FRIGHT NIGHT Remake Finds Its Charley Brewster! You're So Cool, Yelchin!

Beaks here...

Looks like the new Pavel Chekov is the new Charley Brewster. According to The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit, Anton Yelchin is in negotiations to take the Sir William Ragsdale role in DreamWorks' remake of Tom Holland's 1985 horror-comedy classic FRIGHT NIGHT. Yelchin will play the suspicious young man who's convinced his new next door neighbor is a vampire. There's no word yet on who's playing suave bloodsucker Jerry Dandrige, and I wish director Craig Gillespie luck on finding someone half as iconic as Chris Sarandon (ditto replacing Roddy McDowell as Peter Vincent). I've heard some odd rumors regarding Marti Noxon's screenplay, but I still trust that the veteran TV writer with credits on MAD MEN and BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER will do right by Holland's original. Casting Yelchin is an encouraging development, and I've no problem with Gillespie as director (my issues with LARS AND THE REAL GIRL were completely script-related). I just hope they strike the right tone. Again, good luck with that. Somewhat related, I really wish Brad Fiedel would come out of retirement.

    Me Likey

    by BumLove

Anton Yelchin is a good choice so far....not the usual Hollywood pretty boy...the kid can act...lets hope the rest of the players are equal in talent.

  • April 6, 2010, 9:26 p.m. CST

I have no problem with this casting.

    by thesinofthesky

But I'll still always love the originals. First?

  • April 6, 2010, 9:34 p.m. CST

You Know Who Should Get the McDowell role?

    by OutsideChance

Shatner. Seriously. Make Peter Vincent a washed up Shakespearean actor stuck doing a horror show. Have Shat play him early on as Denny Crane and then, when it's time to man up and kill some vampires, have him find his inner Kirk and start playing it straight (or what passes for straight on TOS).

  • April 6, 2010, 9:35 p.m. CST

    I say Alan Rickman

    by ShiftyEyedDog2

It'd be nice to see him back in a juicy villain role, and he'd be perfect. but I'm guessing they'll cast younger.

  • April 6, 2010, 9:39 p.m. CST

    BILLY ZANE as Jerry Dandridge <.<;;

    by El Post-Modern Anchor-Baby

    No, seriously!

  • April 6, 2010, 9:44 p.m. CST

    Yelchin is a great choice!

    by Sacredfun

He's been really consistently good in things I've seen him in. And hmm... What about Jeremy Northam as Jerry Dandridge? He's older than Sarandon was at the time, but I think he could work the right suave charm/menace. And he's still hot. And do we know if they're going with the same EXACT concept? I would be curious what would happen if they made the mentor figure a woman... like some former Elvira type who used to do exploitation horror. I do LOVE the original, but maybe they need to change it up to distance it from the original? I know, I know, let the hating commence...

  • April 6, 2010, 9:48 p.m. CST

Please keep the CGI to an absolute minimum

    by BumLove

Fright Night is a classic, and one of the great things about it were the creature effects. If this one is riddled with CGI images....then don't even bother making it...pack it in right now....

  • April 6, 2010, 9:52 p.m. CST

    Yelchin is fantastic.

    by Lenny Nero

Even aside from his strong film work (check indie films more than the mainstream stuff), his performances on "Huff" and probably the best episode of "Criminal Minds" solidifies him in my mind as a supremely talented individual.

  • April 6, 2010, 9:53 p.m. CST

    It'll be hard...

by JonQuixote get the Vincent role wrong. OutsideChance was fantastic with his pick of Shatner. SED2 makes another great choice with Rickman. I'd love to see Brian Cox, personally. But there are so many great options. Anyway, this is a good remake - the premise carries the first movie. Beyond that, it's pretty meh. Maybe this will be great.

  • April 6, 2010, 9:55 p.m. CST

    God, I love the original!

    Christopher Walken as Peter Vincent.

  • April 6, 2010, 10:19 p.m. CST

    Michael Caine as Vincent

    by Sumatran_Rat_Monkey

would be my first choice, but I dig on the idea of Shat in the roll as well. Dandridge is a little harder.

  • April 6, 2010, 10:21 p.m. CST

    Shat is Perfect!

    by freerangecelt

    Great idea!

