RIDDICK Plot Emerges!!

ShockTillYouDrop have themselves an "official" synopsis of the new RIDDICK movie, called RIDDICK.
Nothing terribly detailed here, but if you don't wish to have your RIDDICK cherry popped, you might wish to consider the following SPOILAGE!!!
Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

Didn't Riddick come out in late summer (aka- shit dumping ground) & I thought I remember it failing at B.O... How do the guaranteed money-makers of Zoolander & Anchorman 2 get rejected, but risky shit like this pushes through? No WAY the budget for this is less than the proposed $80M for Anchorman and the return (ticket sales) HAS to be lower....Riddick is such a niche movie for a certain (small) audience. That said, I liked Pitch Black but didn't like Riddick.

I really liked the other two...the directors cut of Chronicles is waaaaaay better than the theatrical cut. I love Riddick character, the morally flexible anti-hero is always fun to watch. He's the character Diesel was born to play...and I like Diesel, he seems like a decent guy...<P> But what the fuck? This sounds like bad fan fiction.<P> Hopefully they aren't going to abandon the story they've established so far, otherwise what's the point in investing in the character for another movie?<P> Also, they have to make this full on violence. No kiddie friendly violence please, the guy is a fucking killer.

was great. I don't understand why this needs to continue without a well written sequel to the snore-fest that was released as an "almost trilogy." Just continue the story, HAVE IT MAKE SENSE, bring back the feel of Pitch Black, and who knows... it may even polish up the poo that was released in between.

rewatched PB recently. They have discussions about belief in God and how Riddick "believes, but hates" God. Then they make a sequel where supermatural powers are a totally common thing. What's the pint of establishing a hybrid Christian-Muslim future religion and then burying the whole idea under this bullshit "underverse" or whatever. <p> And this stuff where Riddick is an alien- the last of the planet Furya- WTF? Pitch Black made it pretty clear that humans had expanded out and colonized. There weren't any little green men mentioned in that movie. Yes, they discovered the monsters in the dark, but that's not the same thing. <p> The whole expanded universe of Riddick feels wholly and completely like a separate story grafted onto this one popular character.

By gaining some mainstream attention and success, it only served to: 1.) Spawn a ton of terrible clones that were half as intelligent as the original material and didn't get the joke in the first place. 2.) Draw in too many moron fans who were, also, half as intelligent as the original material and didn't get the joke in the first place, who only managed to ... 3.) Create a backlash among the original fans, effectively turning them into, as the interneters might say, "haters." <br><br>This idea sounds terrible. But perhaps I'm just drinking Haterade. Or eating Hater Tots.

had some great one liners. Toombs... yeah. That guy. How could you NOT like Toombs? Any scene he shared with Riddick were the best. Too bad the story didn't focus on them. A cat and mouse game between the two with a subplot involving Jack would have been nice. Now I really did like Chronicles, but... like I said. Toombs and Riddick would have made a hell of a story on its own.

Pitch Black was a cool piece of sci-fi thriller action, and Chronicles was intruiging, seeing that it was an original attempt at creating a somewhat fleshed-out universe. Was I the only one who thought the Necromongers were cool as fuck? The whole mythology was VERY interesting, and could have been legitimately EPIC if it had a few ounces more of... I don't know... perfection or something. As far as things being gay, sucking dick, and one's left nut... is that an insult? good news as far a s im concerned. Persoanlly I like Twohy (I think he is damn underrated as an action/sci-fi director) and I really like this little "Conan is space" universe he has created. I too am dissapointed we wont be getting anymore Necromongers and Underverse, but I think we have to keep in mind that there is no way in hell they would get a budget to do that type of thing given how big COR bombed. So I am happy to take what we can get from this series...

While I am pumped for another Riddick, and I think Twohy will deliver on a good continuation of this universe, I am almost certain it wont make money, or just enough to break even....
