But what you may find interesting is that none of the discussion is centered around your race-baiting, but rather your fierce desire to be perceived as intelligent. Sorry junior, but a grasp of punctuation does not make you smart by default, nor does the fact that you went to college and got your dick up. The world is filled with educated idiots who can regurgitate with the best of them, but it is only through their words that they reveal their lack of empathy for humanity and, consequently, a fundamental lack of understanding of what makes us human. by darth_von_stroheim

... but let's be honest here. The Green Hornet, more than any other super-hero/costumed vigilante really doesn't quite work outside of a particular setting. In the case of the Hornet, that setting really should be the late 50s or early 60s. Same obviously goes for something like Dick Tracy, which really belongs in a 1930s setting. I wonder if there's ever a chance we'll get a good adaptation of something unspeakably pulpy like Doc Savage or The Phantom (a new Phantom couldn't be much worse than that Godawful movie with Billy Zane)? Would it be too much to hope that Wonder Woman (whenver the hell it actually gets made) won't blow? I would love to see an actress like Cate Blanchett as WW, but I think she's a little too old now, and from the point of view of execs, not enough of crowd-drawing hottie, like the talentless Megan Fox.

If Jews control everything everywhere and they're also obsessed with making money (that is the stereotype, right?) then why is the world's economy in the crapper? Why are the movies so poor and unoriginal, thus creating less revenue? How does that line the Hebrew pockets? And how are the Jews degrading films' quality? How specifically? Am I giving the Jew-bashers too much credence here? Frankly I'm not a big fan of Rogen's, but it's got nothing to do with him being a Jew. Too much wannabe Iron Man, not enough Green Hornet. This is not a particularly difficult concept to apply to film, but I guess we're going to see more and more knockoffs of the first Iron Man movie. Seth Rogan ain't RDJ though, and the tone set here just says lazy. I get putting Kato into the operation as the brains, the studio remembers how fucking popular the '60s TV show was in Asia with Bruce Lee as Kato and think they can repeat that. But here it seems to be at the expense of the main character, which is offputting to me and likely to western audiences in general.

