RIDDICK Plot Emerges!!

Merrick here...
ShockTillYouDrop have themselves an "official" synopsis of the new RIDDICK movie, called RIDDICK. Nothing terribly detailed here, but if you don't wish to have your RIDDICK cherry popped, you might wish to consider the following SPOILAGE!!!
Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.
...says STYD HERE. A piece of development art for the film can be found HERE - featuring a space doggie romping around with Riddick.

Why are bounty hunters descending on him if he's already been left for dead on a desolate planet full of killer predators?

    by Read and Shut Up

Did they pull that from fan fiction or something? The only thing that would've made it better is if it started like this: "In a world filled with..."

  • May 10, 2010, 12:38 p.m. CST

    by NappyP

im guessing they are ignoring the whole thing about his home planet being destroyed when he was young? Im not opposed to it, but its seems off. Especially how the 2nd went to great lengths to establish a new 'universe' (pun interceded) while staying true to the events of the the first film

Almost sounds like a prequel to Pitch Black

  • May 10, 2010, 12:54 p.m. CST

    How did this get greenlit?

    by UTexLex

Didn't Riddick come out in late summer (aka- shit dumping ground) & I thought I remember it failing at B.O... How do the guaranteed money-makers of Zoolander & Anchorman 2 get rejected, but risky shit like this pushes through? No WAY the budget for this is less than the proposed $80M for Anchorman and the return (ticket sales) HAS to be lower....Riddick is such a niche movie for a certain (small) audience. That said, I liked Pitch Black but didn't like Riddick.

When the games are lightyears better than the movies, you know it's time to stop making more movies... Also, did it just say that Riddick will be battling Aliens & Predators? HAHA!

    Erm, don't know about this...

    by UndeadXeke

I really liked the other two...the directors cut of Chronicles is waaaaaay better than the theatrical cut. I love Riddick character, the morally flexible anti-hero is always fun to watch. He's the character Diesel was born to play...and I like Diesel, he seems like a decent guy...
But what the fuck? This sounds like bad fan fiction.
Hopefully they aren't going to abandon the story they've established so far, otherwise what's the point in investing in the character for another movie?
Also, they have to make this full on violence. No kiddie friendly violence please, the guy is a fucking killer.

    Pitch Black...

    by DrGoodspeed

was great. I don't understand why this needs to continue without a well written sequel to the snore-fest that was released as an "almost trilogy." Just continue the story, HAVE IT MAKE SENSE, bring back the feel of Pitch Black, and who knows... it may even polish up the poo that was released in between.

They should stop ruining Pitch Black

    by Adelai Niska

rewatched PB recently. They have discussions about belief in God and how Riddick "believes, but hates" God. Then they make a sequel where supermatural powers are a totally common thing. What's the pint of establishing a hybrid Christian-Muslim future religion and then burying the whole idea under this bullshit "underverse" or whatever.
And this stuff where Riddick is an alien- the last of the planet Furya- WTF? Pitch Black made it pretty clear that humans had expanded out and colonized. There weren't any little green men mentioned in that movie. Yes, they discovered the monsters in the dark, but that's not the same thing.
The whole expanded universe of Riddick feels wholly and completely like a separate story grafted onto this one popular character.

    The problem with P&P&Z...

by jabbayoda that it became far too popular for its own good. It was a clever, silly and funny idea that should have stayed very cult-favorite and underground. By gaining some mainstream attention and success, it only served to: 1.) Spawn a ton of terrible clones that were half as intelligent as the original material and didn't get the joke in the first place. 2.) Draw in too many moron fans who were, also, half as intelligent as the original material and didn't get the joke in the first place, who only managed to ... 3.) Create a backlash among the original fans, effectively turning them into, as the interneters might say, "haters."

