Even The LOONEY TUNES Can't Stem The Onslaught Of 3D!!

Merrick here...
Sounds like we're in for a fresh dose of LOONEY TUNES.
A new 26-episode half-hour series, “The Looney Tunes Show,” is headed toward Cartoon Network in the fall and will star Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck as odd-couple roommates in a contemporary cul-de-sac. Yosemite Sam, Tweety Bird, Sylvester, Marvin the Martian and Porky Pig are their neighbors. Meanwhile, Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote are going back to work in movie theaters in a series of 3-D shorts. The first of these shorts — Warner has approved three, and three more are in development — will play ahead of the movie “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore,” which arrives in theaters July 30.
..says Brooks Barnes at the NYT HERE. On one hand, this is tremendously exciting because...as far as I'm concerned...one can never get enough good LOONEY TUNES. And, it'll be great seeing animated shorts up their on the big screen before movies. Also, I imagine that the TV show they're doing will be a lot like a series one Talkbacker proposed in which all AICN personalities would be forced to live together under one roof. BUT, I find myself wondering what tone this new material will have? In this social/political climate, will the Looney Tunes be allowed to maintain thee snarky, physical edge which made them so funny to begin with? I'm expecting something diluted and softer here, deploying LT characters in a decidedly more sit-com environment. I really hope this isn't the case. But, realistically, how long will it be before PETA screams that dynamite and furry little animals don't mix? But they do mix! Uproariously so... You can find an assload (I suppose how much that would be really depends on the size of your ass) of the original LOONEY TUNES HERE.
