Ain't It Cool News (

New Animated STAR WARS Series To Serve As Sequel To RETURN OF THE JEDI????

I am – Hercules!!

It looks like we're getting a "Star Wars" series set after the events of "Return of the Jedi." Is Lucasfilm director of fan relations Steve Sansweet talking about the animated comedy from Seth Green and that "Daily Show" writer? Will we finally get to find out what happened after the Empire's defeat -- but in the form of a sitcom? From
During the Q&A section of the panel, a fan said, "I would really love to see new adventures after Jedi with our favorite characters Luke, Han and Leia," to which Sansweet replied, "And you will, in the new animation."
Steve Sansweet confirmed at C2E2 that LucasFilm plans to revisit the original cast of characters from Star Wars in post Return of the Jedi adventures. However, it will be in the same animated format as The Clone Wars series running today.
Also this:
Oh, there was one ominous thing he said though... not everyone who dies in sci-fi stays dead. He continued by stating we'll see what he means in 3 to 4 years.
But. But we saw Anakin, happy and wavy, with the pretty glow as the Ewoks danced. Find all of BOL’s post on the matter here. And, just to cleanse the palate, an early trailer for "Star Wars II" narrated by Harrison Ford:

If not, get Hamill to reprise Luke. I could care less about the EU cannon... most of it sucks and was written way before the Prequels.

    Star Wars Continuity

    by Antz

Is one of those things that they actually track across all media, so it would be interesting to see many of the events played out that have already been published, ie Luke goes to the dark side, the Emperor transferring to new clone bodies, death of Chewbacca etc.

  • April 18, 2010, 8:08 p.m. CST

All the movies will be animated

    by ebolamonkey

I can just feel it. Lucas is dying to unify it all, fix mistakes, expand storylines, and leave it in a format that can be messed with and tweaked for decades. He loves the freedom of total animation and I think he's going to pull the trigger soon.

Unless Jabba returns? Or Jabba's little goblin pet? Or maybe the hot Twi'Lek chick (geezus, that's way too close to Twilight chick for my liking!) who got eaten by the Rancor? Well, the good news is Mark Hamill can still voice Luke. Dunno if Ford is up for cartoons, he's probably got a bad feeling about this. Oh, and George -- ya should've gone with my original idea mate, Boba Fett should have been a woman, an ex-flame of Solo.

    Dead horse.

    by Nick Michalak

Stop beating it with a stick, Lucas. You've already shit canned the quality level of Star Wars as it is. You create three films with stories and characters that defy logic, intelligence, and decency. You know you can't write, you know you hate working with actors, and you must know you can't direct. So, WHY?! Just tell me why you keep doing this? Isn't there anything else in life your that you have any ambition, any passion for that you still want to accomplish or create before your end days?

  • April 18, 2010, 8:58 p.m. CST

    by Merlin_Ambrosius

...via clone? Also While This sounds better than all the other ideas floating around, I'm not too keen on the animation from the Clone Wars. I'd prefer something a little smoother even if we have to settle for 2D. Hopefully the original cast would come back to voice their characters. Expecially, Luke, Leia, and Han. Also, I wonder if the Luke's new Jedi Knights will be celibate or if he will take a wife as in so many of the novelizations. I'd prefer the latter as his gene's are too precious too waste. ("The Force runs strong in your family!" And all that).

    Lucas is Done

    by BruceBurger

A comedy in the style of clone wars? The freshness, inventiveness and progressiveness of the orginal starwars saga is gone. Lucas is no a corrupt old man, resembling his once ironic creation, Jaba the Hut. Like a gangster, Lucas the Hut is raping the pillaged bones of his once beloved franchise for the last morsel of creativity. In his destructivness, he is sacrificing the sanctity of the holy trinity. If his aim is to turn Star Wars into a non-relevent laughing stock among the general public, he is succeeding admirably. Like a senior citizen with a gun, his source of entertainment should mercifully be taken from him and he must be quickly and quietly retired. While Lucas the Hut may once have been a cultural luminary he is now a retarded child to be treated kindly and the be smiled at but not to be taken seriously...

