Hey folks, Ambush Bug here. We’re going to start a new/old feature here on the Spinner Rack. In the past, I’ve had some difficulty keeping up with some of the scads of emails directing me to check out some of the online comics out there. So to remedy that, I thought it’d be a good thing to feature a Dot.comic o’ the Week every week as we’re spinning the old Spinner Rack. So while you’re at work, at home, or wherever, if you’ve got a few extra minutes to kill, follow the link to catch up on some of the best online comics on the interweb.

Legendary Comic Artist Al Williamson Has Passed Away

I just read that Al Williamson, known for his work on numerous EC title, Flash Gordon and Star Wars, to name but a few, has passed away at the age of 79. Sad news indeed. Luckily the talent lives on through the artwork.

Don't you feel just a little ashamed to keep hyping a book that trades off the name of a dead actor without paying a nickel of royalties. Twenty years from now how would you feel if there was a book out there called Harry Knowles presents with all kinds of shit in it you never approved of.

Do you know some inside info about the lagalities of Vincent Price Presents that I don't or once again are you just talking out of your ass? As far as I know, Bluewater has contact with the Vincent Price estate and the comics I have read from them (and have written from them) honor the late great Mr. Price. I know my two contributions to the book (THE TINGLERS and WITCHFINDER GENERAL) were done with a genuine respect for the actor's fine performances. And many of the original concepts in the comic are pretty fun takes on the old EC horror type stories. Have you even picked one of the books up or are you just being an internet cliche and judging a book without even looking past the cover?

...that I forgot I was waiting for it! Not like that's anything new with this book. But still, 'bout damn time! <P>Since I own pretty everything Shannon Wheeler has sold in his entire career, I'll be happy to give him some more cash for "I Thought You'd Be Funnier". But really... I just want more Too Much Coffee Man, man.<P>EAI isn't my favorite Aspen book, but it's cool that they're getting ANY books out on ANY kind of a schedule that resembles regular (even if it's just one book a every month or so). I hope they can keep all their titles moving forward for a couple years. I doubt it will happen, but it would make the fans of their titles far more willing to pay for their books when they hit the shelves.

So, you don't actually KNOW that Bluewater has an arrangement with Price's Estate? OK, so I may be blowing internet smoke from my ass but I'm not the guy running the website. I would think that if there was some agreement with price's estate you'd find some evidence posted in the comic. It also seems to me you can write the best stories in the world and still be trading off Price's name unfairly. I know that Price sold Picasso's through Sears but at least he was getting paid.

Bootskin, it seems Cookylamoo believes that a message addressed to Ambushbug on a public forum where others could see it is still a private message. I can respect his unique culture and I assume he will respect that this message is not meant for him and so he therefore has no right to respond to it in any way, shape, or form. Anyway, Cookylamoo seems to think that since there is no evidence provided that there is a contract between Bluewater and the estate of Vincent Price, that he can safely assume there is no contract. I understand this position. There was no evidence presented to show that Cookylamoo is not a _____. Due to the lack of evidence I am going to assume he is a _____. The Bluewater website states that they are working with the estate. That makes sense, since if they don't clear all the related intellectual property rights, they get sued. So whether Bluewater handled the legalities or not, the estate can take care of itself through the courts. The great cycle of law continues.... And yes, I am an attorney.

You never ASKED Bug to confirm this, so his being a "reporter" as you call it (that was cute by the way) has nothing to do with your post. And I will post whatever the fuck I want on a public forum, as long as the owners of said forum have no issue with what I say. Until then, kindly keep your vagina shut. The difference between those two previews is the difference between chicken salad and chicken shit. I saw a few copies of the Snow White shit gathering dust at a book store and took a look. *shudder* So tell me, how many people are going to look at that Spamela character and think it's Miss Piggy? And how many people are going to wonder why, since they look virtually alike, why Spamela is considered beautiful and Piggy is ugly? And didn't Piggy own the beautiful pig schtick anyway? Before Jim Henson died and the Muppets turned to crap? Anyway, on to a more pleasant subject. Good to see Darkwing back - that was a funny show and he's an excellent character worthy of a comeback, even if it's just in comic form. I like the art a lot and the dialogue is crisp and funny. Great character comedy. I don't buy many comics, but I'll look for that one.

So just out of curiosity, does anyone know why this character can retain his moniker in the Image-published SAVAGE DRAGON, but his name needed to be changed to the "Death-Defying Devil" for Alex Ross' horrible PROJECT SUPERPOWERS series for Dynamite?