  • April 6, 2010, 10:21 p.m. CST

    William Shatner would be cool

    by BumLove

If not him, Ian Mckellan (Gandalf) would be good. Or even Martin Landau (Vincent Price)....but definitely not Micheal Caine...yes, he's a good actor...but a bit too much of a fartbag, and not suited to this role.

  • April 6, 2010, 10:25 p.m. CST

I cant believe that BumLove was first post....

    by I_am_Torgo

...Stephen Geoffreys! Anyone, anyone? Oh the irony of it all.

  • April 6, 2010, 10:30 p.m. CST

    by Sumatran_Rat_Monkey

True, he's a fartbag, but he has the range and the comedy background to pull off a good Peter Vincent. Now Mckellan, I could definitely go for int he roll...

  • April 6, 2010, 10:36 p.m. CST

    Anyone read the script?

    by NippleEffect

they going campy? Or is this a darker, scarier take one the story?

I'm not totally opposed to him in the role...he could do great things with it.

    Colin Farrell as Dandridge

    by Quartermass-87

Hey Colin could so the sinister and seduction Dandridge needs to have. As for Peter Vincent yeah Shatner could work but Peter Vincent should be a little more bumbling and timid like Roddy's was of course until he kicked vamp ass. Hugh Laurie could maybe do it....he's lanky and tall and could bumble I'm sure. No who would play Evil is a bigger and just as important question...let the ideas come forth.

Oh my god I LOVE the Billy Zane suggestion

    by IndustryKiller!

It will never happen, but his performance in Demon Knight is still one of the great unheralded horror performances of all time. In fact that whole movie, especially William Sadler, one of the best character actors we have, is just criminally underrated.

Anton Yelchin is not a bad choice actually. For a minute there I thought they were going for one of those "Pretty boy" Disney channel teens. Complete with a weird, hip haircut. No, Yelchin is great casting. I'd love to see Josh Brolin or Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Dandridge. As another poster pointed out Bill Nighy would be excellent as Mr. Vincent. Anyone seen Never cry werewolf? Movie sucked hard and a blatant Fright Night rip-off. Replace the vampire with a werewolf and voila, we have a movie!

    by SunTzu77

It's time for someone to ruin the classics "Near Dark" or "Dreamscape." <br> <br> Anyway, about this remake... if I were casting... my choices would have been... Charlie Brewster - Jay Baruchel; Jerry Dandrige - Robert Downey Jr.; Amy Peterson - Ellen Page; Peter Vincent - Steve Carell; "Evil" Ed Thompson - Clark Duke. The thing about the original... was the mix of camp/comedy and horror... Yelchin just seems like an odd choice. Oh, and I'd hire Rick Baker for this too.

The original is for me, simply, the greatest vampire flick ever made. Unless they go the route of some kid in real life seeking Chris Sarandon's help after they find a 'real' vampire, I won't be watching as it in no way can ever hope to be as good as the original, let alone better. Ergo, WTF is the point in bothering.

Both Fright Night movies are solid

    by SoylentMean

Roddy McDowell as Peter Vincent is one of my favortie Horror supporting roles. I have a lot of love for the originals. I'm not entirely opposed to this remake as long as a few parameters are met:<P> It must be an "R" rated film<P> It has to be funny without resorting to outright camp<P> The Peter Vincent role needs to be somebody that people love<P> The character of Evil needs to have an annoying, yet memorable voice, preferably like an ashmatic that's been huffing helium.

    by Hint_of_Smegma

Unlike so many of the other remakes source material, this is a perfect film. Perfect. The casting was unbeatable - everyone was perfect for the role they had. The direction was brilliant, Fiedel's score was incredible and gave the film a fantastic mood. The 'setpiece' scenes, such as the attack in Billy's room and the club seduction/abduction were so well done, no other so-called 'horror' film has come close for me. The effects are still brilliant today and beat the shit out of any CGI as far as I'm concerned. It's perfect. It can't be remade better. The only way to make a film that can be positively regarded is to take the concept and move it into the 'real' world, have Sarandon pulled back in as'd bring added weight to the original in hindsight and could make his "Welcome to Fright Night....for real" line a setpiece in the new movie. I don't dislike the idea of Yelchin in the new movie, but the fact he's been cast as Charlie shows they've thrown out the real world/Sarandon idea and are simply remaking the original. Based on that, it'll fail. It'll make decent box office I've no doubt, but compared to the original it's going to be heartbreaking. You can't catch lightning in a bottle twice. It'll be a moderate success moneywise, but it'll be a complete failure as a movie. You can't improve upon perfection.

