Magneto In X-MEN: FIRST CLASS May Be Played By...

Michael Fassbender (Archie Hicox in INGLORIOUS BASTERDS, Stelios in 300) may join the cast of X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, presuming he doesn’t jump onto another Marvel franchise launcher – Marc Webb’s SPIDER-MAN.

He’s being pursued, I hear, for two different Marvel comics movies. Matthew Vaughn is said to want him for “X Men: First Class.” Fassbender would play young Magneto, the precursor for Ian McKellen’s later character. [EDIT] At the same time, Fassbender is being pursued to play the villain in “Spider Man 4,”

..says ShowBiz 4112 HERE. James McAvoy (WANTED, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA, CHILDREN OF DUNE) has already been cast as Charles Xavier in the Matthew Vaughn directed FIRST CLASS. Bryan Singer and Lauren Shuler Donner are producing the picture, which is currently being positioned for a Summer 2011 release.
