Last House On The Left remake director on PAY THE GHOST!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Seems like a lot of genre news is breaking tonight and really interesting genre stuff, too... First there was the Emile Hirsch post-alien invasion bit of news and now there's word on Dennis Iliadis' new project from Variety. Iliadis directed THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake and I'm ashamed to admit this, as a horror fan, but I have yet to see the movie, despite hearing really good things about it. I have no excuses beyond the "just haven't gotten around to it" ones, but I will right that wrong soon. I loved the trailers... so much so I even bought Taken By Trees' cover of Sweet Child O' Mine. Based on a short story by Tim Lebbon, PAY THE GHOST looks to be set on or around Halloween (I love genre flicks set around Halloween, almost without question) and focuses on a young couple whose son is abducted and never found. The next year "they begin to sense his presence in frightening ways," and investigation leads them to a malevolent spirit. I love ghost stories, I love Halloween-set horror flicks and this whole thing seems right up my alley. Dan Kay adapted the story and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment is financing with filming expected to begin this summer. -Quint quint@aintitcool.com Follow Me On Twitter
