ScoreKeeper Reveals the Five Lucky Winners of the STAR TREK III: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK Soundtrack CDs!

Published at:  Jun 21, 2010 8:43:06 PM CDT

Greetings! ScoreKeeper here to announce the five winners of the mega-awesome release of James Horner's score for STAR TREK III: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK (1984) courtesy of the good folks over at Film Score Monthly and Screen Archives Entertainment.

This was an extremely popular giveaway! It narrowly beat out THE DARK KNIGHT and set a new record for the most entries I've ever received for a soundtrack giveaway. For the five winners that won, you better not buy any lottery tickets for awhile. Your luck has been used up for awhile.

And the five winners are...

Chris Harmony of Los Angeles, California

Jay Bellemare of Manchester, New Hampshire

Christina Lafuente Martinez of Zaragoza, Spain

Aaron Z. Woodul of Austin, Texas

Chris Wood of Reno, Nevada

Congratulations winners! Your CDs will be shipping out by the end of the week.

For more information including audio samples and order placement please visit Screen Archives Entertainment.

I think you spelled my name wrong. And accidentally listed the wrong city and state. But I'm sure you will clear that up before you ship my prize.

    sequel to Wrath of Khan.

    by krylite

try watching the movie. It's better than 90% of the sci/fi flops in the past 2 years. Without spoiling it, it was almost the end of the adventures of the original crew. They had to pretty much sacrifice everything to "search for Spock".

    hot chicks? well

    by krylite

not that much. There's one in the beginning. She gets wasted faster than a James Bond chick. Then at near the end, there's a bunch of "ceremonial vulcan girls" walking. Not that bad a scene too. Good to watch overall if you're bored and want to relax.

    by photoboy

I didn't bother to enter I just bought the score off the Screen Archives site. I bought ST2 and Robocop as well.

I also bought the extended Fugitive score, as the original release didn't have that awesome montage music from the middle of the film.

The quality of the sound of these discs is unreal. Blasting "Stealing the Enterprise" in it's full, original glory on the way to work this morning was the right way to start off the day!!!

    Good job, winners!

    by asimovlives

You guys got yourself a very good soundtrack. Composed back in the day when James Horner bothered to actually compose, instead of the souless copy and paste jobs he does today.

Don't despair, there's always The Voyage Home. Though personally i doesn't like that score much. How it got nominated for best score back in the day is something i'll never know.

Saavik was not too bad. Sure, she isn't Kristie Allen in her prime, but she was a pretty girl.

    Agreed, "Hey Scorekeeper"

    by monorail77

I also would like to know some folks' picks for best ST musical moment. I had fun thinking up mine. Here's what I sent in:

My favourite Star Trek musical moment? There are so many. Which to choose?
Is it the sudden rising horn blast as the first image appears in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie? Is it the orchestral flourish just as the words "Star Trek" join on the screen during the opening credits of Wrath of Khan? Is it the haunting Ilia's Theme from Star Trek: The Motion Picture? All these are very memorable indeed.

Since I have to choose a favourite, I will go with this: the fight music from Amok Time. The bongos, the horn blasts; the bongos repeated and the horn blasts again, slightly different. Who can hear this and not automatically crouch into the Kirk fighting stance, Karate-Chop hands at the ready? No one, that's who.
