‘I’m In No Mood For Lesbian Weirdness Tonight, Pam!!’ Herc’s Seen Sunday’s Return Of HBO’s TRUE BLOOD!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
Notes on tonight’s premiere, borrowing heavily from Evil Mirror Herc:
* 3.1 gets off to a great start with a girl cursing in French: "For the love of God! Fucking vampires! It's always nothing but shit!"
* The one-hour premiere is teeming with incident, enough for two hours, or maybe three. I found the Vampire Queen plot the premiere’s most compelling. Least compelling? Tara’s acting out over her dearly departed Eggs.
* While season two pushed its characters west into Texas, season three sees them drifting in a more easterly direction.
* We learn what happened to lead vampire Bill Compton in the teaser.
* Graphic vampire nudity and fornication by minute 13.
* Big "What the fuck?" moment involving shapeshifter Sam at minute 21.
* The ubiquitous Zeljko Ivanek (Heroes, Damages, Big Love) returns as the Majister 31 minutes in.
* Hot recent NYU grads Missy and Jen stop by Merlotte's on their way to California.
* Who is the modern-day Van Helsing? We learn tonight what the Vampire Queen fears even more than the Magistrar.
* A decent line: "I am a freak of fucking nature!"
* The fangirls and gay fanboys will be excited to learn Eric and Jason get plenty naked in 3.1.
* The straighter fanboys will be excited to learn the NYU girls get naked too.
* How does it end, spoiler-boy? “I’ve fed!”
9 p.m. Sunday. HBO.

also, never seen this show.
-
CAN'T WAIT FOR IT. CANNOT FUCKING WAIT.
-
Excited for the new season. With Lost and 24 gone I need to cling onto my favorites coming back
-
Shit, now I have to read about this overrated show again.
-
Way more entertaining, too.
-
A great show is back. I'd love to see Sons of Anarchy and Californication too
-
I just love this show even though it's all sorts of goofy/cheesy.
-
I just hope them "going public" is not gonna take as long as in the books. Knowing there are vampires is one thing, but knowing someone you knew your whole life is a were is really fucked up. The public knowing about the supernatural was always the best part of the series.
-
Not the only reason for watching this show but a great reason nonetheless.
-
she was the vampire queen right? she's back? awesome
-
Thouroughly enjoyed the first two seasons. Anyone catch the SGU finale? Fuck me!
-
The WORST part of season 2!
-
Evan Rachel Wood naked would make it even better. Evan better? Sheesh.
-
nice to have the show back especialy with my beloved bb season finale tonight.i just hope they return more the core/heart of the show like season 1.i liked season 2 but the marry ann bullshit got out of hand especialy the one episode with terry screaming out commands and jason pretending to be the god.wtf were snorting, smoking, popping, during that embarassment.and for the love of god alan give us a naked jessica.hottest red head next to karen elson.
-
It has the right mix of Goth and Tennessee Williams White Trash. Oh, and tits, lots of tits. Hope Eric doesnt show his dink, I mean I like the guy but.......not that much.
-
What a fucking joke. Its an enjoyable shawl but it's terribly written. It's a fucking campy soap opera with vampires. I watch it, but at least I have the sense to know it's not the best show on tv, because every fucking dick head on the planet who watches True Blood, and usually nothing else, thunks it's the best show ever put on tv. It's infuriating. Watch something else before making preposterous hyperbole.
-
Is he realated to that great actor and fish food from Deep Blue sea Stellen?
-
True Blood is not the best written show on TV. For my money that is Justified. TB is a cool show, with Anna P's great rack on full display. I do wish we could start seeing some more action with the show...Give me a Vamp Vs Human, Werewolf, something war. I think this show needs more "Near Dark" and less "Desperate Housewives"
-
but they just won't let me watch.
-
I just wandered in by mistake looking for the pretty Little Liars talkback. I parted ways with HBO over the Dunsten situation years ago. So, the canceled Arli$$?
-
It's basically a gothic southern Dark Shadows with just the right amount of camp. I think Alan Ball really starting embracing that concept as the series moved forward. All in all, I still have a lot of fun watching it.
-
Did her acting improve at all as the Vampire Queen?
I'm usually not a stickler for acting at all, but she was truly awful in Season 2. -
Yes, he´s one of Stellan Skarsgårds six children.

