Singer and McQuarrie together again!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm a fan of the collaborations between Chris McQuarrie and Bryan Singer. I really liked VALKYRIE a lot and, of course, love THE USUAL SUSPECTS. Also, McQuarrie did a little uncredited work on X-Men... he told me in an interview once that the only piece of his script for X-Men that made it to the final flick was one of my favorite scenes in all the X-Men films, the prologue seeing Magneto's powers develop in the concentration camp. Anyway, McQuarrie's great and it's only good news from THR's Heat Vision blog that he's doing a rewrite on JACK THE GIANT KILLER. It doesn't look like we'll see a SUPERMAN movie from the team, but an epic fantasy flick about a war between humans and giants sounds good to me. -Quint quint@aintitcool.com Follow Me On Twitter

...but I found all of those "Wolverine and XMen Friends" movies garbage and that particular Magneto origin scene was the only decent part of any of them.

Nothing again good ol' Quint here but lately it seems like the news concerning Singer and Co. gets made and then a day or so later we come to find out that it wasn't quite as initial reports said it was. Ever since Superman didn't go as expected I've heard all kinds of projects that Singer was suppose to be doing. Not much has transpired from all of the hubbub.

Singer is entering Lucas/Spielberg territory now. Had a hit 15 years ago with The Usual Suspects and has been riding that gravy train ever since. Sure, the X-men movies were ok, but not top notch by any stretch of the imagination. Valkyrie- British accent, British accent, British accent, Tom Cruise. British accent, British accent, British accent, more Tom Cruise.

. . . the intros to young Magneto and Wolverine were the only 2 scenes in X-Men that feel remotely immersed in the X-Verse. The rest could have been made for TV.

Please tell me I incorrectly read into your statement that you were disappointed Singer wouldn't be destroying another Superman movie. If that's the case, your credibility just got flushed down the toilet!

One of the best gun films ever made. So many understated nuances, clever details and packed with cool shootouts rooted in realism.

Because it's a fucking travesty if he did. McQuarrie's Magneto opening made me sit up and think we had a classic X-Men film on our hands. And then it turned to utter shit topped off by Whedon's "lightning- toad" turd of a line.

Singer got to do a Superman sequel. That Superman universe is a great one and had they had the chance to step up the action and drama in the sequel to Superman returns I think they would have given us something great. I liked Superman Returns when it came out and still do... as much as the series needs to go somewhere else, I just would have loved to see what Singer could have done! While we're at it, same with Xmen 3!

What will ever happen to that reported $40 million footage of Superman on his dead planet that was cut from the movie? Whole movies have been made for less. I want to see it.

I just watched it for the first time a few days ago, I did quite like it. I don't think it tried to say anything bigger about World War II or National Socialism but I'm fine with that. They plan, they screw up, they plan, they screw up, and then the ending happens and everybody gets shot. Doesn't delve deeper into it but it was an okay heist flick but instead of stealing something they're trying to kill Hitler.

Singer's out of the Galactica movie (directing anyway)and the whole project is in development hell. Universal can't afford to do it, even though it's got hit written all over it.

<br><br> His Galactica movie certainly does NOT have hit written all over it. If anything, it's quite likely to be a huge failure. The new series made the story interesting, respectable, classy, and exciting. But Singer wants to make a flick more like the old horrible cheesy version. All that would do is piss off people and undo all the goodwill the new series earned.<br><br>

I can't believe you dopes who insist it is so bad.. I challenge you to rewatch it and not come away with some appreciation. This thing has so much quality that puts most comic films to shame. It actually is the reverse of most comic films in that it improves with age. Singer did'nt make a disposable product, he made a Superman film and I applaud the effort.

Nobody cares about the 2 million people who watched the new series or even the fans of the old series. If a they ever make a Galactica film, which is unlikely to say the least, it'll have to appeal to a far wider audience than the dateless nerds who watch cable on a Friday night.