This idea sounds terrible. But perhaps I'm just drinking Haterade. had some great one liners. Toombs... yeah. That guy. How could you NOT like Toombs? Any scene he shared with Riddick were the best. Too bad the story didn't focus on them. A cat and mouse game between the two with a subplot involving Jack would have been nice. Now I really did like Chronicles, but... like I said. by blackwood

Like, everyone. If he ever comes out it will be as shocking as Ricky Martin and Lance Bass.
But more to the point, does anyone (except lesbians) truly hate the cock? I mean, if you have a cock and enjoy it, and enjoy what other people do with it, then don't you also love the cock? If you hate cock, you must hate touching it, because that's disgusting, so please stop masturbating as your read this. The next time your girlfriend or mother goes down on you, tell her she's disgusting, because she put that vile cock in her mouth. In fact, if you are truly of a cock-hating persuasion, I recommend you remove it with some scissors or duct tape and then donate it to your local sexual reassignment depot where it will be given to someone who will love it.
Seriously, guys, all this cock-hating around here is pretty fucking creepy. And yes, I take it up the ass, but that's beside the point. Cock is to love and be loved. Except by lesbians. And even then I would just recommend indifference, because as a gay I don't bother being shocked and appalled at vaginas.
Anyway, I'm not really into this movie but I won't write it off just yet.

    AWESOME is NOT gay

    by moviemo

Pitch Black was a cool piece of sci-fi thriller action, and Chronicles was intruiging, seeing that it was an original attempt at creating a somewhat fleshed-out universe. Was I the only one who thought the Necromongers were cool as fuck? The whole mythology was VERY interesting, and could have been legitimately EPIC if it had a few ounces more of... I don't know... perfection or something. As far as things being gay, sucking dick, and one's left nut... is that an insult? Don't know about you pencil dick tiny sacks here, but when my cock is getting sucked, or my nuts for that matter, its FUCKIN AWESOME and so far from gay. I never understood this as an insult, because sucking dick ROCKS, at least when its mine being sucked. We as men need to come up with another insult, because the chicks that suck my dick are by no means lame at it...

Riddick was the worst thing about Pitch Black...

...give me more cool Pitch Black aliens! That movie rocked!!!

What is this, a new HIGHLANDER series?

    by DarkZoneGraphics

Where continuity is thrown RIGHT out the fucking window? I mean I know the Riddick series never did big numbers, but it does have its following.

Riddick shaves his chest and taint.

    by fiester

Oils up, goes to the club and cage dances before joining a man-meat daisey chain that would make the director of The Human Centipede blush.

    hey VIN

    by El Cimarron

    i know you read this:
get Toombs on this and you got a hit. as someone else mentioned, the best parts of Riddick 2 were the exchanges with Toombs. He was a better villain than Cole Hauser in PB, played off better and less of an ass.
so, in conclusion, GET TOOMBS
I KNOW you read this.

What if Vin Diesel backs out...

    by DrGoodspeed

and Ice Cube fills in? Ya know, could be another scenario where Vin Diesel tells everyone how fortunate he is for being where he is and how grateful he is for his opportunities, and then spits in the face of sequels because he thinks he deserves more money, and tries to pull a Kindergarten Cop movie that no one see's. Then he falls off the earth when he could have been hammering out some great action movies because now who the fuck wants him? completely hypothetical of course.

  • May 11, 2010, 12:42 a.m. CST

    yeah Toombs was great

    by ominus

    i concur

  • May 11, 2010, 12:46 a.m. CST

First....fuck is this old news already, geez

    by southafricanguy

you really have to go anywhere but here if you want to know whats up like now as opposed to last week.

  • May 11, 2010, 12:50 a.m. CST

Second...I like both PB and COR so this is

    by southafricanguy

good news as far a s im concerned. Persoanlly I like Twohy (I think he is damn underrated as an action/sci-fi director) and I really like this little "Conan is space" universe he has created. I too am dissapointed we wont be getting anymore Necromongers and Underverse, but I think we have to keep in mind that there is no way in hell they would get a budget to do that type of thing given how big COR bombed. So I am happy to take what we can get from this series...