Season one was headed in some interesting directions, especially
by homerofthesea
I get that the show has always had a melodramatic streak, but in the first season it was fun and entertaining. Season two, not so much. The sun-church storyline went on for too long and they didn’t know what to do with Jason. You could blame it on the books, but I’m pointing to Alan Ball. It seems like he doesn’t trust in his ability to keep a functional relationship interesting for more than one episode, and so he has to throw in ridiculous contrivances (Sookie disobeys Bill’s orders!) to generate a conflict (see: the entire Nate/Brenda relationship on “Six Feet Under”). Season three wish-list: that they either make some honest drama, or that they keep the melodrama entertaining. That the story adds something to the characters, instead of taking away (like, you know – my interest in the characters). Finally, I hope that they don’t make too much of the inevitable Sookie/Eric pairing, especially as it relates to Bill. I like the character Bill and I like the actor, but when they put him together with Paquin they waste his potential. He’s one of the few dignified characters on the show, but he doesn’t get to be that when he’s with Sookie. Here's hoping!
-
I was surprised at how hot her bod is..in the preview she is standing in front of the bed in next to nothing and she looks frackin great. Almost ripped heh. Still the redhead on this show rules. And Evan Woods was fine as the queen, the character calls for some over the top acting. I seen an interview with Ball and that was by design for whatever reason.
-
Now that's good casting
-
That quote sounds like it should be from an episode of Archer.
-
Proving to the Twilight crowd that you can make good vampire stories without making them all faggy. No, the writing isn't Shakespeare, but it's a Southern Gothic, it's not supposed to be. to the VikiMarsdale chick, if you don't like the show or HBO in general, why the fuck did you feel the need to come on this TB and comment? Makes you look like an ass, especially when you bitch that there's no TB for some ABC family tween show. Waaaay wrong demographic for this website.
-
Just finished revisiting Season 2 on blu ray last week, and, although I enjoyed it, I'm extremely glad going in to tonight's premiere that MaryAnn and Eggs are gone. The storyline wasn't as bad on blu ray just because you didn't have to sit through it for weeks on end, but the monkey orgies got redundant after awhile, and that's saying something when orgies attain redundancy. And I second, third, fourth, and fifth the motion for Jessica to show some nip nips. Absolutely stunning example of what a redhead can be when she's not inundated with freckles that make her look like one of those characters on Alien Nation. Deborah Ann Woll is absolutely stunning!
-
I'm actually looking more forward to Treme than Trueblood. And agreed in regard to Deborah Ann Woll, stunning to say the least.
-
made me hope for an awesome new The Office webisode.
-
The MaryAnn story took WAY too long to unfold last season. They just kept doing the same stuff week after week with her and it really hurt last year's pace. Hopefully with that story finish season 3 doesn't have a similar problem.
-
Really glad it's back.
-
While I don't agree that the MaryAnn story took to long, it was the season long story after all, I find it curious that we spent the entire season on that story only to have it end 10 minutes into the finale. All this build up and then BAM the characters and situations moved on like the season never even happened.

I CHALLENGE THE AICN WRITERS TO TALKBACK MORE OFTEN

-
Jason and Andy have a guilty secret that will probably be revealed this season.
-
we already know their secret from last season's finale - Jason shot and killed Eggs and Andy told him to run off and took the heat himself, but at least we'll hear about Eggs (and MaryAnn) in the past tense
-
Extremely stupid sow, but also glad it's back. This is the definition of mindless entertainment for me. Entertaining, nothing more. I love me some Alan Ball but...Six Feet Under this show is not.
-
than a Grimm fairy tale - 35 minutes ago, I'm looking at you
-
She would be even hotter without jacked up teeth.

then I don't wanna be straight! Just sayin'.

