Updated! The Saturday And Sunday Screenings Of SOLOMON KANE At The NBFF Have Been Canceled!

4/24 Update: Unfortunately, the ash cloud currently wreaking havoc with travel to and from Europe has forced Michael J. Bassett to cancel his appearance at the Newport Beach Film Festival. And since he was traveling with the print, this means that the film will not be able to screen at either showing this weekend. The festival organizers are currently looking into arranging a special screening sometime in the near future. I'll be sure to let y'all know if that comes to pass.
My apologies for any confusion over the last twenty-four hours. Volcanos suck.

Whatever reason this guy is not coming to the US, that ain't it. There are no flights from Europe currently being canceled- they've been back to normal levels for days now. Sure, during the worst few days of the eruption, anyone who's flight was canceled got caught in the backlog. But once flights resumed, people with existing reservations had no problem leaving on schedule. Ergo, I call bullshit on this guy's story.

I really liked SOLOMON KANE. It's not a great movie, it will not change anything about cinema, but it was two damn fun hours at the cinema. The movie is honest, it shows good filmmaking skill, and in James Purefoy it has an action actor ready to be big. And it's not just the brawl that's good, he acts the hell out of the part to kingdom come. Proof again that even for playing badass ass-kickers you need acting chops. This movie was great fun for me.

The only Van Helsing resembling Solomon Kane is in the movie Van Helsing. That movie ripped off Solomon Kane's character for the witchhunter look. Van Helsing in Dracula is nothing like this at all. If you had read Dracula, you would realize that it is stupid to claim the movie version is anything like the book version. As everyone else but you seems to realize, Solomon Kane was ripped off for the movie Van Helsing.