But again, if anyone is thinking, "sitcom" with this...god help us...they can't be THAT out of touch can they?

I mean, okay, some of the worst parts of the prequels came from the attempts at 'comedy' or from someone being 'clever', but a Star Wars Sitcom (whether it be what they're referring to here or something else), is just going to alienate more people. I like Seth Green just fine, but really...who thinks this is a good idea? Show of hands will do... Yeah, that's what I thought.

    Very True, Fa_Tass_DinoMolester

    by BruceBurger

Lucas hates the original series and wished to see it subconsiously destroyed. After all, the success of Star Wars has been a demanding mistress that has suffocated his other projects. Thus, In Lucas's mind, Star Wars must be destroyed!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is how Lucas felt, even if he doesn't realize it. In any interview with Lucas from about 1978-1985, Lucas claims he just views SW as a way to fund his Ranch, which would be a haven for small, independent filmmaking. As you've said, look how that turned out. Lucas spent so much time on SW that his wife ran off with the interior decorator. Definitely some issues there!

    Bib after Jabba from Wookiepedia

    by jimbojones123

As Jabba's sail barge exploded, Fortuna escaped on a private skiff and returned to the palace to take over. He fought a small battle over the remainder of Jabba's possessions, and was the apparent winner. However, soon the mysterious B'omarr Monks who inhabited the cellars removed his brain from his body and placed it in a spider-droid walker, much as the monks themselves used. For years Fortuna went on in madness.[8] Six months after the events at Endor, a Twi'lek by the name of Firith Olan received Fortuna's messages that he'd been secretly sending and arrived on Tatooine to claim Jabba's treasures. Olan uncovered clues that an Imperial Agent by the name of Lirin Banolt knew of the final location of the missing Strike-class medium cruiser, the Eidolon. Olan knew that if he were to take possession of the ship, his personal power would increase greatly. However, the Eidolon was a fake—Sate Pestage had a fake built and destroyed it while in hyperspace. The real purpose of the Eidolon was a hidden base on Tatooine which Pestage could escape to. Olan used Fortuna's computer skills to unlock the location of various weapons caches scattered over Tatooine and was able to take control of at least 64 TIE Interceptors. Rogue Squadron had been tasked by Admiral Ackbar with investigating events on Tatooine and uncovered the plot while enjoying the hospitality of Huff Darklighter. By this time, the Imperials began poking around led by Marl Semtin and destroyed Olan's TIE's. Olan tried to hide on Ryloth from his enemies and tried to abandon Fortuna on the planet but he was able to stow away on Wedge Antilles' ship and return to Tatooine. Marl Semtin was tasked with securing the Eidolon Base and capturing Olan—he planned to put Olan in charge of the base given his underworld connections. Rogue Squadron attacked Eidolon Base, Olan panicked and Semtin stabbed him. Olan fled the base but ran right into Fortuna outside who took the wounded Twi'lek back to Jabba's Palace. He somehow managed to convince the monks to place his brain in the body of Olan, using the same techniques that got him in the walker in the first place.[9] Then with Olan's resources at his disposal along with the credits he embezzled from Jabba over the years, Fortuna began rebuilding Jabba's criminal empire, and was able to continue on in the criminal underworld.

But Anakin Solo isn't in the Thrawn trilogy

    by Tall_Boy66

The guy who wrote Dark Empire, which takes place a year after the Thrawn books, really kind of threw it for a loop. Because the New Republic strikes back and beats back Thrawn's resurgence and then, hey, what the fuck? Imperials take over Courscant? Imperial civil war?! Clone Emperor! Leia a fully-functioning Jedi and pregnant with another kid?! All of the Solo kids were mentioned but they bumped off Anakin solo to make it less confusing, and there are barely any references to the Clone Emperor, aside from a latter-era Timothy Zhan novel where Mara Jade (probably acting as the writer's mouthpiece) all but spits at the notion.

    by nexxus7

If those three could be brought back (doubt they could get Harrison Ford), and the CGI animation style was more hyperrealistic than Clone Wars--preferably along the lines of Final Fantasy--the series could be amazing. I could even see a theatrical release to kick it off and fund the entire project. In which case Ford might very well voice Han. James Earl Jones could even voice Vader in flashback sequences.