Yeah , we the viewers know their secret but Tara doesn't.

GAME OF THRONES MINI TEASER 15min B4 TRUEBLOOD 2NITE!
by stereotypical evil archer
-
I don't understand how critics love it. The acting is terrible and the story never makes any sense. It's truly terrible. Really Really bad TV.
-
Better than Lost. True Blood is not a good show at all. HBO has been lacking for years. All they've done in the past few years that's new and good was Taking Chance. Curb Your Enthusiasm has been good too, but we only get a new season every 2 years it seems, and a "season" is 10 episodes...never understood that.
-
*Better than Lost?
-
Thanks for the heads up!
-
How do you know all that if you never watch it as you obviously don't like it?

Red Ned Lynch, I hope we get more than a few seconds.
by stereotypical evil archer
I would love a 90 second trailer.
-
At least that's what she was quoted as saying.
-
Are you fucking insane? Okay, I get it, you like vampires and titties--but best written? Have you even heard of a little show called "Breaking Bad"?
-
is it a four episodes "season" and then slap them on DVD for 100 bucks?
-
Oh, and the DVDs are about $40 at Target. Obviously, your local TrollMart must be really gouging you.
-
Although, depending on the scene and how Jessica is shot, she can look a bit minxy herself. This show is the best summer series ever.
-
Hell yes! and True Blood's cool too.
-
theyre in the premiere tonight
maybe eric or someone will finally
rip thier throats out -
maybe they kidnapped bill, huh?
-
Hmmmm, shes pretty hot
-
...yeah. I was excited for the return of True Blood. Now I'm even more excited for a glimpse at a few seconds of a show that won't be on for months.
-
Were just 'gay, gay, drugs, sex, sex, gay, drugs, sex, gay, gay, gay, sex, sex, drugs'. It got old. I swore off Alan Ball after that. Is this show just more of the same with vampires the usual thinly disguised metaphor for gays? That is so tired.
-
And it got old. All those people did was take drugs, have sex, screw up their lives and die. Too bad, the first three seasons of that show were brilliant.
-
And it reminded me too much of the Roseanne show. White trash + PC worldview = zzzzzz. I wonder if the books are any better, they look like they might be.
-
Winter is coming. Hopefully the preview is more than just a logo and a quick cut of someone riding a horse.
-
If we get a glipmpse of a direwolf i´ll be a happy nerd! EITHER THAT or a glimpse oF Cersei´s TITAAAAYS!!
Seriously i´m pumped for this. True Bloods cool, but GoT is the real deal.

-
is Game of Thrones? Seriously, I have no idea what it is.
-
Its the first volume of a series of novels by George R.R. Martin with a medieval fantasy setting. Its like Lord of the Rings, but with less hobbits and elves and more incest and dropping children off of balconies. And now its one of HBO´s most antecipated series.
-
just saw the GoT preview. It sure is a teaser trailer. They didnt show a lot of footage, but at least we hear Sean Bean saying «Winter is coming»
-
Methinks not.
-
Gaps are hot on girls!

are you kidding? how could you be bored by true blood? next to break
ing bad its the best show on television. awesome doesnt even begin to describe it. -
dont be a douche if you dont like this show the problem is with you not the show

Game of Thrones... man that was a short teaser.

