Shocker!! NBC To Deny LAW & ORDER Its Record-Breaking 21st Season??

I am – Hercules!!
Deadline Hollywood reports that “Law & Order” is done after all.
The low-rated drama would have broken “Gunsmoke’s” record for longing-running drama (but not longest-running anything else, thanks to longer-running shows like “The Simpsons,” “60 Minutes” and “Meet The Press”)
Very late last year, Business Week had this:
“I’m a ‘Law & Order’ junkie,” [NBC primetime entertainment president Angela] Bromstad said. “I wouldn’t want to be responsible for not having ‘Law & Order’ break the record.”
Bromstad later clarified that no decision had yet been made on the series’ next season.
The more popular “Law & Order SVU” is expected back next season, and the network is widely expected to launch “Law & Order: Los Angeles” next season under the stewardship of Showtime's “Brotherhood” mastermind, Blake Masters.

So this is what it's like...
-
First!
-
Blissful silence.
-
Make that "Second!"! LOL!
-
seriously do they all have downs?
-
wassup dude :)
-
Do I know you?
-
Just astonished at being first :)

It may be repetitive and formulaic, but L&O Prime was solid and entertaining and didn't treat its viewers like idiots. I'll take 20 more years of L&O over one more episode of the flashy, brain-dead Alphabet Soup procedurals on CBS.
-
This show became somewhat of a joke when they couldn't think of original stories anymore and started to re-enact popular true to life stories. I think they even did one about a Michial Jackson type molesting children not too long ago.
-
This show is done, stick a fork in it. Over the last four years, it has gone down the drain faster then post season 1 Heroes, culminating in the ultimate crapfest that was this latest season. I stopped watching for good after the "Put the Bush administration on trial" episode, in which a prosecutor told the jury to find the guy guilty based on their emotions, even though it had already been successfully argued that he broke no laws. The fuck? That's how the writers of LO think our courts should operate... not based on compelling arguments of guilt or innocence, but on whether or not the jury thinks the defendant is a bad person? It's not only bullshit, it's lazy bullshit. Ripped from the headlines my ass, try Ripped from fucking liberal fantasy land.
-
I don't know, I have enjoyed this season of original L&O much more than that ridiculous SVU. I think the current cast is one of the better ones that they have had on there.
-
And just move the show out west! it is not like they have not already replaced everyone on the show but the city of New York!
-
They screwed the pooch moving Leno to prime time. L&O is a casualty of that decision. Who knows, maybe they'll put it back after a few months.

Bring back Moriarty and Sorvino and reveal the whole show
by margot_tenenbaum
has been a sequel to Larry Cohen's 'The Stuff'.
-
He had those seersucker suits you know and he does that Wooooo and Ohhhh thing that throws the witnesses into telling him the truth.
-
Now they have room for Journeyman!
-
They should keep it another season and hold some pilot series in the bank in case one of the new kids stumbles out of the gate.
-
There's like a billion Law and Order episodes out there.
-
Going out of his way to post non-stories on Supernatural night just to mess with SN fans. I didn't say anything during Fringe, Survivor or Office talkbacks because those are regularly covered here, but Law and Order? And the Power Rangers one was Merrick so it doesn't count. Law and fucking Order. THIS should be the official SN discussion thread, I don't think any fans of the site would object to a fucking Law and Order talkback being hijacked.

They need a solid ADA character. And she is smoking hot.
-
In my last post I forgot about Parks and Recreation. In my defense, that's pretty easy to do.
-
I used to love this show, but then it became highly political and a shell of itself. I gave up on it about 7 seasons ago. I'm shocked that it lasted as long as it did.
-
Does anyone else dislike it as much as I do? I'll take an extra L&O over that show. But honestly, L&O was great for a long while, and ending it now wouldn't be a terrible thing. I just hope NBC gives it some kind of send-off. It deserves it.

Look, I think Christians are crazy, but I don't hate them. But this show does, and often, and SO PREDICTABLY. This is no longer a drama, it's propaganda. Fuck that and fuck them.
-
Used to be really good, though. And the comment about Christian bashing is right on the money.
-
It woulda been nice to let 'em break that record.
-
It used to be good, but echoing some of the earlier posts, it stopped being trials and became propaganda. Plus the DA's haven't lost a case in 10 years. Not one, as far as I can tell
-
Before its hiatus "Doctor Who" had run for 26 seasons. If you add the years of the currently running show, it works out to 31 years. Let's see a US show beat that!
-
"NBC: Where legacies last for minutes!"
-
poor law & order all it had was 20 seasons on the air i mean god they cant extend it aonther 20 or maybe
longer dick wolfs a huge turd or is
it douche? i cant decide which -
It's pretty much a 24 hour Law and Order station.
-
doctor who is still fresh even after all these years as to where
us programs grow stale and trite
after so many years -
i can honeslty see that show hitting 30 years
-
As The World Turns is ending in September. It will have lasted 54 years.
-
Down with generic cop dramas, down with them I say!
-
No one watches Dr. Who in the U.S.
-
he said to give us a Supernatural talkback for the finale
-
I live in the U.S. and I have been watching Dr. Who since 1978.
-
I've seen bits and pieces while in other people's houses. But I don't watch most TV, because it is a medium that either tells short, repetitive and vapid stories, or they drag arcs on forever without resolution, until a studio demands a change.
-
Dear viewers we have left; go fuck yourselves. sincerely NBC
-
That dude is almost as shameless as Perez Hilton.
-
For what it's worth, Ausiello announced that NBC is renewing Chuck.
-
This is the only home he's known for 15 years! Does he remember how to play any other role besides this one!

