Matthew Vaughn’s X-MEN Movie To Hit Cinemas In 13 Months!!

I am – Hercules!! Is Fox in grave danger of losing the rights to make “X-Men” movies or something? Fox has sealed a deal with “Kick-Ass” director Matthew Vaughn to helm prequel “X-Men: First Class” and the studio has already set a surprising date for it to hit cinemas:
June 3, 2011

That’s less than 13 months from now. "Iron Man 2" began principal photography on April 6, 2009 and hit Peruvian cinemas on April 29, 2010. Also less than 13 months. So it can be done. It's just that "Iron Man 2" seemed like a sure thing from the week "Iron Man' opened. "First Class" always seemed less certain, perhaps because it will feature an unfamiliar cast in familiar roles. (There was even thought -- while "Chuck" creator Josh Schwartz was scripting the project -- that "First Class" might emerge as a sequel focusing on a new generation of X-Men.) I’m hoping Vaughn can pull off something great. I adored “Layer Cake” and “Kick-Ass” and I’m keen to see what he can do with a Young Erik Lensherr and Young Charles Xavier. Word is "First Class" producer Bryan Singer (who directed the first two "X-Men" movies) has been auditioning potential young Cyclopses and Marvel Girls in the same sessions he’s using for “Jack The Giant Killer.” Scripting on this project began in November 2008. Singer has been involved since late last year. Find the Hollywood Reporter’s story on the matter here.