"Hoyt, if we're gonna be roommates, you're gonna have to absorb some pussy overflow!" God, I love this show.
-
dislikes. Of course this is a great show. Yes at times it can be a little gay, but it is a great campy show. Not to mention nine out of ten of the hottest chicks on tv.
It's a hell of a lot better than the other vampire films that are popular w/ the kids. And Eric Northman should have been Thor. How Kenny B. picked that other dude I'll never understand.
Some of you guys should stop being snobs and enjoy it for what it is. A campy show that shows a ton of sexy pussy every week. -
Sookie's character has devolved into a petulant foot-stamping weenie, Jason is still eating up screen time because Ball has a boner for the actor, Tara is even more screechy than last year, and Bill still bores me to death. The small doses of Eric, Pam, Lafayette and [surprisingly] the Queen of Louisiana did nothing to mitigate the total mess this series has become. Ball has left Charlaine Harris's narrative in the dust for a mish-mash of soap opera crap. Oh well.
-
where she can just look up some random mark? from where exactly? They cut right from..."oh golly whatever could it be?" "Nevermind...I found it on my trusty phone!" right.
-
It wouldn't be that hard...she probably just googled something like "weird tattoo symbols" or had an App for symbols. They probably exist in that universe to be honest.
-
Look it up.
-
I thought Hoyt's "Nice meeting y'all" towards the end of the episode was pretty funny.
Also really nice to see Bill going all bad-ass on his escape; including feeding off some nice old lady. Nice beginning to the season. -

Glad things are headed in my home state of MS!! Great first epi
by david_boreanez_cunt_hairz
that Sam/Bill scene was fuckin weird though!!
-
Hate to break it to you, but the books kinda suck. "Soap opera narrative" suits them just fine...
-
Game of Thrones looks promising. Not sure about Steve Buscemi as a crime lord, though. I loved the little bits with Jessica trying to figure out what to do with the body. Jason had some great lines, but yeah, it seemed like Sookie really wasn't given much to do except to complain on deaf ears that Bill was gone. Sam's Fangback Mountain dream threw me off for a sec, though. And I like Tara as a character, but if they drag out this craziness too long that may change. Decent start to the season, and I thought it was funny they had to put that little bit after the credits explaining why their werewolves look like...well...plain wolves, as if they knew people would question the decision.
-
There's nothing else on TV like it (that I know of). The idiot who said the acting and writing is bad is simply trying to piss people off (aka troll).
-
Anyone here read Dracula by Bram Stoker???
-
Just perfect. I had forgotten how much I missed this show. Loved seeing a lot of Pam in this episode, hopefully a trend of things to come. The Queen played out much better this time around. The humor of the show is so spot on, if you get it, wonderful stuff. The show is Dracula meets John Waters.
-
Would the writers really have the balls to kill off John Goodmans character (probably the most liked character on the show) midway through the first season? Me thinks (or I should say hopes) not.
-
That said, awesome episode and awesome show! Trueblood was good ol stupid fun as well. Love that show!
-
she probably just used the internet. i dont think we needed to show her doing a search on google or whatever to find whatever site she was on. there are many websites dedicated to those sorta rune like symbols so i didnt think anything of it.
-
What would you say on television today, cable network etc, that is well acted and well written? Would love to hear some of your examples.
