The creation of an episode of SNL has always interested me. More coverage of that please!
May 17, 2010, 12:12 p.m. CST
And I agree with JackSlater, Capone, you really did come off a bit creepy. But I'm sure someone as beautiful and talented as Kristen Wiig gets that a lot. She handled it nicely.
Funny woman for sure, and a great interview once again Capone.
May 17, 2010, 12:15 p.m. CST
Seems like he hasn't had a hit in forever. Beyond that, most of his recent movies are just not that good, let alone funny. The Jonah Hill/ Russel Brand movie looks stupid as hell. He needs to use some new actors and take a risk.
May 17, 2010, 12:19 p.m. CST
that when Capone got up and left, Ms. Wiig rolled her eyes.

Capone definitely spanked it right after that interview.

Her character's name in Semi-Pro was "Bear Handler" Some arsenal. This chic's funny is waaay over-rated. Will Forte is about as funny as rectal cancer. Watch...if this TURD of a movie even sniffs respectable numbers you can bet your fat asses the a "Falconer" movie is not far off. Fuck.

She hijacks every sketch on SNL with her one-note characters (think about it..they are all the same) the way Will Ferrell used to

May 17, 2010, 7:42 p.m. CST
Does anyone realize they're spoofing McGuyver from the mid-late 80's and does anyone care? Does anyone watch SNL anymore and find it the least bit funny? I never hear people talk about it. I tried watching it once few months ago out of shear boredom and it was taped skits, definatley NOT live and definately NOT funny. Anyway, as I was saying, if your gonna spoof something it's seems to me that whatever THAT may be, it better be somewhat relative to modern pop-culture or people may not get it. The first I heard of McGruber was during the Super Bowl this year and I had no idea why they were spoofing a TV show that's been off the air for 20 years. Later I found out it was an SNL character.
May 17, 2010, 7:48 p.m. CST
I used to think she was funny, until I realized this. She's pretty grating.
May 17, 2010, 8:02 p.m. CST
I'm not denying my inherent creep factor--I do heart Wiig for sure. But no one's actually given a specific statement that made me come across that way. I'm curious, and clearly asking for trouble

Capone, I could really see the genuine enjoyment, from you, coming across in the interplay between you and Kristen Wiig. If I had the chance to sit and talk with her, I would be labeled a lot worse than "kinda creepy."
That being said, it seemed like you kept going back to the topic of her sex scene with Forte and the noises she made. Since I haven't seen the film yet, I would assume it adds to the "jokey"ness of it. Plus, when someone says, "I don't mean to fixate..." on something, it's just a nice way of saying, "This might make you feel uncomfortable, but I REALLY want to know more." That's what got me from the start.
Again, another good read from you Capone. You're one of the better writers here.
May 17, 2010, 10:23 p.m. CST
I mean...you did say that you dreamt about her sex scene...
I doubt I could even speak in front of Wiig, so I'm not hating! ;o)
May 17, 2010, 10:28 p.m. CST
...or overused. It's kind of what happened to Amy Pohler too. Wiig was great in Whip It and Knocked Up.
May 17, 2010, 10:29 p.m. CST
She's pretty much exhausted her opportunities on that show and risks dragging her career down by overstaying her welcome. In addition to her Hollywood career, she should look at joining the cast of another show or having one built around her, a la Tina Fey.
Worse, she's also crowding the new talent, as it seems obvious that Lorne is so desperate to hang onto her that he's shoehorning her into every sketch.
May 17, 2010, 11:07 p.m. CST
Nah, just givin' you a hard time. I'm not a huge SNL watcher - I usually decide whether or not to watch based on the musical guest - so I don't know a lot of her characters on that show. I loved her in Whip It, though. I loved Whip It in general WAY more than I should have. Totally convinced me that I love Ellen Page and that Drew should direct more movies (which she'll probably do). Anyway, I've thought MacGruber looked funny from the first trailer posted here. I'll definitely be checking it out.
May 18, 2010, 12:53 a.m. CST
But I think Kristen is bound for a good long career ahead of her. She is really talented.

Wow Capone, you really milked those sex scene questions for all their worth, didn't you? What with all the talking about dreaming about Kristen's sex sounds, the sweat dripping on her bare skin, how it was her "first time" and all...Oh, and let's not forget you "favoriting" her Weekend Update character who's trait was to have uncontrollable orgasms...Also, interrogating incessantly about showing up at Comic-Con, just so you could stalk her again! Oh My God!

a.)"The noises… Did you do the classic closed-set sex scene like a lot of others do?" b.)"Sure. I don’t mean to fixate on this, but it’s what I had nightmares (yeah nightmares right) about last night, so I needed to get it out of my head." c.)"It was really just the noises." AND FINALLY: "The one a character that you did last season or maybe it was just last year that just cracked me up just watching it. I still watch it and it’s so funny and so subtle in a lot of ways, and you’ve only done her once and there’s not reason to bring her back, but it was on the Weekend Update when you played the woman who had that medical condition where she couldn’t stop having orgasms." Capone, you are weirdly fixated on the noises this woman makes regarding sex. It's obvious to everyone who reads it. Hell, even Harry probably felt a little skeeved out reading this. Creepy. Although, if you have an audio recording of this interview you should post it, because I think (and I'm sure most of the readers would agree) that it would be comedy fried gold. It may be the most unintentionally funny thing since Legends of the Fall!
May 18, 2010, 5:56 a.m. CST
Seriously, man. Stalk much? All you talked about was sex related stuff and then you commented on how cute all the new female cast members were. I felt uncomfortable just reading that shit. I can only imagine what Wiig thought the whole time. By the end, I wouldn't be surprised if you asked to sniff her panties.

Capone probably has her chained to the wall in some secret room in his basement. Someone please tell Lorne that she won't be back to the show.
May 18, 2010, 1:42 p.m. CST

lol I didn't find it creepy, and it seemed like the person he was interviewing was genuinely grateful for all the compliments. These people get asked about their nude scenes all the time. Obviously there was something about this one that was disturbing to Capone so he fixated on it a little bit. The creepiness is in your own heads, though.

May 18, 2010, 10:16 p.m. CST
Amazing that even SHE was shocked that sketch got on the air. Twice! I love SNL but it seems more repetitive than ever these days. I guess it's really hard to write a good original sketch.
May 19, 2010, 9:54 a.m. CST
I picked up that vibe when after a waaay too long interlude about the sex scene and Capone's dreaming about it...he then made a point of mentioning Wiig's "Orgasm Lady" which for some reason he "still watches." If I were her I would've been a little weirded out by that point.
May 19, 2010, 10:52 a.m. CST
