Janeane Garofalo To Star In
CBS' CRIMINAL MINDS II??

I am – Hercules!!
Gen X comedian and “Larry Sanders Show” icon Janeane Garofalo, who joined “The West Wing” and “24” late in their runs, is now negotiating to join CBS’ midseason “Criminal Minds” spin-off, according to Deadline Hollywood.
This could be Garofalo’s third turn playing an FBI agent, following her turns in “Clay Pigeons” and “24.”
From writer-producers Chris Mundy (“Line of Fire,” “Cold Case”) and Edward Allen Bernero (“Brooklyn South,” “Third Watch”), the spin-off follows another team of FBI behavioral analysis unit operatives. Garofalo’s co-stars include Forest Whitaker (“The Shield,” “Repo Men”) and Beau Garrett (“Made of Honor,” “Tron Legacy”), whose characters already appeared on the mother series.
Garofalo’s other big-screen credits include “Reality Bites,” “The Truth About Cats and Dogs” “Mystery Men” and “Ratatouille.”

She was great in West Wing. Looking forward to this, especially if Forest Whittaker is on board too.
-
...attractive. Not sure about everything else as she still rocks the frumpy. But damn she's smart, and funny, which already makes her attractive in my book.
-
I don't, and haven't, watched any of them. Ever. So I'll just assume that she's good in them.
-
I've run into her a few times and what she is is tiny. Tila Tequila could beat her up.
-
but not funny at all and pretty obnoxious.
-
I'll watch her in just about anything.
-
Even worse than Chloe.
-
Jesus...between this and the cast fucking over they're doing with the regular Criminal Minds cast, its like CBS is TRYING to get rid of one of their most popular, highest rated shows...oh yeah, just like they did with CSI!!!
-
Spin-off - innocent minds!
-
What? Carrot Top wasn't available?
-
When it crashes and burns (either before she gets on the show or after she leaves it). It'll be fun to see her play the blame game like she always does--pinning it everywhere but herself and talking about how the atmosphere is sexist and dysfunctional. Don't mistake me, she's brilliant, Ben Stiller's 92 Fox show is where she displayed herself as one of the greatest sketch comedians of the day, and I've seen her standup live and it was amazing. She has no shortage of telent and charisma. But she is, in the words of Lorne Michaels, an Injustice Collector, and she seldom has anything kind to say about anyone she works with. Just sayin'.
-
They are dumping her claiming financial problems. And the producers of this spinoff show will be paying the salaries of Janeane Garofalo and Forest Whitaker?
-
I'm guessing that's from the brief "Jeneane as a cute romantic lead" phase circa The ruth about cats and dogs
-
in 1997's "The MatchMaker". She plays a US Senator's assistant sent to Ireland to secure the Irish vote (I'm assuming Massachusetts or New York), and ends up in the sights of an old-fashioned matchmaker. http://tinyurl.com/yttpe2 <-- IMDB link I like her sarcastic wit, but sometimes I think she tries too hard in her movies to be the outcast.
-
Looks old and haggard to me.
-
Another fucking cop show. Great.
-
Just wish she'd keep her damn mouth shut sometimes. "Anyone who disagrees with me politically is a racist redneck and should be shot!!!"

I thought the "Criminal Minds 2" backdoor pilot episode sucked.
by F-18
Janeane Garofolo doesn't make me want to watch the show.
-
I would be happy to see the rest of the cast dumped, except for Whitaker and Garofalo. The two of them together would make a good team, who needs all these stupid subject 'experts'? It's corny as hell. These two could be the Nulder and Scully of serial murderers. At the very least they need new writers.
-
I love Janeane Garofalo, very funny and smart, but she rarely succeeds in this sort of project that somehow Hollywood keeps trapping her in, so I hope it works in her favor but I'm not expecting it. Also, Criminal Minds (original) already has a couple characters who sorta are playing off her vibe already. I'm not sure my world is ready for a TV schedule that has Janeane Garofalo AND Paget "Birdgirl" Brewster as FBI agents.
-
Great show, not sure about this casting though and yeah the back-door pilot was unconvincing. As for the dumping of AJ Cook and the scaling back of Paget Brewsters episodes... I find it strange that they can afford to hire a JJ replacement...
-
Jump the shark before it starts or something. Saw her live at the Edinburgh Festival - she was cr@p. Forgot her act and froze in the middle of it. You would think it was her first gig. Vaugely amusing otherwise

Well the show ha dme interested with Whitaker...
by HollywoodHellraiser
and now I could give a rats ass!
CBS=FAIL

She was great in that along with a young Owen Wilson. Excellent film and sadly undiscovered by many.

will be the Bush Administration.

