Colin Farrell to inherit the fangs of Chris Sarandon?

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Yes, it's yet more remake news, but I've said it before, and I'll more than likely have to repeat it again, if the filmmakers have an interesting approach I'm open to the possibility. Take, for instance, this latest news. Deadline's Mike Fleming got wind of Colin Farrell's involvement in the Fright Night remake. He'd play the vampire role that Chris Sarandon (the '80s go to bad guy) originated, which I think could be an excellent piece of casting. This is the kind of role that would give the man the freedom he needs to create a super memorable character. Look at his turn in DAREDEVIL... whatever the faults of that movie (much of which were rectified in the director's cut, by the way) Farrell's Bullseye was always a step above. I'm also a big fan of IN BRUGES. Farrell has the charisma, he has the look and if he's allowed to play he can only bring some fun to the movie. Anton Yelchin is the kid going up against the vampires and Toni Collette is mentioned in Fleming's piece as well. If they can nail the Roddy McDowall role this could look very promising. Getting the right group of people together to play in a particular world is one way to pique my interest in a remake. Sure, it's a trip back to the well, but if it's a fun trip then who cares? -Quint quint@aintitcool.com Follow Me On Twitter