    Yeah... What Hint_of_Smegma said.

    by NomoredirtyjokespleaseweareYanks

However Smegma. He might not have the chops for it compared to Sarandon, but I was thinking the same shit but with Ragsdale. Imagine his weariness. It's been years since Hermans Head. His only flame of fame is Fright Night Fests and at one a crazy ass kid shows up. The next day the kids girlfriend and best mate rock up with some cash and a sweet, easy gig. <p> I guess it's best to point out that I'm quite drunk and have an intense love for Fright Night. Even(to a lesser extent) part 2.

  • April 7, 2010, 9:09 a.m. CST

It's interesting that Stephen Geoffrey's became a gay pornstar

    by BumLove

In the film Fright Night, it's hinted that Evil is picked on, and that's what Dandridge says when he lures him into his fold before biting him on the neck, that they won't pick on him anymore for being "different". We are never shown him picked on, but you get the feeling that there's something unspoken going on with Evil that he's being picked on for. Because he seems like a scrappy little dude who wouldn't get picked on as much as Charlie...but Dandridge almost seems to seduce him. Lots of gay undertones.

Great casting suggestions throughout. The original is a classic even, but the kind of classic the is perfect for a remake. This really could be great.

    Sarah Michelle Geller

    by Darkman

Everything you said about CHARLIE BARTLETT...absolutely true. <br><br> And while I think we should keep him off the typecasting wagon, it's nice to see that people share my idea of McLovin as Evil Ed.

  • April 7, 2010, 9:17 a.m. CST're right.

    by Hint_of_Smegma

It's a variation on the theme that'd definately fit, and work really well - Ragsdale is actually a very good actor when he's given the chance to shine. To be fair to him he put in a much better performance in FN2 than he did in the yeah, he's no Chris Sarandon but at the same time, I'd be over the moon if he was the focus of the new film. It's desperately sad they're just remaking it after all. I've no hope for it, no enthusiasm, only sad resignation that the one good idea that could have had this film standing alongside the original has been thrown out. It's a massive missed opportunity to create a great film, and something for us vamp fans to look forward to in this age of twinkling fop fangless wonders. Props to you for showing love to Fright Night 2, as well. It wasn't as good as the original, but it was fantastic in it's own way - seeing Charlie and Peter together again was wonderful even then. Both those movies get played at my house 5 or 6 times a year. Love them completely. I really do hate the constant negativity in talkbacks - I'm guilty of it too from time to time, but we do go overboard on the shitcalling on this site - but in this instance, I'll jump in feet first. If this is a remake and not a 'real world' sequel, then FUCK THIS FILM.

  • April 7, 2010, 9:24 a.m. CST

I agree the movie shouldn't be remade,

    by Cobb05

But it's happening. The wheels are in motion, so there's nothing we can do. So we can only hope for the best. I love the original movie. I do think there are some things that can be improved upon. I think the character of Amy could've been written better and I would've liked to have seen a little more vampire "Evil". Also i think they could've done a little more with Billy Cole. So there is a chance this can be a good movie. But it really all hangs on the casting of Dandridge and Peter Vincent. I'm sure they'll get good people though.

And maybe instead of Charley's mom

    by freerangecelt

he's living with his dad, who is played by Bruce Campbell. The whole movie could be peppered by cameos of horror/B movie actors.

  • April 7, 2010, 9:32 a.m. CST

Not to hate on other people's casting ideas.....

    by BumLove

....but stuffing the film full of actors like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Bruce Campbell would be too much of a distraction for my liking, and would make it an entirely different type of movie. Those actors already have so much history with their own genres and characters that it would take the film in too many different directions and not be a Fright Night movie. The remake itself may not even be a Fright Night movie and just be another awful bastardization....but if Hollywood attempts remakes, they should craft them right in terms of story, characters, and casting...instead of filling the screen with as much crowd-pleasing demographic bait as possible.

    by Cobb05

Anton Yelchin would not be dating Sarah Michelle Gellar. They's want someone in her late teens/early 20's. She's almost mid 30's. And the only role Bruce could maybe play is Billy Cole. And I don't think he's be right. And someone talked about Charlie's mom becoming a dad. You need him to live with his mom cause she would fall for Dandridge's charm. A father would ge suspicious. Also the scene where he might be killing the mom in her bedroom would not work with a father. Well, not as well.