  • May 11, 2010, 12:56 a.m. CST

considering how fucking unlikely a new

    by southafricanguy

Riddick film should be. Seriously, how the fuck did they get funding for this? And 60 mil? Both PB and COR really did nt make money, Riddick really does appear to have only a cult fanbase at best. While I am pumped for another Riddick, and I think Twohy will deliver on a good continuation of this universe, I am almost certain it wont make money, or just enough to break even....

    Bounty Hunters?

    by windomearle39

Does Boba Fett turn up then?! Seriously though does anyone know what is happening with this live action TV show?

  • May 11, 2010, 5:18 a.m. CST

    by kwisatzhaderach

The live-action show is on hold according to Lucas himself. It's going to cost a fortune to make apparently.

  • May 11, 2010, 7:01 a.m. CST

Hey Kwis...whats up dude? So the live action

    by southafricanguy

Star Wars is on hold, why am I not suprised? I have always wondered how the hell they would pull of Star Wars live action on a tv show budget......

  • May 11, 2010, 8:13 a.m. CST

    I'll say it , too

    by BizarroJerry

Why is this even being made. Pitch Black was okay, Chronicles was just bad. And even if they were both great, we're talking a couple of movies with a small cult following. Why bother?

  • May 11, 2010, 9:06 a.m. CST

    by El Cimarron

is there a petition we could start to get Nick Chinlund (Toombs) casted in this? seriously

  • May 11, 2010, 9:29 a.m. CST

    bizarrojerry.....exactly my thoughts dude. I

    by southafricanguy

liked both films so I am happy we are getting another, but considering the b.o of the previous two, as you say its most likely not going to make money....unfortunatly Riddick really does only have a small cult following it seems...

  • May 11, 2010, 9:31 a.m. CST

elcimarron......right there with you. I am so

    by southafricanguy

hoping Nick Chundland will be back as Toombs. One of the best things about COR imho.....Personally Im also hoping Urban returns as Vaako, and that we get a little bit of the necromongers in the flashback.....

  • May 11, 2010, 9:35 a.m. CST

I am very curious about that synopsis though

    by southafricanguy

Riddick has to travel to his home world of Furya to save it from destruction? From who? Would that be the Necromongers? Afterall werent they the ones that wiped out his people?

  • May 11, 2010, 9:41 a.m. CST

They are called furyans because they are so furyous

Didnt he die in COR? I thought he did. Great character, would be cool to see him back.
SAG...hows it going bro? Long time no talk.

  • May 11, 2010, 11:47 a.m. CST

    PB & COR

    by rogueleader66

Both good films, at least they attempted to do something kinda new, something that seems to be lost in Hollywood. Too bad audiences don't seem to agree, status quo is what seems to satisfy the masses. Pathetic.
Looking forward to another Riddick adventure, I'll be there.

  • May 11, 2010, 11:57 a.m. CST

    Speaking of Twohy

    by rogueleader66

Just watched Below yesterday. Creepy, atmospheric movie. Well done. Twohy is underrated IMO. At least he really seems to try, seems to have a desire to put out films with at least a little bit of originality. Too bad audiences dont care about originality.

    Age Bracket

    by bangoskankwashere

Are you guys all 12 years old/ insecure about your sexuality or closet homos? I've never seen so much explicit gay talk on a movie thread. What's with all the Chronicles hate anyway. It was good sci-fi comic book fun.

I've always loved the COR universe

    by xalener

And the shitty acting and rushed plots add to the charm. I'm seeing it.

  • May 11, 2010, 6:05 p.m. CST

    by El Cimarron

Toombs was never shown explicitly dying in COR. All we got was a fade to black after 'I shoulda taken the money' while he was in the cage next to the SuperDogs. So there is a chance.
Cole Hauser, on the other hand, bit it in PB