I don't see why people get upity on what is and isn't canon

    by Tall_Boy66

I don't get it. If it's got a damn label of Star Wars on it, it "happened", as much as anything in a fictional universe can "happen". Same thing with Star Trek. I will admit to anything that gets changed in a live-action production supersedes what happens in spin-off materiel, that's just a given. But if it isn't referenced or a subsequent book or comic or whatever has a work around? I'm all for it. So, following the logic and to use Star Trek as an example: in my head, yes, the Star Trek crew did run into the X-Men. They just don't talk about it very much.

before everyone figures out that, yes, Star Wars was a fucking horrible thing for creativity and cinema. Lucas' actions continue to be a perfect microcosm for the continued slow death of originality in Hollywood. Really quite sad considering how wonderful and groundbreaking the original movie truly was. But I think I'm ready to time travel back to '69-'75 when blockbusters were talky depression fests and the protagonists died in the 3rd reel.

Yes Star Wars is much more than that to many people but the financial motivations for continuing to "milk" Star Wars should be pretty clear. I'm not sure any of you even realize how repetitive you sound. With EVERY Star Wars article on this board comes a steady steam of half-ass knee jerk reactions to projects. <p>I haven't followed the Clone Wars because I'm over the prequel era. But I have no problem with the visual style or the concept... just really tired of pre-ANH stories. This live action series seems like a big tease but I've been putting all my hope in Star Wars into that... but I'm not convinced it's going to actually happen.</p> <p>I read a lot of the EU pre NJO and while I have fond memories of those books, I have no problem with scrapping the whole thing. Just say it was an "alternate" universe and be done with it. I'd much rather see GL's take on the future of the old characters. Even if it ends up not being that great, it's his story, he should be the one to tell the "official" story of how their lives end up after destroying the Second Death Star.</p> <p>But I have to agree with the previous poster who mentioned Cade Skywalker. The Legacy series is THE best SW out right now, hands down. It's adult-oriented (Cade is luke's grandson, and he has a drug problem), with a great script, and it does a very cool twist on the previous SW universe. I collect it in the trades. It is currently the only SW I bother with, and has been ever since I started reading it a year ago.

I never liked the idea of killing off Chewie.

    It's called integrity!

    by CeejayNightwing

Thats what stops art becoming franchise fodder. Sure Lucas is a businessman but he started as an artist with an ideal. he has more money than he could spend, he doesn't need to make any more Star Wars but he continues to repackage it for another cheap sale simply because he no longer cares for it as art, it's merely a franchise to him. Compare SW with LOTR, The Tolkien books have been around longer and are amongst the most popular books in history. The Tolkien Estate have not treated it as a Franchise to be sold and resold in as many labels as possible the way Lucas has with Star Wars. They've treated the art with respect and it's maintained its integrity for over 50 years! SW lost its integrity the minute Lucas made Return of the Jedi and those spin off Ewok movies. Since then its been game to make anything and just stick the SW title on it and call it canon becasue he knows there's always some idiot fanboy who'll pay to see it and thousands more who moan but still see it just becasue it's Star Wars.

CeejayNightwing I get what you are saying and certainly can agree on many of your points. It's not my intention to defend shitty PT movies, weak video games, and Luke Skywalker underoos. However it's simply not realistic to suggest that George Lucas should have sat on his hands and not touched his own universe for the last 35 years simply because some fans don't like anything past ESB. That is insane. The Clone Wars series is pretty cool and this new post-rotj series has a lot of potential. There have also been some respectable SW games and books over the years. And for everything else SW related that either you or I might dislike there are a million fans who will buy it up. There is a clearly a demand for this product. If you choose to see SW as art that is respectable, however I would just suggest ignoring everything else. Believe me the SW legacy is NOT in the overly dramatic toilet that people on this board would have you believe.

