Why can't the US poster for Piranha 3-D be this cool?
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The French have given us many great things. The Statue of Liberty, French Fries, Renoir, Godard, Truffaut, Alain Delon, Catherine Deneuve and now we're getting the French Piranha 3-D poster via the filmsactu.com.

I love the comparisons around the web to JAWS and while there is an obvious influence, I think people need to check out the poster to Joe Dante's Piranha:
So, there's more of a throwback to that, which itself was a take on the JAWS poster. But yeah, sweet, right? I have a feeling this flick is going to stupid, gory fun.

Fuck PIRAHNA, I have the world's first review of INCEPTION in my hands from Empire should anyone be interested...
I'm not going to type the whole thing out but it's uber positive - 5 stars out of 5. Although it seems to caution the film may be too brainy for the unwashed masses. Here's the summation:
"Like THE MATRIX mated with SYNEDOCHE NEW YORK - or a Charlie Kaufman 007."
"To paraphrase CASINO ROYALE's Vesper Lynd, it's a meaningful pursuit in a summer of disposable entertainments. With physics-defying, thunderous action, heart-wringing emotion and an astonishing performance from DiCaprio, Nolan delivers another true original."
So probably better than THE LAST AIRBENDER then... -

Sorry. It does really well on DVD, but many U.S. moviegoers don't like movies that appear cheesy on purpose. Just look at the grosses of SNAKES ON A PLANE or GRINDHOUSE. It is a wonderful poster, and the movie looks like cartoonish fun, but if I were the studio and thinking of the U.S., I wouldn't use it either.

There were a half early Robin Hood reviews on this site, nada for Predators. I guess Harry doesn't want to piss off his "pal" Robert Rodriguez. That's the price you pay for ass tonguing Hollywood. And for what? Freebies? Sad.

THE VERDICT
Forget all about the overblown comic-book-style Alien vs Predators movies. This brutal fantasy actioner harks back to the original 1987 Predator movie (which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger at his action-man best) and packs the screen with thrills, spills, blood and bullets.
Brody makes an unlikely, though convincing, hero as a mercenary who tries to pull together a disparate group of killers to take on the alien Predators that are after them. Braga is great as the black ops sharpshooter, while Fishburne is perfect as the steely-eyed killer who's seen it all. -

If Inception really is that good, the only negative will be that we have to continue to suffer the embarrassing hero worship from teen fanboys who jumped on the Nolan bandwagon because of TDK and now fellate their great God like complete goons. Thanks for the heads-up on the INCEPTION review. The film looks pretty cool and I'm really interested to see the work of the cast (especially Tom Hardy). Although, I don't buy the "...too brainy for the unwashed masses." hype. Sounds like pre-emptive spin for the possible need to drum up box-office buzz. And by the sounds of it, Nolan and his wife/producer don't agree with that sentiment either.

We all have a major decision about Inception

Do we avoid the advance reviews and minor/major spoilers and get our minds totally blown as pure Inception "virgins" when we see it? Or is the temptation to know more too great, and we learn some major spoilage which diminishes the impact? I'm going for the former. It'll be painful not clicking on the links but worth it in the long run.

...let me tell you that Mega-Piranha is one of the twenty best giant piranha movies ever made. It has: Giant piranhas. A guy from the Brady Bunch That one woman who sang at malls when she was a teenager about thirty years ago. The same bad effects shot used six times within five minutes at the climax of the movie. And no, I am not exaggerating. Nuclear warfare. And piranhas who do not care. A subplot about terrorism that is ended pretty nearly without comment by a helicopter disaster. It's a number four. Seriously, the same effects shot used six times in a five minute period. Yeah, there haven't been 20 giant piranha movies in film history. I stand by my statement.

It's none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. Turns out he is doing 2 cameos this summer. However, his cameo is in the role of Mr. Freeze. I saw it last night. He walks onto the space planet and says to one of the creatures "It's time to chill out!" The whole audience cheered! Avatar is going down brother!

Not surprised it wasn't used for the US release. We need a CGI Piranha and a huge date on the poster to get any attention from anyone here. That poster above implies SOME awareness of the "grindhouse" era, etc... and truth be told... it's not that people don't LIKE that era... it's that most of today's generation just isn't aware it existed, etc. Many have never HEARD of an exploitation movie outside of a Quentin Tarantino film commentary. -