Awwww, C'mon! She was great in Clay Pigeons...
by The_Floating_Skull_of_Robert_Loggia
And if they make her as cocky and abrasive in this, she'll be a welcome foil for Whitaker's breathless, ultra-serious profiler. So does this mean that the chick in the backdoor pilot is getting dropped? Also, no mention of Michael Kelly??? He was one of the actors I was most excited about for this spin-off. Oh, and I'd eat a mile of Paget Brewster's shit just to get a peek at where it came from.

by mjgtexas
Dude has bail and lawyers to play.
-
...wash her friggin' hair for once? I mean, I don't mind the frumpy hipster look, I don't mind her getting full sleeve tatts when she's in her 40's, just that mass of greasy locks... c'mon Janeane, it's nasty. Go buy some friggin' Prell!
-
I used to be a big fan of hers, but she's annoying as hell with her politics.
-
I like her don't get me wrong. But they are ruining the original CM by castrating AJ off the show and reducing the hot Paget Brewsters role. Paget will end up leaving instead of doing a part time gig there. She has some bod on her that girl.
-
Don't ask a question to which you already know the answer: "Bush did it."
They are welcome to cast JG. I have no interest in either the original CM or a spinoff. So, I pitched the idea to the resident CM fan and she just rolled her eyes at potential JG casting.
Plenty of talented actresses without the condescension you hear from JG in any promotional interview. Too much baggage.
-
She is the personification of humorless lesbian drudgery, and filled with bitterness and bile. Ugh. She went to the same high school my wife did, down here in good old Katy Texas, and nobody even remembers her here, because she hated everyone and everything about it, and made herself into as small a thing as she could be. And down here there is no shortage of happy smiling blue-eyed pretty girls and studly jock guys, as well as the whole host of FCA people,m which means that these people are generally *NICE*, and I'm sure she created this whole world for herself where she was misunderstood and outcast, when really she was just a miserable little troll doll. Yet another talentless hack who continues to get work because she is politically tight with the powers that be and guilts the lefto crowd into casting her. Won't make a dime, won't last 6 episodes.
-
Speaks highly of you though!
-
in High School she was exactly like her character in Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion was in High School?

How does the meanest, craziest woman in hollywood get this role?
by SmokingRobot
Seriously. WTF do you have to do in hollywood to not get a role? Eat babies? Vote for a Republican?
-
Yeah pretty much
-
I won't watch the original either.
-
Renee O'Connor will always be the queen of Katy.
-
It's Bush's fault!
-
Was it around the time of Mystery Men? Too bad Smith didn't cast her as the lead in Dogma.
-
Really, people still use this term?
-
"And down here there is no shortage of happy smiling blue-eyed pretty girls and studly jock guys"
That sounds hellish.
-
And an Al Gore sex crazed poodle one too! For some reason I'm thinking of those really bad made for VH1 movies they used to make before Flavor of Love.
-
I wouldn't say hellish, but Katy was the equivalent of Dillon Texas during the early 80's before the community turned into a massive white flight magnet of frightened Houston yuppies. To her credit, I never heard her disparage the community other than the girls had "big hair."
-

