UPDATE!! Here's A Look At A Robot Man Thing From TRANSFORMERS 3!!
Merrick again, again... Well, we've managed to confirm though highly knowledgeable sources that the pic below is not from TRANSFORMERS 3. This said, we've been unable to confirm that it is from REAL STEEL - so who knows what the hell we're looking at. If we figure it out, we'll let you know.

Note that...officially...TRANSFORMERS 3 doesn't ramp up in Chicago until early next month. Although, it's possible stand-in bots for the film might already be on-site? It's also feasible that the picture's announced schedule has changed in some way- or that we're being deliberately misdirected re: location. Looking into this, as well as possible REAL STEEL connection. More as we know more.

Long shot but what if Bay seeing as this could be the last in the series decided to use the retro bodies, maybe the humans try building their own bots but without the all spark or whatever they are just lifeless shells. Yes, it went downhill fast after the helmet came off (especially the flying bike chase scene, which was so shit Lucas stole it and used it in ATTACK OF THE CLONES) but the Block Wars bit at the beginning was pure class. THAT was the real deal. Unfortunately, some twat decided to give Dredd the ability to emote, and then added Rob Schneider for good measure.<P> But that first twenty minutes... Awesome. "I AM THE LAW! Drop your weapons! These blocks have been pacified!!". Say what you like (and FUCK that stupid catchphrase "I knew you were gonna say that") about the rest of the movie, but with the helmet on, Stallone nailed the DREDD character...

...do they actually build practical stand-ins for the robots in Transformers? I don't own either DVD (and never will), so I've watched no special features. The robots are clearly CGI, and a lot of them are freakin' huge, so I just figured the "actors" were emoting to an instructed eye-line. Or maybe to a dangling tennis ball. Or a guy in a green suit dangling upside down from a crane. Whatever. I was not under the impression that there were any "real" robots being built for these productions.

Answer: no they don't. The transfoemrs only exist inside a computer drive. that much is obvious, i mean, you think the fucking design of the villains robots could be achieved with models? People would get killed trying to build them, due to the stupid spikes design.