They're only capable of processing any information if its banged over their head in as obvious and repetitive a way as possible. Hence their love for Whedon's pathetic writing. It fucking sickens me that we're even having to be reminded of that abomination of a show in a Fright Night talkback. Even a talkback about a creatively bankrupt remake of the original. And Knox, my faith for this left me when I read the words "Anton Yelchin cast as CHARLIE BREWSTER". There's no hope now friend, no hope at all.

Shatner, Rickman... how about Michael Beihn(getting up there in age),Michael Caine, Jeff Bridges,Geoffrey Rush,John Hurt,Willem Dafoe... so many choices, its hard to screw this one up. As a 14 year old, I loved the FX in this movie. I agree a old school approach to this would be cool. Maybe mix it with CGI instead of solely relying on it. At the time it was beautiful and terrifying at the same time...evoked an atmosphere of deep love for the movie even before I'd seen it. Can't say I've ever felt that from an advertising poster before or since. And listen to that Brad Fiedel score....oh fuck that's incredible stuff. Just listen to it....couldn't be more perfect. People missing the point on S M Gellar...

    by spud mcspud

The idea is that she is a FEMALE Peter Vincent figure - so instead of Vincent, we have Sarah Michelle Gellar playing herself as a washed-up star for whom the last big thing she did onscreen was CRUEL INTENTIONS. She'd be a bitter late-night TV host (or, more likely, a web series host) riffing off her BUFFY past to keep her dwindling bunch of viewers watching. I'm not saying its perfect - hell, this generation won't fucking get what made FRIGHT NIGHT so good since they're all too fucking young to remember Hammer Horror, which Roddy's Peter Vincent is obviously affectionately linked with (I like to think they cast Roddy McDowell because Peter Cushing was already dead) - but if you must lose that awesome link with 70s vampire movies, and make this shit-awful remake for today's audience, the nearest comparison to Peter Vincent being a Hammer Horror star is to have Gellar as a 90s TV star. <P> Or just not make the fucking thing, which would be MY personal preference...

  • April 7, 2010, 3:30 p.m. CST

    No-one's missing the point, Spud.

    by Hint_of_Smegma

She's just terrible though, and it makes me physically sick even thinking she has ever watched Fright Night, let alone could be involved in a remake so thank fuck it's just fantasy casting. There's a reason she's washed up, and I can do without the irony of that plot point if it means we get a credible actor in the role instead of a hack only famous because horny guys wanted to see her tits fall out while she was doing karate.

Smegma - you see my point, though...

    by spud mcspud

This generation is way too young to get the whole connection between Peter Vincent and his 70s Hammer Horror past and Charlie's love for contemporary horror gradually understanding Peter and HIS past by living through having, in effect, a 70s Hammer Horror vampire move in next door. The generation this movie is being remade for won't have even HEARD of Hammer Horror. And they REALLY won't get that the name Peter Vincent is a combination of Peter Cushing and Vincent Price, two of the most prolific Hammer actors of the time.<P> Yes, the SMG idea is shit... but the closest, I think, that this generation would get to the same comparison in the original.<P> To be honest, if they ARE going with the Hammer Horror comparison anyway, you could do worse than David Warner. And I LOVED the Shatner idea. But what about... JEFFREY COMBS AS PETER VINCENT??<P> JEFFREY fucking COMBS. That ROCKS...

    by Darth Macchio

..this guy is one of those actors who never enunciates their speech with an actual pause between words. Brewster (Ragsdale) didn't sound like that at all unless he was scared in FN.<p>Yes, this is reaching or minutia bullshit and I'm sure this guy will be ok or I hope...but the remake-plague is creeping ever closer to the movies most near and dear to my (our?) hearts and I just question the need to remake or prequelize/sequalize things like FrightNight, The Thing, Big Trouble, EFNY, Blade Runner, Alien/s, Terminator, etc, etc....<p>Even to the point of the speech patterns of the actors chosen to play key roles in those wonderful films of our memory/youth/whatever.<p>Point of fact, I think if Yelchin could pull off geeky excitement, he could easily be Evil Ed but I think someone less "laid back" seeming needs to be Charlie Brewster...someone more 'spazzy' or more hyper than Yelchin has acted in all the roles I've seen him perform.<p>Is Paul Dano too old? He'd probably be perfect if no one else...

