Danny McBride And Aziz Ansari To Collaborate On Another Big-Screen Comedy!
Beaks here...
Are Danny McBride and Aziz Ansari going the comedy duo route?
Last month, we learned that Ansari and McBride would be appearing together in Ruben Fleischer's 30 MINUTES OR LESS. Though that film yet to start shooting, Deadline New York's Mike Fleming is reporting that these two funny fellas have just set up another project at Mandate Pictures. Plot details are nonexistent, but we do know the untitled comedy will be written by Harris Wittles (based on a pitch by Ansari and 30 ROCK's Matt Hubbard), and produced by Rough House gang of McBride, Jody Hill, David Gordon Green and Matt Reilly.
I have no idea if McBride & Ansari are looking to become their generation's Wilder & Pryor or Conway & Korman, but I'm certainly open to the idea - even though we've yet to see what kind of onscreen chemistry they've got. It'll be smoldering, I'm sure.

I actually don't even know who these people are. And I'm so uninspired by them that I have NO intention of bothering to find out either.

I was expecting a purely AC/DC score to the movie, but UNFORTUNATELY this was not the case.

I'm sure this'll, uh, be a movie that will exist.

And it was funnier than Aziz Ansari.

It's hard to track exactly who is on the nerd hate list at the moment. It looks like John Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. have jumped up the list in recent days, from numbers 89 and 94, to 13 and 14 respectively. Iron Man is simply too cool to like, and its plot holes too large to comprehend. Seth Rogen's position is holding steady at number five after a short honeymoon period in 2004. Aziz Ansari and Danny McBride are nipping at the heals of the television show "The Office", after their recent mainstream successes. Zach Galifianakis has also leapt several spots following the release of "The Hangover", in which multiple AICN members disliked watching a movie with people cooler than themselves. George Lucas continues to dominate the top spot on our list, a position he has held since the release of the infamous "Phantom Menace". However, one thing is for sure. Those people that create things and do stuff will continue to take criticism from those that remain angry at their computer screens.

That's gold, Joe! GOLD!!
-
There was some goofy shit in that movie, but McBride was like a fucking anchor pulling the whole thing down to the ocean floor. I can't imagine him ever uttering anything remotely funny. Pretty much douce incarnate.
-
I have heard nothing except for confirmation they will have a season 2. Get on with it boys!!
-
Everything was ATROCIOUS in that flick (except for that Brit chicks tight little ass).

I enjoy Aziz and think the man's funny, but McBride is an idiot who can't ad-lib his way out of a wet paper bag. His version of "improv"ing a line is to shout swear words in the middle. It's the worst kind of 6th grade "look at me" bullshit. As well, moreso than even Will Ferrell you can actually WATCH McBride thinking of his ad-lib before it comes out of his mouth. It's completely unnatural. Why anyone continues to think the man has talent is beyond me. <p> Eastbound and Down is the same bullshit as Foot Fist Way, which is Danny McBride acts like an asshole while everyone around him suffers (or is equally an asshole) and we're supposed to find something about that to identify with. Funny? That's subjective. What ISN'T subjective is that the show requires you to watch this manchild act like an idiot. I deal with enough douchebags in real life, I don't need to spend a half hour with one as the main character of a TV show.

That's cool. If you never liked him, there's nothing wrong with continuing not to like him. But there's a tendency among people here to embrace someone when they aren't quite famous, or on the down and out, and then hate them because they finally hit it big. It happened with just about all of the people I listed above. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but hating someone just because they have mainstream success is completely disingenuous. A bunch of people liked him once because they felt that they were the only people that knew about him, but hate him now because they realized they are just like everyone else. Also, this show doesn't require you to do anything. Why do you keep watching his stuff if you hate him so much? You have obviously seen Foot Fist Way, a bunch of Will Ferrell movies, and Eastbound and Down. If you are convinced you hate this kind of humor, why do you force yourself to watch it all?