-
Dick on.
-
Wow I had no idea she had such a slammin body...when I saw it in the trailer for the new season I was like whoooooaaaaaaa.....might have to check the show out to see more of that bod....
-
Does it mean that everything works both literally and as a metaphor for the human condition? Does it mean it simply makes you laugh? Does it mean that it's able to affect the viewers, get them worried about the characters, and occasionally shock them? Or is it simply that it's entertaining enough that you look forward to more of it? I'm not sure any of those things *don't* apply to True Blood. Is it The Wire? No. Is it fun as hell and appointment viewing? Yup. To this date I've never seen more grown men get more fired up on Facebook after an episode than after Godric's first appearance.
-
The vampire-running blur effect they lifted from Smallville still kinda sucks. The first-person Bill-running view they did last night worked better, but if the blur effect isn't working they need to avoid using it.
-
This is officially my new mantra.
-
but every time I see that actress in anything all that comes to mind is MANHANDS! I still miss Seinfeld (and not that Marraige Ref shit - he needs to get back to either stand up or sitcom)
-
Please enlighten us on what you consider a well written show. Only then will your comment have any merit.
-
Damn, I think the red head is smokin' hot. They should have left the Sam/Bill gay moment a big WTF mystery instead of spelling out what caused it. One episode in and I'm sick of Tara. Don't necessarily want the pills to work, but maybe they can put her in a coma for a little while. Looks like they've reeled in the Queen's over the top acting. That scene where she pinned Eric against the wall in anger actually made me jump. Still havin' so much fun w/ this show.
-
i caught the 2nd airing at 11pm and there was no explanation so what is it...whats the reason? and they explained the gay moment? i must have totally missed that because i'm still wondering where it came from. lol
-
Haha that made me jump, too. They're just talking and suddenly there is this unholy screech/howl and he's instantly against the wall with her hand on his neck. Did they ever establish when she was turned exactly? Erik is at least 1k years old...they've been going with the "older = more powerful" bit, although the Magister sounds like he is roughly from the Inquisition era, which means he may be younger then Erik.
-
Remember last season where Erik was hit by the silver shrapnel and he asks Sookie to suck the metal out of the wound in his side to save his life, then Bill states that it was a trick just to get Sookie to drink some of his blood and he then explained that drinking a vampire's blood can cause them to have intense "feelings" for them and dreams, thus why Sookie started to have the odd Erik dreams. Because Sam drank Bill's blood to heal the sacrificial wound he sustained, he thus started to have dreams about Bill, which I'm sure deeply disturb him haha.
-
When he knows he's not gay, yet he is still compelled to be with Bill.
-
The explanation makes sense. Also, I feel like they are pandering a bit, which I am okay with. Hot.
-
As a whole, I don't think this show deserves an emmy for being well written but there are tons of great lines and solid writing that it deserves "kudos". This is by far the best "bad" show I've ever seen and the sexiness sure adds to the show :) !
-
We're not mid-way through the first season, next week is the finale. And he has only been listed a guest star all season, so what just happened is perfectly believable. Doesn't make it any easier to accept, though. What a great character/actor. He'll be missed.