    Narc came out in 2002

    by BumLove

Where is he now? He's very old...and he looks very weathered. He doesn't have the look of an ageless vampire...he looks like a balding husband of five kids. Just because he has that vampire connection with Lost Boys doesn't make him a good fit. <p> He might have some acting talent....I just disagree with the fit for this role.

    So we're casting are we...?

    by Darth Macchio

Charlie Brewster: Paul Dano<p> Amy: Allison Lohman<p> Evil Ed: Anton Yelchin<p> Peter Vincent: Frank Langella (can you imagine?)<p> Jerry Dandridge: Mark Strong or maybe even George Clooney is he's capable of character acting (which he's probably not)..Strong is tho and he'd be excellent.<p> Billy Cole: Paul Bettany? Maybe Patrick Wilson?

  • April 7, 2010, 4:32 p.m. CST

    Frank Langella? MAGNIFICENT!

And Kevin James as Billy Cole. <p> I give up.

    Isn't there a handsome, middle-aged actor . . .

    by Nice Marmot

. . . who can bring the menace, that ISN'T a big name? Like an up and comer who's on the verge? Wasn't Sarandon a no name when he played Dandridge? I've only seen him in 2 other movies, 'Dog Day Afternoon' and 'Princess Bride.' I think you'd only need a good veteran thesp to play Peter Vincent.

  • April 7, 2010, 5:12 p.m. CST

I so want the kid seeking out Sarandon's help

    by Nice Marmot

That idea just gets me going and a plain old remake just does NOTHING for me. I'm also liking a female vampire this time. I'm thinking a comeback for Michelle Pfeiffer. I swear, pleasing a modern audience AND die hard fans as well wouldn't take rocket surgery.

  • April 7, 2010, 5:28 p.m. CST

    Marmot....female vamp won't work.

    by Hint_of_Smegma

They did that as good as they could in FN2, and in Vamp. They're just not as threatening. Sarandon had it all, best onscreen vamp ever. No-one will ever top that. The only hope this film had was the kid seeking out Sarandon or Ragsdale idea, it's the only way this movie would have stood on it's own and had the potential to be a bad-ass vampire film - something seriously hardcore and yet respectful of the original. This remake will be watered down, with too many fucking winks to the camera and post-Whedon oh-so-smart-ass dialogue - think Jennifer's Body with a vampire. The more we find out about this movie as it's time gets near, the more a bit of me will die inside. Fuck this film.

Thats why I mentioned Jon Hamm. He's in his mid to upper '30s, handsome, can wear clothes well, can play menacing and humorous, and outside of Mad Men fans and AICN, is not well known.

    by El Post-Modern Anchor-Baby

Keeping in mind Spud McSpud's "This generation is way too young to get the whole connection between Peter Vincent and his 70s Hammer Horror past" theory,(which is true btw) i wanna take it a bit further and say that the remake should pay homage to '80s Horror, the same way the original payed homage to '70s Hammer films. Hence my choice of Robert Englund for Peter Vincent.

Yet another classic for Hollywood to rape.

    by Violator90

It shouldn’t be rehashed. The original is a classic fun horror movie. But sadly it’s getting made. But it does have the potential of being a great movie—IF! And it’s a big IF it’s handled with respect, which I really hope they do. But they got Brewster already so it’s no stopping it now. It’s a safe bet that it’s going to end up just like all the other rehashed version of classic horror movies. . . a steaming pile of shit. I’m really tired of all these “remake/re-imagine” shit! There ARE some good ideas floating around, it’s just that the fucking studios are too chicken shit to take a risk. <p> But just imagining of a remake with people that would actually fit the roles and do some justice to the original is actually fun. Something that we haven’t been actually able to do with the majority of these craptastic rehashes. So here are my 2 cents: <p> I think Crispin Glover or Bill Nighy for Peter Vincent would actually be great. But the idea of making the mentor a woman is probably the best idea. Getting some one to fill the shoes of Roddy is really going to be the problem. So changing Peter Vincent into Pamela Vincent is awesome. The spirit of Roddy’s performance would be maintained but with a twist. Sarah Michelle Gellar or Charisma Carpenter would be nice, but some one mentioned the real Queen of Horror (and how I forgot about her is a sin but) Elvira as the mentor. NOW that would guarantee me at the theater! It wound just be cake to see Elvira back on the big sceen. But having Jamie Lee Curtis would be joygasmic. Billy Zane as Jerry Dandridge. Perfect. IndustryKiller, I was thinking the same thing. DEMON KNIGHTS was one of Zane’s best performance. Every one in that move was awesome! Plus we got to see a pre-Smith Jada Pikett in her undies! And McLovin as Evil Ed. . . Brilliant. I can totally see him as Evil Ed.