    Clone Wars is fine...

    by AndoSoundsLikeAMong

For what it is. In fact, I find it better than expected. The main thing letting it down are undoubtedly the scripts; the dialogue is uniformly flat, just terrible, but then none of the films sparkle in that regard either. <p>You also have events within the Clone Wars feeling redundant in the bigger picture; we all know where most of these characters are going, and how they get there. <p>But the ideas for many of the episodes are excellent, and the battles are varied and top-notch for TV. They do a great job of rotating through a variety of characters and the clones themselves are great. I do get a kick out of thinking that these are the guys who will turn and kill all the Jedi. <p>Just like with the prequals, if you can't extract any enjoyment from them at all you can always go back to watching the countless other high-production value sci-fi series out there... go on then...!

Clone Wars this season has been differently interesting

    by Tall_Boy66

Basically so far every episode or so they've been doing a different genre and slapping a Star Wars frame around it. There was an "Aliens" style episode with Genosians which led into a "Thing" style episode with Geonosian brain slugs, they've done a Kirosawa riff (again, it's a thing in Lucas productions) with a Seven Samurai, they've done palace intrigue political thrillers, they've done a submarine movie in space, they've even done giant monster movies. The series is pretty cool now that they've got a handle on it, which seems to be "What genre can we warp Star Wars into this week?"

    by FuckAUserName

Your drug dealer analogy doesn't really function on any level because SW fans are far too diverse. Surprisingly there actually ARE people out there who enjoy the PT as much as or even more than the OT. For your analogy to hold water you'd have to say everything SW related after some imaginary point became inherently BAD for most everyone - and that's impossible to claim. Also, a serious substance addiction is a bit of a stretch when comparing it to people who just happen to like some popular sci-fi flicks.

  • April 19, 2010, 1:41 a.m. CST

'Cause, at it's core, Star Wars is just cinematic larceny

    by Tall_Boy66

I mean that in a good way. Every Star Wars movie takes bits and pieces of various genres and smashes it into a Star Wars frame, but those are really just for individual scenes or maybe something like a set or a style. but with Clone Wars taking a different genre about each week, it gives it a chance to really delve into how you can do Genre X in a certain framework. It's all a hellova lot better than the movie they put out, that's for darn sure!

I agree. I actually give a shit about the clones in the cartoon series more than the CG clones from the films. I'm a huge SW fan but even I thought that was impossible. Anakin & many of the other characters come off more likable and human. Even the rigid and overly sterile Jedi order is fleshed out more. Clone Wars is also an awesome opportunity to tidy up loose ends. I only hope the series doesn't lose steam as it progresses.

I meant the Clone Wars series is better than the CW movie

    by Tall_Boy66

the Clone Wars movie was an oversize pilot episode with a really badly imagined main villain, Ziro the Hutt, that might have played better on TV, but pilot episodes for TV series, aside from like Lost and Enterprise (which "Broken Bow" was probably the best damn episode of the seires), are usually pretty bad and lame. But the series has picked up the slack from the Clone Wars movie and is now running a lot smoother and not as awkward. I even like Ashoka now, which is crazy because she irritated the hell out of me in the film and the early episodes. Maybe I just got used to her.

  • April 19, 2010, 1:55 a.m. CST

But the Clone Wars movie did have Christopher Lee

    by Tall_Boy66

Sure, it was just his voice but it was more screentime Christopher Lee had as Dooku than in either Ep. 2 or 3, so I guess that gives the movie an advantage. The guy they got for the Clone Wars series is still pretty damn good, but Christopher Frickin' Lee's voice is Christopher Frickin' Lee's voice. He even made the dragon fight in Alice and Wonderland cooler with only, like, 2 lines or something.

