There's a big part of me that really wants this reissue to do well. GREASE is the first soundtrack album I ever bought. Hell, it might be the first album I ever bought, period, way back in the days of vinyl (I'm old). There is a certain joy I get out of popping this movie in or catching it on cable. With it's playfully vulgar humor and actors who appear to be in their 30s playing high school students, GREASE doesn't take itself seriously at all. It's a romp, and I love it.
All of that being said, I noticed something in this trailer that needs to be corrected immediately. There appears to be an unforgivable typo (I'm sure it's a typo because there's no way anyone would dare censor this movie) in the lyrics for "Greased Lightning." If you love the song, you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm 1000 percent in favor of this movie getting another run in theater, but not if it means white-washing it to get a PG rating. People who were teens when this film first came out loved it because it was slightly deviant. Leave it alone, lovely folks at Paramount.
Despite this error that I'm sure will be corrected, please enjoy rediscovering GREASE and singing your heart out when the SING-A-LONG version hits theaters in early July.