Hollywood and the Jewish Problem: Addendum

    by --- emperor ---

Now, I want to try to end this discussion with some thoughts, mainly to prove the naysayers wrong as well as make my point a little clearer. Now, I am not going to address the idiots in this forum, such as Ampfpsych. A mindless idiot will remain a mindless idiot and continue dribbling away about worthless, irrelevant pseudo-counters to a debate. But I will address some of the more genuine remarks. Firstly, V'Shael: I understand your point. I understand how there are many idiots out there who do blame the Jews for everything. They are mindless idiots, roughly on the same level as an Amfpsych who shouts "anti-semite" at anybody who dares critique a Jew collective. I also understand that one has to be careful with one's logic. After all, many Jews are just people trying to make their way through life achieving the best they can from it, like everybody else. However, call me crazy, but the sheer number of overexposed Jewish culture references scattered throughout so many films within the last 1 or 2 decades, made me wonder the following: Is it intentional or is it unintentional? Are the 20 or so odd barmitzwa/jew culture references all a coincidence instituted by the Hollywood elite, or just happy, well-meaning fun? Well, from my own perspective, I am not an anti-semite at all. I do not look into details for Jewish mantras and start pointing the finger wherever I can. But after the 20th or 30th odd barmitzwa reference (most recently the one I saw in Funny People), I became quite irritated throughout the entire film. Once again, throughout the first few times, it just flies past you and you don't really notice it (but the brain does). But consciously, once you realize that the last 10 movies you watched in the cinema, ranging from comedy, to action to drama, had almost always without fail injected all these Jewish mantras (notably neglecting to reference other cultures from this planet), you begin to feel the Jewish dominance in Hollywood all too uncomfortably. How does this relate to this particular forum (Green Hornet)? Well, I am almost 100% sure that Rogen will be a spoiled Jewish Playboy, who eventually gives up his wild side to fight crime. I mean, the guy was a Jew in almost every fucking movie he was in (compare this with other cultures who have to become 'americanized' when in many Hollywood films, such as Australian actors, British actors, etc). How many Australian or British culture references have you experienced in the past 10 movies? How many Arab? How many Indian? How many Chinese (unless they were pathetic, unfunny 'jokes' of course). Now, sure some people will say I am sensitive or a 'do-gooder'. Far from it, however. I am actually quite fucking pissed off at this sad state of affairs. I am pissed off, that nearly every film produced these days (I am sure "Get Him to the Greek" had a few Jewish culture references as well) has to shove the Jewish Mantra down people's throats. It's become so rampant, that you cannot help but wonder if this is in fact something more sinister, rather than all good-natured 'fun'. So here we are again, with another pathetic Rogen vehicle, where he gets to let the audience know how cool and laid-back and good natured the Jews are. My question is: Why try so hard to convince the masses? And this is where deeper logic sets in. Look at all the hatred the Jews have been receiving in the past 10-15 years in regards to the Palestinian problem. Yes, I know they have always copped it in the past before, but it has intensified over the last decade. More and more clans are trying to join up on the "Jew Hate" bandwagon. A while ago you had people holding up signs with slogans such as "GOD BLESS HITLER" etc. It is quite logical to presume that Hollywood is trying damn fucking hard to counter this by injecting a massively disproportionate amount of Jewish culture into the audience's minds, to counter this backlash and subtly manipulate the audience into 'accepting' the Jew as one of them. Once again, I wish to make clear, that this does not imply that we SHOULD NOT accept the Jew. This doesn't mean we should be hateful or spiteful toward them. This is not my point. My point is, bombarding the masses with hidden agendas to counter political and socio-economic rhetoric is mass manipulation. And guess what? All you fuckers who have come in here and yelled at me (and others) who dared question the Jew, have all been fooled into it! You are exactly the people that have become the fodder for this bombardment. I will once again say that I have Jewish friends and that they have achieved magnificent things in world history (arguably more than any other single blood line). This, however, doesn't immunize them from critique, nor does it detract from my argument. The fact that the public is so perversely and vehemently bombarded with stupidity as well (not Jewish mantras), begs the question: Is this also done on purpose to dumb down/subdue the masses? This, I am not sure about. All I know is, in the past, films were of much higher caliber (hence the expression: they don't make 'em like that anymore). Now, we have bits and pieces here and there of a good or great movie. It's nothing what it used to be. Why this is so, can be debated and certainly not the fault of Hollywood Jews alone. I am however, increasingly perplexed as to why I have to find out in almost every movie that our main protagonist is a Jew trying to battle it out against all odds. And if it's not the main character, he certainly is thrown in there for good measure to "Jewify" the movie. I wouldn't have as much of a problem with this if a quarter or half of the world's population were Jewish. But it's clear to almost anybody, that they not only over-represent the elite behind the scenes in Hollywood, but also on camera (real or contrived). People who still think this is just some anti-semitic 'conspiracy' theory, ask yourself this question: What other way to dumb-down masses and make the masses comfortable with the Jew? It's the motion picture, of course. Ironically, it was the Nazis who started with this sort of propaganda. They made elaborate, lavish attempts to showcase the might and overbearing brilliance of the pure-bred German and the Fatherland it fights for. Almost every week a German propaganda film would have been released in Nazi Germany to celebrate its glory. Now draw the parallels with modern-day Hollywood, and any discerning observer will note that this no longer can be defended with the usual 'conspiracy' theory rhetoric. And as for you, "Franky 5 Fingers", I really do not care what your biased Jew buddies think. Calling me a "book worm" or accusing me of regurgitating scholastic knowledge to somehow denigrate my intelligence, is NOT an intelligent way to argue. Once again, you have shown how decidedly UNintelligent you and your Jewish pals are: By attacking the Individual, instead of the argument. I rest my case.

Name 5 movies in the last 10 years in which a barmitzvah played into the plot? Mainstream movies. Most movies with weddings or sacraments take place in church. Also using the term "the Jew" is dehumanizing and if you have any intelligence you know this. The main point is that the masses vote with there wallets. People will see movies they want to see and studios will try to capitalize on trends such as vampires recently. I don't care if you say Jews run Hollywood because there are plenty of Jewish people in high positions. However, when you say that Jews are a threat in civilization ( which you did) or call it "the Jewish problem" as you know hitler coined the phrase, this is just blatant baiting and hate mongering and you know it. So stop trying to hide behind rhetoric and fuck off.

