I am – Hercules!!
Pajiba – a website with which I am unfamiliar – reports that Joss Whedon is not only negotiating to direct “The Avengers,” he’s negotiating also to REWRITE both the “Avengers” and “First Avenger: Captain America” scripts.
IMDb currently has the team of Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (the three “Narnia” movies) scripting the Captain America project.
IMDb has Zak Penn scripting “Avengers.” Penn previously scripted “Elektra,” “Fantastic Four,” “X-Men: The Last Stand” and “The Incredible Hulk,” which were four Marvel movies I fucking hated.
Variety confirmed early Wednesday that Whedon would "rework" the "Avengers" screenplay as well as direct.
Longtime readers know I love Whedon’s work, so obviously I feel all this – if true – is a big step in a better direction.
Before the "Buffy" and "Firefly" TV shows made him famous, Whedon made a small fortune as a movie-script doctor, shoring up projects as diverse as "Toy Story" (for which Whedon was Oscar-nominated) and "Speed."