I don't recall hating it as much as I thought I would, but I do remember disliking many parts. Ashoka's cutesy/kiddiness has been toned down and the series has found its way since GL stepped back from it imo. One thing I don't think GL ever got was that kids WILL like characters and want the damn toys even if said characters are bad-ass adults. With creations such as Jar Jar I don't know what market he was going after. Perhaps the idiot market.

@ Tallboy, agree with you on Ashoka

    by ToMonicker

Hated her at first too, and except for that lame saber hunt episode, she actually adds much needed texture to the show. <p> Darkly, I was so hoping she would get airlocked in that Bane episode, as it would really be an important nudge for Anakin's turn, but even as I thought it, I knew they'd never do it for many reasons. <p> I know it's just a Toy Ad but in many ways it really HAS been better than any of the Prequels.

by FuckAUserName imminent. I hope it plays out well and takes place shortly before the events of ROTS. Perhaps Dooku could take her out? That would add much more weight to the Anakin/Dooku opening battle in ep. 3.

    Ashoka won't die

    by RPLocke

No one big in Star Wars dies, so I bet she hides out during Order 66, so they can bring her back in the new animated series, or live action series.

  • April 19, 2010, 2:28 a.m. CST

Ashoka either dies, gets fired, or becomes a full Jedi

    by Tall_Boy66

Her getting bounced from the Jedi order would be the easiest way to explain why she isn't in the films and Anakin doesn't mention her or seem very perturbed about her not being there. I have a weird feeling the final episode of Clone Wars will synch up with the ending of Revenge of the Sith and she's just popping in and out of the background ala Tag and Bink are Dead. Maybe she has a showdown with Anakin at the Jedi Temple during Order 66 and the series ends with a throwdown between them where she either bites it or escapes, showing a hint of Anakin still having good in him. Some people speculated Dooku killed her off, which would explain Anakin executing him, but I've always bought that moment without any extra reason other than "because Palpatine told him too".

    All This Fucking Whining

    by SminkyPinky

Seriously. Shut the fuck up. If you don't like it, ignore it. I hate Clone Wars, I tend to ignore it. Simple as. That old chestnut, "Let it die". Why? People still enjoy it, in whatever form. Star Wars will not just shrivel up and die because it's become something you pathetic, intolerant shits don't like. When I get annoyed at something new in SW, I remember the films I saw when I was a kid. The ones I can still watch now. On DVD. Untouched. They are out there to buy, you know. And SW is a US movie phenomenon. And I'm sure most of you being from the US, why they fuck are you complaining about someone making money off of it? Lucas is no worse than any of the big studios out there who continually remake classic films, pillaging their libraries and endlessly releasing their own "special editions" on DVD to fill the shelves in Tesco and WalMart. No one is forcing ANY of you to buy into any if it. No one. And yet you continue to whine and complain as though it's your god given right to dicate what it should be. And you wish death on the person who created it in the first place? That is fucking disgusting. Seriously. Drew McWeeny's recent post on all of thie victim culture bullshit is spot on. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN GO AND DO SOMETHING ELSE AND LEAVE IT TO THE PEOPLE WHO DO LIKE IT. Absolutely pathetic, whinging infantile cretins.

    Here We Go Again

    by Crow3711

I'm not whiner, and I don't really care one way or the other, it doesn't affect me anymore, I just don't care....but this sounds fucking stupid. I don't want to know what happens after. We wanted to know what happened before...and look where that got us. Somehow, this animated series will find a way to make everything in the OT pointless, and then change the perspective making everything saw not really what we thought we were seeing...and george will have finally ruined all of star wars. Not that I care. Just saying...not cool, georgie. This is gonna get ugly.

  • April 19, 2010, 6:33 a.m. CST

    by SminkyPinky

Ruined? How can it be ruined? just ignore it and enjoy what you enjoy. I cannot understand if folks are not able to enjoy a film from the past because of a modern extension or spin off. I don't especially like a lot of the new stuff but I don't let it get in the way of what I enjoyed back then and still do to this day.