    Seth Rogan-Michael Keaton comparison

    by outsidechance

People were up in arms about Keaton as Batman precisely because everyone assumed he'd play it as a comedy and do his usual "wacky loser" persona. Keaton surprised everyone by NOT doing that. In contrast, Rogan is clearly doing with Green Hornet exactly what Keaton didn't do with Batman.

This one is overtly based on existing mythology... but pop mythology that has laid dormant long of enough for me to no longer really hold sacred... So desecrate away, boys. Just make it funny. I don't see any Nolan-esque resurgance of Green Hornet in quality and/or popularity occuring any time soon short of them actually hiring Nolan anyway. And that would be a kind of waste of his talent. I'm totally down for an irreverant Green Hornet. Fuck it, if this doesn't work, give that bitch to Lloyd Kaufman.

    by redkamel

    Your argument is meaningless
-why would people need to become comfortable with "the jew"? Its not like a foreign culture, they are basically white people.
-The reason bar mitzvhas are in so many movies is because a lot of US movies are about white people. Which include jewish people. Go watch Mexican Movies and there will be some quincinieras. Go watch Bollywood and there will be Indian parties.
-if you watch Hollywood movies, basically all you can gather about jewish people is that they have bar mitzvahs. Is there ever anything about Passover? Shellfish? Kosher? No. The jewish religion is barely referred to in 99% of movies.
Re: Jewsish heroes: I havent seen a star of david on a screen in years. Just cause an actor is jewish, or theres a mention of a bat mitzvah, doesnt mean the movie is "jewified" or its about a "jew trying to beat the odds".

My mistake on word micning. No conspiracy, but there is a problem. Obviously you think something is wrong with Jews, since you like to use the words such as "contaminated". Please explain. What race do you think should "control" Hollywood? Or should all races and religions be represented equally? Here is the rest of the argument for you: "But THEN that would be out of racial porportion and Jews would be over represented, those cunning bastards! So they should be by porportion! Then the whites would control Hollywood as it is meant to be."
Please describe some Jewish mantras. Or are they so subtle and secret only the chosen can see these messages?
Blacks are a problem too now? Worldwide criminal behavior? Ok man. If you really want to compare crimes, read some history. Most of them are by the warlike paleskins from the North, who only value money. You seriously think Jews control movies and the banking industry? Thats like saying Indian people control the convenience store world. And even if Jewish people are over-represented in an industry...WHO CARES? What are they going to do?I dont even know why I am arguing with you. You use weighted language, no facts, no references, no argument, just random circular reasoning and vague allusions. You project about the situation, but not what it means. "The Jews will brainwash me'. Even if that was happening (somehow, I guess, by Jews being in movies) what are they implanting? What is the result? What is their goal?

    by professor_monster

Why don't you investigate yourself just how many Hollywood studios are run by Jews. After you do that, check and see how many Agencies are run by them as well. Then look at the top people at the New York times or any other major publication. You'll either find out it's a simple fact that they are all Jew owned and controlled or you'll simply shy away because you feel discovering such things is anti-semetic.

Los Angeles is made up of mostly hispanics, yet they only represent 3% or the Hollywood industry - If you look at any other business, the people who live in that area are the workers in that business. He who controls the megaphone. I simply don't understand why conditioning and manipulation of the American people is soooo far fetched an idea. William Randolph Hearst did it with one fucking newspaper for years. HG Welles once called Jews termites - describing the way they operate - hiding in the foundation, devouring it at the cost of sound structure, no thought given to those who are not one of them. When we start seeing Palistinian points of view on the evening news - have you seen how many musicians are banning Isreal from world tours because of their treatment of the Palistinians - no, of course you haven't - because that would mean the news was showing something negative about Isreal - which is something they hardly ever do.

Redkamel et al: You have not convinced me (or anybody else).

