THE CW NETWORK ANNOUNCES FALL PREMIERE DATES

"AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL" CYCLE 15 AND NEW DRAMA "HELLCATS" KICK-OFF THE CW'S FIFTH BROADCAST SEASON ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8

HIGHLY ANTICIPATED "NIKITA" TO PREMIERE FOLLOWING HIT "THE VAMPIRE DIARIES" ON SEPTEMBER 9

June 30, 2010 (Burbank, CA) - The CW Network has set its fall premiere schedule, launching its fifth broadcast season with 10 hours of original programming of returning favorites and two new series.

On Wednesday, September 8, Cycle 15 of the hit reality series AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) kicks-off the 2010-2011 season, followed by the series premiere of new drama HELLCATS (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET). HELLCATS is a pumped-up drama about a young pre-law student (Aly Michalka, "Bandslam") whose world is turned upside-down when she loses her scholarship and has to join the college's competitive cheerleading squad. This fun, energetic series is a behind-the-scenes look at the drama, politics and pressure surrounding the football program at a Southern university. Ashley Tisdale ("High School Musical") also stars as a young woman who is totally committed to the cheerleading squad to realize her dreams.

On Thursday, September 9, the network's #1 show, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) returns for a second season and leads into new action-drama series NIKITA (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET). NIKITA stars international action-film star and martial arts expert Maggie Q ("Mission Impossible III") in the title role as a spy and assassin for a top secret U.S. government agency, who rebels against the system that created her and will stop at nothing to bring their powerful operation to an end.

On Monday, September 13, viewers will get the best of both coasts when the third season premiere of 90210 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) leads into the season four premiere of GOSSIP GIRL (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET).

On Friday, September 24, SMALLVILLE (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) kicks-off its tenth and final season with the non-stop action and classic DC Comics characters viewers love, followed by the sixth season of SUPERNATURAL (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET).

    Smallville

    by my pretty pony

This is the first time a final season of "Smallville" has been announced. No one ever came out and said any previous seasons were going to be the last. Speculation doesn't count.

    Also the CW is...

really lining itself up for failure. It should really cut the middle man out and just rechristen itself Logo2.

    Supernatural back already?

    by amy chasing

Feels like the last episode was only a month or so ago. Ah well, that's pretty cool.

Now why does it take so much longer for Dexter to come back on (ended last December, new eps in September)?

I was hoping the answer was "Never"!

    by meta

All these shitty series belong on "Lifetime" at best. Otherwise they don't deserve to even be broadcast.

    DARKSEID IS

    by spyguy

C'mon, that HAD to be Granny Goodness in the Season 9 finale and all this talk of a coming "apocalypse"? Yeah, Ol' Stone-Face is on the way (presuming this version even has a stone face, that is.)

    Friday night Supernatural/Smallville?

    by jbs9200

Christ, if you're going to put them on that time slot, you may as well just release it to DVD as soon as the season premiere.

I'm still fifteen episodes behind on Smallville.

    by shermdawg

And not the slightest urge to get to them, and after that Supernatural finale, I may skip out on season six. Totally unnecessary.

    Supernatural...yeah...

    by master bruce

the last 2 yrs or so they were selling the 5th season as the last, w/the final battle between heaven & hell to be the swansong for the Winchester boys. I dig the show, & was sorry to hear the end was near...but then, they changed their minds & did a rush job ending to the storyline that didn't completely work. And how the hell-pardon the pun-do they top Armageddon?

    Supernatural 6

    by jbs9200

I just hope it doesn't suck as bad a Buffy 6 & 7. Granted the Buffy 5 finale wasn't good enough to end the show, but that was what Joss intended it to be.
Buffy 6 & 7 were rudderless at best.
The finale of Supernatural 5 was about a good as it could get. I think it is a bad decision to go on.
That said, I'll probably watch and hope it doesn't F' up what came before.

The CW shouldn't even qualify as a network

It's shows are way worse than the WB ever was with that Dawson's Creek shit.

Supernatural fumbled the ball for the Season 5 ender

    by v'shael

But I have to wonder how much of that was done, so that they could continue with a Season 6?I mean, the decision to run a 6th season was out of Kripke's hands, no? That's why he's not a showrunner this year?If network interference said "Oh, and don't scorch-earth the series. We're doing a 6th year", that could easily have scuppered whatever original ending Kripke had planned.I'd like to believe that it was studio interference, because Kripke had done some excellent work with that show. It'd be a shame to think he went nowhere with it in the end.

    Season Six of Supernatural

    by lock67ca

Yes, a slightly flawed season finale, obviously due to the decision to bring it back. If season six does end up sucking, we can always look at "Swan Song" as the true series finale, just as it was originally intended and forget season six ever existed.

    That "Hellcats" description

    by bizarrojerry

That is a funny description of the show's premise, when you compare it to the commercials. The ads make it look like it's some kind of college sex comedy.
