GREEN LANTERN: THE SERIES Coming To Cartoon Network!!

I am – Hercules!!
The chairman of Turner Networks unveiled a slide to Time Warner investors that read “Green Lantern: The Animated Series.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter:
The TV series is expected to launch in the second year after the film release.
Martin Campbell’s “Green Lantern” movie isn’t expected in cinemas until June 17 of next year, so I reckon that means the series will arrive in 2013.

It's hard to get excited about anything new cartoon network does anymore. If its not an CN original or the Clone Wars, it tends to get shafted time slot wise.
-
It's about god damn time!!! The Green Lantern series is just too epic to get all the good stuff into the movies. This was made to be a TV series, the action will work even better in motion than in the comics. The Green Lantern Corps is more interesting than the Jedi, and more intense than any other superhero comic out there. Basically what I'm saying is oh my god I can't wait. I hope this puts the Justice League shows to shame. Sweet stuff. GENNDY! GENNDY! GENNDY! GENNDY! GENNDY! GENNDY! GENNDY! GENNDY! GENNDY!
-
Will kill before its time with revolving and bad time slots, and no repeats only to replace with the next "Misadventures of Flapjack"
-
why not premiere the series within months of the film's release in order to garner more public interest in the character? why wait until two years later, when either public interest in the property has died down? are they waiting to see if GL will be a hit and talks of a sequel begin stirring? and why make an announcement for an animated series this soon, three years before the show hits the airwaves? and will Paul Dini and Bruce Timm be involved in any way? questions, questions...
-
Otherwise zzz...
-
now x12 episodes.
-
I thought a cartoon series or SciFi channel show based on the Corp would be good T.V.
-
IGL: First Flight was pretty good, but, it being an animated movie, it did feel rushed. A TV show can iron that stuff out and really fill out GL's world.
-
Like Batman: The Animated Series good, not Comic Book Cartoons Aimed Exclusively at Little Kids Demographics. But that timeless sort of storytelling that kids can enjoy, but that ages well and has other levels they only begin to get once they're older.Or is that asking too much?-Cheers

i hate cartoons based off movies (after movie is released)
by yourstepdaddy
...unless both the show creators and movie creators are on the same page with characters and plots and villains and etc, cool... but I dont wanna see GL fght a bad guy on the show, then be reintroduced to the same bad guy in a future movie...
-
A sequel to JLU with the green lantern corps would be awesome.
-
Meanwhile, every other cable outlet in America does. Fuck you Comcast.
-
alls I can say is Please tell my Bruce Timm is the Producer
-
I was hoping they'd have a series on the way already, or a sequel.
-
=Awesome. Any others like these that i should watch? The recent batman has been unwatchable.
-
True fans and haters alike should wait until the "epilogue" is on youtube before making a purchase.
-
You heard it here first...
-
No animated series can touch or will ever touch the epic awesomeness that was gargoyles... that show got a seven year old me out of bed at five in the morning.
-
... feature leads with shaved heads wearing striped turtlenecks and high-waisted brown pants with suspenders? Yeah, nothing to do with GL, sorry...
-
... Uniform features high waisted pants held up by suspenders. Only thing he ever generates with his ring is a tiny, three-wheeled pickup truck that he uses to putter around post-apocalypse Paris in, looking for croissants.
-
... even though half the friggin' content isn't even in HD. I hate those fuckin' black sidebars!

Michael Richards impersonating Art Carney as G'Nort!

In the live-action film and the cartoon! Just a twisted thought.
-
Yeah. Where's the love for Booster?
-
They better.

Now they can make action figures to sell in conjunction with the

Without Guy, this is absolute crap!
-
Gargoyles is GREATNESS -- until the final season. The overhaul killed it.
-
The last season was clearly the best.
-
I can still watch most episodes some of the best written animated television ever.
-
Just leave out Superboy-Prime and ALL WILL BE WELL.
-
hopefully they'll have some crossovers from other dc characters (at least green arrow) and it will be as good as justice league and Batman: TAS.
-
A must.

John Stewart of Justice League Animated is the best GL ever
by kal reeve
He was awesome, fierce, and possessed an indomitable will. But his tender moments with Hawkgirl were excellent and believable.
Hal Jordan, for the most part, is quite bland. Stewart all the way! -
I've been writing episode capsules for a watch-through of Batman: TAS. It's mostly for myself, but I figure as long as I'm reflecting on the series, I'd put it out there for people to read. What the hell, right?

new Ironman cartoon.
-
Please.
-
Or have Bruce Timm, Dwayne McDuffie and company return to scribe the tales of the Green Lantern.
-
Was epic in its day. The last season kinda dulled it a bit, but everything else was easily one of the best story driven shows on at the time.
-
and that'll be something. I'd prefer a realistic Final Fantasy-style approach, but even a Clone Wars approach wouldn't be bad if they were targeting the kiddies. JLA/JLU style would be okay I guess, but that's kinda already been done and done.
-
Where everyone looked like a posable action figure.
-
The first year after the film's release runs from June 2011 to June 2012. The second year runs from June 2012 to June 2013 - this points to a more likely Fall 2012 release.
If they had said "two years after the release", then 2013 is more likely, but "in the second year" is odd wording - I would put money on Fall 2012. -
Love the franchise and would love a series about the Corps! Finally DC steps up to the plate and starts promoting their Characters outside of the Comics. If you want to have lifelong fans, then you have to catch them when their kids with an awesome animated series thats as serious as it gets for a cartoon. I am the biggest DC Nerd you can find and thats because I fell in love with the Batman animated series when I was 8 or so. Thats the way to do it DC. But why announce it now and do it 3 year later? bummer...
-
This could be really cool, doubt it will be, but still...
-
the episodes with the GLC in them are always the best, that may be another reason they're going for it. Like yall though, i really hope Dini, Timm, or Tartakovsky have something to do with it, even if it isnt connected to the DCAU
-
Looks completely unrelated to the movie. GL is portrayed more like Mr. Incredible. The scene I saw was very much played for humor with some witty banter between GL and a 'space princess' whilst being chased by an ugly alien.
-
The cancel wolverine and the X-men but where getting a shitty green lantern series.....i call bull shit
-
this isnt flamebait, i'm serious because i actually never read any GL comics and i hear from fans that it's da bomb so tell me so i can get into it!!!
-
For me it's pulpy space adventure mixed with a bit of a cop story. Others may think otherwise.
-
You know Marvel and DC are different enteties, right?
-
Can I post? I tried to post on this story a few days ago, but it wouldn't post. Let's see if this "test" works.
-
Alright. As some have already mentioned, I am all for this if Bruce Timm and Paul Dini are behind the series. Otherwise, I couldn't care less.
-
I hate American animation....And "Iron Shit 2" has put me off superheroes for life....