And if the cartoon is 10 years after....what drama would the live action 7-9 bring when you know what the future holds for them. Im wanting more live action films not cartoons. I miss the anticipation of new star wars films, lining up for them, the atmosphere. That was part of it all

Start serializing the post-Original Trilogy EU stories, starting with Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy, or even Dark Horse's Dark Empire. Doesn't matter how...CG, cel-animation, live action, whatever.<p> The stories are written, the canon is worked out, and not only will you bait in the fans who would love to see their favorite novels and scenes come to life, newbies will rush out to buy up the older EU novels to find out what happens next, so it's good for the publishing arm of Lucasfilm.<p> This makes perfect sense, the fans would love it, and it's economically sound, so rest assured Lucas will never fucking do it.

What Mr Lucas should do, as he is one for embracing all new cinema tech, is wait until CGI is good enough to create realistic humans on screen, so instead of having a shitty cartoon or all the actors back in their wheelchairs, he could get the script written now, get the original actors to record the vocals and when technology allows, make the sequels so that the actors still look young and not OAP's

Clone Wars has been a huge success

    by REVENGE_of_FETT

So I have no problem at all with them continueing animated adventures.</p><p>It would certainly make more sense for sequels to be animated rather than recast those iconic roles. Besides, after the Empire falls, what's left to say? I guess you can start building up other Sith and start the whole thing over again, but that would seem pretty anti-climactic to me.</p><p>Then again, whether or not there are Sith, there are still dark force users all over the place. You could maybe have an uneasy alliance between several of these and they could pose a significant threat.</p><p>However, I'm FAAAAR more interested in the original Jedi-Sith wars during the timeperiod during and after Knights of the Old Republic. Now THAT'S a film trilogy begging to happen! It could even have Yoda in it since he's trained Jedi for 900 years.</p><p>But I really want Lucasfilm to get back to personal stories. All the politics and mass armadas are fun, but I missed the simplicity of Luke's story in the prequels. Just give us one kid's story of a journey to manhood and the friends he makes along the way. I think that's what all of us really loved about the OT but felt a bit wanting in the prequels. There was too much stuff going on all the time and the personal story of Anakin got lost in it. I still like the prequels. In fact I just watched Sith again this weekend and it's still a badass flick.

    by REVENGE_of_FETT

No fucking way Lucas is going to do that. I don't know what legal stuff Lucas has in place for novelists. It could be that the Thrawn Trilogy is 100% owned by Lucvas for example, though I doubt that. But he's not going to film it even if it is because he didn't think it up. I think he's been pretty clear that everything canon comes from his brain. Possible exceptions for some names here and there, but I'm sure he had to approve them in the first place.

    by Darth Busey

Let's face it, Harrison Ford isn't doing a live action trilogy no matter how much $$$ Lucas throws at him, so a cartoon version is probably the best we're gonna get. Plus, you can use original cast voices (all of whom are still alive), and not have to worry about 60 year old Mark Hamill running around or Carrie Fisher oozing out of a bikini.

    by Deviant Apex

Thats exactly what I was thinking. So basically EU (expanded universe) is fucked unless they magically tie it in with the novels which will obviously not happen because Lucas wants the main Star Wars storyline to come from his mind only. No, what I see happening is a animated show similar to how Sarah Conner Chronicles diverged from the main Terminator films. What they need to do is come up with some new cool, inventive characters instead of reusing the same old characters. I wouldnt mind seeing certain characters return, but I would rather see cool new characters who see the Star Wars universe from a completely different vantage point. Anyway, hopefully this series will be as good as Clone Wars or maybe even better.

I'm hoping this will go the Zahn Trilogy route. Let's be honest, it was the Zhan trilogy that got fan boys excited about the new movies. We had no reason after the Ewok fest that was Jedi, to expect anything great from a Phantom Menace. But the Zhan trilogy so ruled our asses that we forgot about the Ewoks and let our hope get out of hand. If you haven't read them, you are missing out. The tone is much closer to Empire and Revenge of the Sith than anything else.

