Aronofsky to direct Rachel Weisz as Jackie Kennedy?!?

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. You know, Darren Aronofsky always goes for these light films... He's addicted to cotton-candy, I tell ya'! So, I saw a tweet from FirstShowing's Alex Billington pointing to an Entertainment Weekly story that says Aronofsky is going to be directing JACKIE, the flick that Steven Spielberg was rumored to be shopping around a while back. That rumor is, apparently, full of the boo-sheet. It's unclear if Aronofsky was involved from the beginning, but it's pretty damn clear Spielberg isn't involved. Not surprisingly Aronofsky would be directing wife, the lovely, adorable and talented Rachel Weisz as Jackie O. in this flick which focuses on the days immediately following John F. Kennedy's assassination. Noah Oppenheim wrote the script, which has been much-discussed since hitting the town. Sounds like a pitch-perfect role for Weisz (despite her being a red coat), who has the same gorgeous grace that Jackie O. had. Is my inner nerd a little sad that Aronofsky couldn't get RoboCop off the ground? Yeah, a bit... I'd love to see him play in that sandbox, but honestly leaving well enough alone ain't that bad either. Thoughts? -Quint quint@aintitcool.com Follow Me On Twitter