    by --- emperor ---

    1) The "world-wide criminal behaviour" remark was intended for the Jews, not the Blacks. It was a poor choice of words. If you re-read the sentence, I wrote, paraphrasing "The Blacks don't do what the Jews do, despite their world-wide crim. behaviour". I had implied that the Jews try to mask their world-wide criminal behavior, and that the Blacks do not do this. A better choice of words: "The Blacks do not try to manipulate masses in order to mask their world-wide criminal behavior." 2) I understand your points and concerns regarding "empty arguments", but I fail to see how my argument is empty. It's not just the "barmitzwah" references as well as allusions to Jewish Culture. In so many films we openly hear main characters claiming to be "Jewish". So many of them. Considering that the Jews represent 1 or 2 percent of U.S. demographics (I have to check the exact figure, so don't hold this against me, my point is it's a very small percent), yet are showcased in films over 50%, is a clear "Jewish Problem". It's a clear over-representation within a film itself, with unarguably deeper implications. 3) Please do not be simple minded. I really do not have to hear your shallow opinion pertaining to Indians running convenience stores or Turks running Kebab shops. THAT'S what I'd call a 'no-clothes' argument. There is a clear, logical connection between the Jewish Hollywood propaganda machine and the world-wide political and economic climate. What the implications are, I'll leave up to others to speculate on. My opinion remains, and I continue to object to the methods used in modern films. Your "Mexican culture" argument, is also weak, because this is not a dilemma regarding patriotism and national pride. The fact that you resort to such simplified and hollow retorts, make me wonder if you are trying to defend foul play, or are simply a part of it yourself. The Jewish references (where the audience almost invariably is told which character(s) are Jewish etc), are not mere good-natured throwbacks that could be compared to the national spirit of any other nation state. If you truly argued in that manner, then next to every single country on this planet with a media and film industry would be guilty of this 'crime'. I'll put it this way: Nazi propaganda might also have been considered by some 'insiders' as "innocent national pride". Only posterity has managed to contradict that rhetoric. The same applies to the Jewish Problem in Hollywood. I fear, only posterity will prove how it was part of the globalization agendas of international Jewry and its helpers. I maintain the following: this latest pathetic Rogen vehicle will just be another shitfest in an endless line of shitfests produced by their Hollywood propaganda machine -- the party-loving, rich Jewish playboy who finally realizes the errors of his ways and chooses to help society by fighting crime. Funny, that just reminds me the hypocrisies and incompetences of the International Monetary Fund and its subsidiaries. We still haven't solved the world's problems, yet we are continuously bombarded with messages, trying to assure us that "everything is being done so solve them". Most people just have stopped being critical, due to the obvious success of these methods. "Just inject the masses with a potent dosage of mind-numbing repetitive bullshit mantras, and they'll be too intoxicated to judge", is their philosophy. This applies to the Media as well as the Hollywood Film Industry. The gleeful hypnotized monkey has no reason to wake out of its subdued slumber. Ignorance is bliss.

Since you gave me a civil answer, I'll respond in kind. You remind me of a man who didn't know he had black neighbours living one street over, until he happened to leave his house one day and turn left instead of right.Your recent onslaught of Jewish references, bar-mitzvahs, and what not, is a statistical glitch. I watch a metric fuckton of movies and tv. I haven't noticed any relative increase in Jewish references. That said, I didn't see Funny People. Now, I'm used to a certain amount of Jewish humour in my American comedy. Whether it's Woody Allen movies, or Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, or hell, even the shenanigans on the Larry Sanders Show. It was Jewish comedians who introduced me to the concepts and stereotypes of shiksas (sp?) and neurotic Jewish mothers, and g'filka-fish (spelling again?) and Dreidel's.I don't see this as a problem. It is a symptom perhaps of how many Jewish writers and producers work in Television and Hollywood. But the fact that you seem to have noticed a relative increase in positive portrayal of Jewish customs in your movie viewing, says more perhaps about the movies you've chosen to watch recently. On a final point, watching as much TV/movies as I do, I haven't found my attitude towards the Jewish people, Zionism, or the state of Israel and their actions towards the Palestinians, altered in any way shape or form. I'm still anti-Zionist, still likely to be reflexively called an anti-Semite or terrorist sympathiser, still pro-Jewish, still anti-circumcision. The only things that are likely to change these opinions, won't come in the form of a movie or an entertaining TV show.