-
...since I've seen her a couple times wearing large heels, and even a slightly platformed boot one time, I believe (of the ass kicking sort, not the club kind). But I almost ALWAYS see her wearing baggy clothes. Multiple layers of them at that. That's where I was going with the frump. I still think she's fine, though.
-
and all, but she's really short. Like Willow short. If she's going to be an FBI agent chasing down perps she'd better have a boomerang or something.
-
And checked out a few pages of the results. She does look super tiny, and her body doesn't look that bad. But she is still wearing baggy clothes in a majority of the pics I found. Maybe they just don't make adult clothes small enough for her... which is kinda cute. Heh.
-
I don't care about Criminal Minds, but I loved her in The Truth about cats and dogs and one of my favorites romantic comedies ever: The Matchmaker. I love that movie, it's so damn funny.
-
They are really calling it that?
-
set in an alternate universe where Uma Thurman is more attractive the Janeane Garofalo.
-
Well,if what we see in the movies were like real life, then yeah it probably would be. You know, the movies where all the 'pretty' people are really ugly inside, and the ugly-duckling misunderstood social outcasts are the true golden-hearted ones are the main characters, the protagonists, the ones upon whom our sympathies are supposed to rest. However, real life just isn't liek that. In real life, you have all types of people in all types of roles, and sure there are some dicks, but generally speaking, these are good solid people, the kids are respectful and nice, and friendly, etc. But a nasty little troll who is determined to live the 'movie-world' life she thinks she wants to live, well, she is going to see what she expects to see, and nothing else. Just like how she sees the world, or at least her own country. It's self-loathing taken to the typical extreme these days by certain people.
-
Screw the bloody spin off, just give us the parent show with no bullshit. Ditch Rossi if you need to cut corners. He's clearly disturbed.
-
If she's so damn, smart she should have been writing/producing by now. Instead she gets shitcanned from the Lame-O Radio Network for pimping Scientology. Jesus.
-
But I grew up in a smallish town that treated the jocks like royalty and the popular people all seemed like they were characters written into a John Hughes movie. I couldn't get outta there fast enough.
-
...than the pretty blue-eyed girls and studly jocks. At least those of us professing our love for her do. High school would have been SO much better for me if I'd known someone like her I could have shared the shadows with.
-
Parker is one sexy tom...well you know.
-
She had some funky eyebrows during her stint on The West Wing. Please tell me she's plucked them since then. Other than that, she's very attractive.
-
Who cares about eyebrows?
-
... if she were the first victim in the first episode. She's gotten downright nasty looking as the years have gone by (not to mention the lunatic politics).
-
I probably lean in her direction politically, at least socially, but that's irrelevant. She just comes across as an unhappy person who radiates misery. Kinda like Daria (which she once hosted) but without the irony. The last thing she did I really LIKED was "Mystery Men". Indeed, that's the last high profile thing I even noticed her in. In a perfect world, the Stiller show would never have been canceled and we'd be working on almost 20 years now of the best sketch comedy show ever. Sadly, this was not to be....
-
I can see on the soapbox preaching against guns.
-
She said in an interview back in the 1990's her family moved the summer before her senior year in high school. It really messed her up emotionally, and she has never really recovered. It would explain all her political rantings saying, in so many words, "THe South Sucks!" You try going from living in the NYC metro area, where your family has lived for over 3 generations, to Katy Tx circa 1982. From a community that is 75% Catholic and Jewish to one that is 95% Baptist, Pentecostal, and Assemblies of God. That's culture shock.
As for the show, hope she's getting paid very well.-----later-----m
-
...smart and witty , yet totally unhinged and irrational. I can't look away.
-
You Texasses "jes' hate them thar sp**s and ni****s", huh? Teabagging, corporate-loving, inbred, pigfu**ing morons.
-
... but she still makes more money than you! Just can't handle that, huh? Now get back to stocking those rollback items!
-
Forest Whittaker's character was very unoriginal. 'a renegade cop who is willing to risk everything to do what it takes to catch the bad guy.... blah, blah, blah. ... " An actor like Whittaker deserves better. The show has a chance if they hire grown ups for writers.
-
If that story is true, she's fucking pathetic. She can't overcome a bad senior year of high school? Some teenagers have to overcome more than "culture shock" -- like cancer or losing a parent. Or even growing up poor and never having one of your parents. But she's STILL upset that she didn't fit in in Texas for a year when she was 17? Isn't she in her mid 40's by now?
-
Do we really need multiple versions of every single show now? This really needs to stop. We have three CSI's, two NCIS's, and now two Criminal Minds? It'll look great opposite Law & Order: Los Angeles. Is AMC prepping Breaking Bad: Boston or Mad Men: Special Scotch Unit for next summer?
-
Garofalo started drinking that koolaid, seriously?? Please tell me that's not true, I've loved this chick for years and years, if she's actually jumped on the Scientology bandwagon that like shakes the foundation of my entire existence, that can't possibly be right.
-
She used to be funny. Then she just got bitter and harpy-ish. Just started watching reruns of "Criminal Minds" and kinda got into it. Adding this bitch to the cast will just assure that I won't be watching it anymore. It's one thing for her to pop up on "24," which I've invested years in. "Criminal Minds" is completely on the border right now and it will just take a tiny nudge to stop me from watching.
-
As a former resident of Houston, Katy, and Sugar Land, let me assure everyone that having that cunt's name associated with Katy is just, if not more, traumatizing for us. Like finding out Slobodan Milocevic is a hometown boy. Or Hitler vacation in your favorite spot.
-
To Baptists, Pentecostals, and Assemblies of God, please fucking shoot yourself in the fucking head you goddamned ignorant sack of shit. Katy, Texas (hometown of Renee Zellweger) is pretty much the epitome of suburbia with a fairly good demographic mix in the Greater Katy area (as opposed to "Old Katy"). The Katy area itself contains over 250,000. Today, according to Wikipedia, "[t]he city contains a sizable Muslim population, one of the largest in the Houston area." Also, according to Wiki, Roman Catholic is the largest religion in Texas. Followed by Baptist, No Religion, Christian - others, then Lutheran. Pentecostals make up 3% of the population, Assemblies of God 1%.
So, in conclusion, Mgthedj, you and that whiny bitch Garofalo could kindly do us all a favor by power chugging sleeping pills then practicing auto-erotic asphyxiation until you fall asleep.
-
DUDE! I edited one of the Cum On My Tattoo flicks. Glad to know people are watching 'em.
-
It was the JayLenoTookMyJob guy, not Mgthedj. Anyway, yeah, people love to hate that which they don't understand. They are barely even worth pity.
-
Why do several of you refer to her as being "smart" and "witty". Where is your empirical evidence? From my viewpoint, she's a bitter, angry, frumpy lesbo.
-
...I won't argue with your other adjectives though.
