L.A. And O.C. Readers! We've Giving Away Tickets To The Newport Beach Film Festival's Screening Of SOLOMON KANE!

Beaks here...

Michael J. Bassett's SOLOMON KANE is a fun and fairly bloody take on Robert E. Howard's serialized saga about the exploits of a damned 17th Century mercenary. For me, it felt like a throwback to the sword-and-sorcery flicks of the 1980s; I also appreciated that Bassett stuck with the relentlessly serious tone of Howard's books, rather than inject a some humor into the proceedings to make it more "accessible". Tonally, SOLOMON KANE feels directly related to John Milius's CONAN THE BARBARIAN. If you loved that classic, I think you owe it to yourself to check out Bassett's picture. So I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to give away some tickets to the Newport Beach Film Festival's two screenings of SOLOMON KANE this weekend! I have six (6) pairs of tickets for each showing. Here are your options:

Saturday, April 24th at 5:45pm Edwards Island Cinema (in Fashion Island) Sunday, April 25th at 8:30pm Regency South Coast Village Theater (across from South Coast Plaza)

If you can make either of these, fire off an email to mrbeaks@aintitcool.com with the subject header "SOLOMON KANE Newport", and be sure to include the following information: 1) Your full name. 2) Your guest's name. 3) Which screening you'd like to attend. The deadline for entries is Thursday, April 22nd at 3 PM PT. I'll post the list of winners that evening. For more on the Newport Film Festival, check out the official site. If there are still tickets available, I highly recommend SOLITARY MAN and I AM LOVE.