EW sucks ass.

Too bad. The last few seasons have been good. SVU sucks, thoug
by ash talon
The last few seasons of L&O have been pretty good. They started experimenting a little with handheld. The cast was great. Some more interesting political decisions for Sam Waterston (liked him winning the spot of DA).
SVU on the other hand is retarded. It's aimed at a 12yr old mentality. I can't stand that show. -
Bernard is a fucking douchebag. I love AA, but the way the character is written? Fuck him off, quickly.
He is always so god damn smarmy and condescending, accusing everyone he talks to instantly. The good cop bad cop thing was abandoned ages ago, and when it is still used it is because the bad cop is intimidating, not a smarmy asswipe.
If L&O is canceled it is because people don't like bernard. Fuck him off. -

-
seriously, just plain fuck.
-
doctor who is one of the best shows on television and i do live in the us rplocke thank you very much
-
was so intruiging when it first started it was something new and
exciting but the last ten years or so have been excrutiatingly painful -
It had higher ratings than V!! Oh, and Alyssa Milano's shitty show was also canceled.
-
Vincent D', always terrific, and I didn't even mind the split EPs and only getting a half season of him (Noth was pretty decent), plus now we've got Goldblum.
-
They should go back to shooting it on 16mm.
-
Set in a world where Vampires are the normal population (like Daybreakers) and have the occasional human, Vampire detectives, vampire judges and lawyers (aren't they already vampires).
Well the kids will love it -
to Law and Order: Los Angeles I'll be OK with it. Only reason to watch the show.
-
now every character actor in NY has it rougher, since L&O Prime, moreso than SVU, would really hire anyone who had a headshot.
-
I did like the show once, but only D'onofrio and his partner. Not a fan of Goldblum's character. He's just a variation on the D'onofrio's weird character, anyway. Oh, and I'm pretty sure it's 100% Goldblum and his new partner now.SVU's aim at going after sex crimes turned me off at first, even though I know it's not all of that. But the two leads who are supposedly good actors irritate me to no end, and are very overrated. Plus, they took Belzer's character from Homicide and made him bland and boring.
-
they seem to rely too much on stunt-casting of second rate famous actors as their "villains".
-
The guys who don't move to Hollywood. This show has been their bread and butter.
-
OK, I didn't even realize the new season had started. It's one of those shows we'll watch if we stumble on it, but don't actively pursue.
You're right on. After a little research it appears that that D'onofrio and Erbe left the show (though the characters aren't dead so they could return). It sounds like D'onofrio was done with the show, not I don't know if he's done with TV or not - apparently it was suggested his character might head to the FBI as a profiler (he should head on over to Criminal Minds...) -
They cancel L&O Prime just to launch L&O: Los Angeles, then in May 2012 SVU will be losing half of its cast? Their audience Sept. to May is the second oldest on TV. Dump the LA show, NBC has already failed twice with that (Boomtown and Southland.) Take that showrunner and writing staff and put them on L&O Prime. Then in May 2012 dump all the L&O shows.----later----m
-
D'of left due to burnout. Erbe left because she has a family and was being stalked. The stalker was showing up at the location shoots last year. Goldblum is OK, so is Saffron Burrows. But i don't know how long these two will want to stay on TV.
-
Isn't that basically Dragnet, which Wolf tried to remake and got 2 years out of? It started out very L&O like in season 1, but then tripled the cast, and turned it into a more typical cop show full of "cool" characters. It didn't make it past season 2, though I loved Ed O'Neill as Joe Friday.
-
Great job, pisscock network. Way to kick that legacy in the balls. And for what? "L&O:LA" stupid fucks think they can turn L&O into the CSI franchise! Look, I love LA, I was born here and will die here, but there's enough fuckin' shows on about LA in general. Law & Order is about New York, it's shot in New York, that is part of what makes it special. Jerkoffs at NBC have no idea what they're doing.
-
I'm curious about how McCoy's political career plays out. You could build an entire show around that character.