and end up in a big lesbian orgy
-
My husband was very surprised and a little perturbed when the Bill/Sam scene happened last night. I called him this afternoon after someone else noted humans had erotic dreams after ingesting a lot of vampire blood as Sam did in the last episode of Season Two. Sookie had those dreams in Season One and Lafayette had those dreams in Season Two. Well, that was quite a laugh on us. And it helps explain how Bill meandered from Arkansas to Mississppi without realizing it, he was never in Arkansas. Bill asked for Sam's shirt, but didn't have it on when he crawled out of the ground. Bill politely fed on the elderly lady, then gave her money, glamouring her into thinking her son sent it. That seems a little more like the Bill I thought I knew. The laugh lines were a lot of fun. “I am sorry you fell in love with a serial killer, but really, who here hasn’t?” The French restaurant owner's string of profanity after finding out another vampire-rented evening has gone to sh*t. And of course the title for this review, "I'm in no mood for your lesbian wierdness, Pam!" LOL! And, whew!
-
realized that it was a dream caused by the sharing of blood as soon as the two (Bill and Sam) started flirting. Not a big shocker there.
-
Looked a lot like Jessica.
-
Of course Bill/Sam was a big shocker. I should have realized at the time Bill wasn't wearing the shirt he'd 'asked for' when he came out of the ground. The show strives to shock. It's done that since the first episode. I hope they keep the "Post Mortem" snippets at the end, it was a nice downshift in tension. Alan Ball talking about the wolves on location after dark and having them howl in the background.
-
Wait- who is the modern day Van Helsing in the movie?! I missed that?! Anyone?
-
Took me a while to figure out what Herc meant too.
-
Sorry, I didn't mean to insult your intelligence. To me, it was extremely obvious what was going on as soon as the two started flirting. But, I knew the sequence in Treme where the jail cell floods was obviously a dream as well, and no one I was watching it with figured it out until LeDonna awoke so maybe I think too much. Probably more fun to watch the show with your brain off, something I'll have to work on...
-
Funny to think I'm a modern day Agent of Van Helsing? Just call me Alucard.
-
I agree about Paquin, what a bod on her. Pretty shocking. I would hit that hardcore. Love this show..so much pussy overflow.
-
Didn't bother me as most vampire stories have some homoerotic undertones. Look at Brad and Tom's relationship in "Interview With A Vampire". But either way Sam ingested a whole lot of Bill's blood as a way to heal after being stabbed with that huge ass blade during the ceremony last season. If Sookie only ingested a little of Eric's blood when sucking out the silver and she was drawn to him, I can only imagine the complications Sam will have since he had a whole lot more of Bill's blood. His face when he woke up was priceless. I am late to the "True Blood" party and have only started watching the show 3 weeks ago. I zipped through the DVD's to prepare for Sunday and I am glad I did. It's a fun show. Also, when the fuck did Ana Paquin get such a banging body? The scene from the season preview made me do a double take. She just needs to fix her teeth. And finally, the fact that they are using REAL wolves made me appreciate the show even more.
-
Who here would bend Anna Paquin over a rail and lick her hot little wet asshole? I'd sniff and french kiss that little butthole until that wagonwheel coated my face with butt grease.
-
Are you by chance, a virgin??
-
The Wife and I howled with laughter. She's in love with Eric, I think I am too..
-
Those are domesticated/trained but crap they are strong mofo's. Its funny how they get them to growl, pull their food away. Just like dogs heh. They live to eat.
-
Just saying. She is.
-
I spent the rest of the show Sunday night worrying if I was going to be able to keep my husband interested in the show. I watched it again Monday, and still squirmed at that scene, LOL! Sookie may be the heart of the show, and Eric gets plenty of attention, OMG that body in that smoking jacket and black pants, but Vampire Bill's love for humanity shown with the elderly woman is my favorite kind of vamp. Because he could still turn around and showed his dangerous side with the wolves. I'm looking forward to meeting Alcide and more discussion as the show takes off. :)
-
but I gets the feeling she won't be showing all that much skin. It was shocking to see Sookie nude and even more shocking to see her bod was pretty damn tight. Love the show. Think Eric and Bill are the best parts of the show. Feeding on an old lady lol then glamoring her into thinking her son visited was pretty damn cool.
-
Best show..... next to Breaking Bad!!!
-
Its a lot of fun and very entertainingWriting and acting is fine, sometimes great, sometimes not so great.
-
Love it when the homophobes "squirm" and "worry" if they'll still be interested in the show...lol. Imagine if we felt that way with practically every other show we watch...

I'd say since at least 25th hour.she looks hot as fuck in that promo when she whips off that robe in her bra and panties.Best show..... next to Breaking Bad!!! totaly agree.
-
Tru-Blood, what a freaking great series. I was so pumped for this show when I attended last years True-Blood panel at SDCC with the whole cast!! They previewed season 3 there and while I am still making my way through season 2, I have read the books and am familiar with the plot, (which thank the gods Alan Ball is following with some liberty). What I *LOVE* about this show, besides the obvious male muscular nudity and thrusting bod-on-bod action, is that if you are a fan of the novels you can still enjoy the TV show in an entirely different way.
I hope Ball takes each novel and expands this show to a season 9, 10 & beyond. -
I squirmed at the straight sex, too, GPolice. *sigh* And since in a recent interview that Alexander Skarsgard has said the sex gets much more graphic as the season rolls on, I'm hoping the story will keep up with the grinding......
-
Snoop Dog has penned some love lyrics for Sookie Stackhouse.
"We'll do it in the daytime, Bill won't know a thing." Ha, ha HA! -
The thing is, you squirmed at the straight sex scenes, but there were NO actual gay sex scenes, so just the IDEA of there possibly being one is what made you squirm, so there is a difference...