For the record, Vincent Price was not in Hammer films. He is 60s/70s horror movies were American International Pictures (AIP). THe two Hammer biggies were Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Who, sadly, are too dead and too old (respectively) to play Peter Vincent, but either would be awesome. And so would Vincent Price. If he weren't also dead.

Jerry Dandridge - Julian McMahon Evil Ed - Ben Foster Amy - Ellen Page Peter Vincent - Pete Postlethwaite BAM!

  • April 7, 2010, 10:17 p.m. CST

Okay, here's my list based on the best of this talkback:

    by BumLove

Evil Ed: Lucas Black has the look...he'll do...though I would love a younger Ed Norton in that role.... <p> Peter Vincent: Ian McKellan <p> Amy: Alison Brie <p> Jerry Dandridge: Christoph Waltz <p> Billy Cole: Ed Norton, Crispin Glover, Keanu Reeves....surprise me. A bit of stunt casting for the Billy role wouldn't hurt as long as they are willing to downplay and give the same understated performance of the original Billy. Even Kevin Spacey would be a trip as Billy Cole.

    by BumLove

...I do like the idea mentioned by some of you to have Christopher Lee as Peter Vincent. At first it didn't sit well because I'm used to seeing him as the villain, but then that's what would be so to see him pull off Peter Vincent and root for him as the vampire would be something.

This talk back has turned into...

    by SunTzu77

...a casting hell hole. The thing is this remake can't take itself seriously... that's why my choices were... Charlie Brewster - Jay Baruchel (great with deadpan delivery and comedy)... or better yet... I like Nicholas D'Agosto and Jesse Bradford as well; Jerry Dandrige - Robert Downey Jr. (great with comedies and great with line delivery... ala sherlock... iron man... and tropic thunder); Amy Peterson - Ellen Page (great with deadpan delivery and comedy); Peter Vincent needs to be a fraidy cat... like the original... a bit of a klutz as well... I can personally picture Steve Carell with grey hair... or Christoph Waltz. Ian McKellan and Frank Langella are too high brow. "Evil" Ed Thompson is hard for me... maybe Clark Duke could be obnoxious... I don't know. I picture the character being obnoxious like Stifler from American Pie... I can't think of an actor atm who can pull that off.

I don't know what to think of Anton Yelchin

    by AsimovLives

All the movies i have seen him were two terrible movies in which the poor guy was very poorly direct, TERMINATOR SALVATION and FRAUD TREK. I really can't tell if he's some special talented new guy to watch for or if he's just another over-hyped anoying young IT boy.

  • April 8, 2010, 11:13 a.m. CST

Fraud Trek? Give me a break, Asimov.

    by Hint_of_Smegma

I've been a massive Trek fan since I was a kid, with the exception of Voyager naturally. If ever the moniker Fraud Trek could be hung on something, that'd be the genuine candidate, not a pretty terrific Star Trek film that knocks the shit out of every Trek movie since the original cast hung up their uniforms. As to Yelchin, I think he's good and he did a good job as both Pavel and Kyle. He's not a problem inthe cast as far as I'm concerned, they just shouldn't have him as Charlie - have him as a 'real life' fan of Fright Night seeking Sarandon or Ragsdale because he's run into a 'real' vampire. That's the only way I can accept any of this.

The essence of the Peter Vincent character

    by gun_will_travel

is a former B-film monster killer, 20 years past his prime, with questionable acting skills. How about filling the role with a 70s/80s actor like: Michael Douglas Roger Moore John Saxon Marc Singer Or if you wanted a guy who is really Roddy-like, I'd say Ian Holm.