V'Shael: You may well be in the minority, I believe.

    by --- emperor ---

Thanks for the good and reflective post. I believe our opinions simply represent an acquisition and processing of different forms of information. My information comes from different sources than yours, and obviously you most probably watch more movies than I do. That's a fair point. In fact, I used to be a very frequent movie goer in my teens, but that enthusiasm just fizzled. I no longer spend much time in the cinema, although I do download my fair share of films. Now, obviously, my conundrum is delicate, because there can be put forward good arguments for and against. I do not deny this, nor do I claim my arguments to be the final say in the matter. My arguments, however, do form a strong opinion in my mind, and I believe you look upon this as more 'coincidental' and 'over-analyzed'. But, I do ask you, to just read more about the world-wide socio-economic state. I ask you to read more about history, in particular Jewish history (or their roles within world history). I am not asking you to become an irrational anti-semite who sees conspiracies in every single corner and niche. I am simply asking you to observe our planet in a more broad perspective. Maybe you do not care enough or don't have the time. This is all up to you. This is not about me trying to convince you either. You're entitled to your opinion, especially if you argue in a rational and dispassionate manner (unlike some in this forum). If this information helps: I used to be very pro-Jewish in almost every respect. I used to dismiss claims pertaining to their manipulative and criminal intent as "mindless anti-semitism". And you know what happened? I became more educated. I went to university. I began to question everything. I began to try to get to the root of every problem in this world. And no, I am not implying that this is the Jew. But I must state that they have played an exceptionally important role in that, nonetheless. Now, once again, even if you started studying more, and even if you DID change your opinion, this really wouldn't make a difference in the larger order of things. I am, however, maintaining that the Israel problem is but a microcosm of the world-wide problem and that the Hollywood problem is simply a part of it.

At the risk of getting way way off topic...You're way off base on a couple of things. 1) You assume (possibly because I didn't agree with you) that I must not be as well informed about the world wide economic state. 2) You use phrases like "jewish problem" or "the jew". That's as much of a signal/red-flag as hearing someone say that they have a friend who "is a gay" as opposed to "is gay". Whether you like it or not, these phrases are markers for anti-Semitism. If you genuinely want to engage people in a discussion, you can't use them.So you went to university. You read some Chomsky, some Zinn, maybe even some Robert Fisk. Whatever. You realised that the carefully crafted but paradoxical flim-flam of history you'd been taught was little more than a myth, and you have learned some things that turned you from being Pro-Jewish. Ok.Israel, like the US and the UK has its problems. None of them are as nice as they would like people to think. They all have dark seedy underbellys. Most, if not all, countries do.But when you think of world-wide problems, it's a mistake to think of some sort of Jewish cabal pulling strings like some renegade chapter of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Most of the worlds problems are a matter of wealth and power being exercised in the pursuit, acquisition and maintenance of the same wealth and power. For every Jewish family like the Rothschilds, you could name an American family like the Rockefellers. Bankers one and all, but not necessarily Jewish. When someone starts trying to point out how many Jewish members of the Bilderberg group there are, or attended last years Bohemian Grove party, or whatever... don't mistake causation and correlation. The Jewish people value education in a way that most cultures don't, sadly. Education is a mitzvah. They do (stereotype alert) also know the value of a dollar and days work. They are proportionately higher in financing, sure, but also as Doctors, for example. Helping their fellow man. Where does the higher percentage of Jewish doctors fit into this "world-wide-problem"?I think you are guilty of a classic logical fallacy, but in any case, the AICN talkbacks is probably not the place for such a discussion.

I agree this has gotten out of hand and it's not the appropriate place for discussion. All of the points you raised, I already considered, believe me. I had already considered them well before I started posting about this issue here. I am not an individual who selects his information to suit a particular bias. I have weighed in all information. I know that (as I mentioned before) many Jews do good in this world. In fact, I stated specifically earlier on in this debate how productive the Jews have been throughout world history. I am not selecting my sources to bolster my argument. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and sometimes, that which is in front of you, is indeed what's in front of you, and there's nothing 'deeper' involved. My arguments have been quite simple and matter-of-fact, but I believe the deeper issues involved (such as every culture having their fair share of blood and problems on their hands -- an old argument) still doesn't detract from my original thesis. Let's not get side tracked here. Yes, I did suggest you read more, and it seems you have read a few things. That's great. But there is much more to read than what you have put forward, because your points were not what convinced me of this problem in the first place. So in other words, what I'm trying to articulate is: The facts you have listed, while well known to me, ARE not what convinced me of this problem. There are many other issues, and this is delving into deep and questionable territory, which I am not going to discuss now. As you put, this isn't the appropriate arena to debate this matter. I am simply commenting on the Hollywood Problem, and I continue to maintain that this is a wide-scale propaganda vessel to manipulate the masses. Not in the same vein as the Nazi Germany phenomenon, but arguably more effective and certainly more subtle. And I believe there is no logical fallacy within my position.