    Zahn Trilogy ...

    by ganda1f

I loved it because it got me excited about Star Wars again.<br>And hate it, because everything in the EU that has come after has been so awful most of it makes TPM look good.

    Thrawn trilogy comments

    by TheHumanBurrito

You guys are JUST as clueless about Star Wars as Lucas is if you really want those pieces of shit made into movies:<p>Maybe you missed that Imperial officers were all "British" white male humans, in very Nazi like uniforms? Yeah, that xenophobic allegory thing? Yep, I'm SURE they'd put an alien in charge. Seems like just what Nazis would do to a Jew in their ranks.<p>

  • April 19, 2010, 6:21 p.m. CST

    Im sick of Star Wars

    by grendel69

Lucas obviously lost his mind years ago and will continue milking SW until he's in the grave.

  • April 19, 2010, 6:37 p.m. CST

    by MattmanReturns

Actually Zahn DID address the alien in charge thing. Of course, you would have actually READ the books to know that. I can understand thinking they're overhyped, but calling them "pieces of shit" is just extreme.

  • April 19, 2010, 6:56 p.m. CST

    by TheHumanBurrito

..."addressing" it does not make it sensible or correct. To call upon my favorite whipping horse, Star Trek 2009 "addressed" many plot continuity issues but still managed to not make any fucking sense. RotJ "addressed" issues from previous movies but still made no sense and was total horseshit. "Addressing" something doesn't make it anything but that:an addressing! A reference to!<p>Of course, you would actually have READ the dictionary to know that.<p>How about we throw in a line like "Only the Sith deal in absolutes!" and call that good, logical, sensible, in continuity and theme writing, since it "addresses" things?

    by magnetoelectric

Why the fuck cant we get an animated TNG? Worf gotta eat , right?<p> One thing I always found interesting in the Zahn trilogy was the idea that Luke was this fully realized/self actualized Jedi. He does shit in those books that haven't been done even in the prequels.Like using the force on his ignited lightsaber to make it fly around the room cutting shit.

  • April 19, 2010, 10:59 p.m. CST

I liked Zahn's Thrawn Triliogy okay.

    by rabidfnark

But the thing about the monkey/sloth creatures that canceled out the force was a bridge too far. It was just too much. It didn't exactly ruin the was just one of those things I try real hard to forget when it comes to Star Wars lore.

Ok, let's do a series about the STAR WARS universe set in a time after Darth Vader has died, now that we've spent five years doing series before he existed... WHAT?! Vader! We just want to see Vader doing killer moves and being a bad motha! The most popular character in the 'verse and he hasn't been in anything since RETURN?! Stupid. Fette and Vader. Feature either of them, and you've got a hit.

This proposed 'comedy' slant for a series....

    by Cervantes

....doesn't surprise me.<P>A lot of 'Star Wars' material is already a joke!<P>Just for a second there, I thought that Sansweet had let the cat out the bag that the 'funny' series was just a hoax, and that we were gonna get something a lot more substantial. Unfortunately, it looks like his comments were mis-interpreted, and were gonna be getting some ridiculous 'humourous' concept after all....<P>Anyway, I'd rather this so-called 'funny' take place in some 'Mos Eisley'-style bar setting somewhere (NOT 'Mos Eisley' though!), filled with boozed-up denizens and their personal day-to-day interactions. ,p.Basically, a 'Star Wars' version of 'CHEERS'! That at least might turn out to be mildly entertaining.

Now to get off the comedy angle

    by Dazzler69

Maybe if enough fans bitch enough we can get off the comedy angle and finally have stories we really want...with Luke and the gang.

    by Geekgasm

... set an OT animated series between "A New Hope" and "Empire" - everybody happy. You get Darth Vader, you get Stormtroopers, you get Luke, you get Han and Leia, you get it all. Like the early Marvel Comics series only without the green bunny man.

  • April 20, 2010, 12:25 p.m. CST
