SCREAM 3's release date pushed back, plus more info!
Hey folks, Harry here with this tidbit about the status of SCREAM 3. Seems the film has been moved out of the outrageously crowded December slot and moved back in time for Valentine's Day. Ahhhh... isn't that sweet? Heh. It'll be such a cuddle fest. Personally I'm anxious to go to this movie for one reason and that is Parker Posey. Otherwise... ugh. Ya know. But because Parker is in it, I'm harboring some hopes. Really I am. Though it seems that most of us are a bit tired of the formula... Let's hope they stray from the path quite a bit for this film. Shake it up, and have alot of fun. Here's the scoop...

Here is the latest on "Scream 3".
Filming is almost done. "Silent Bob" and Jay have already shot their "secret cameo", and so
has Carrie Fisher. Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Liev Shreiber, and most of the others have
already finished their parts. Courteney and Parker work until Tuesday, then they are done.
The last day is on Wednesday, with Kelly Rutherford from "Melrose Place".
The plot centers around "Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro". "Stab 2" is in theaters during "Scream
3", the tagline for "Stab 2" is "Even True Stories have Sequels". It is rumored that Eliza
Dushku (Faith from Buffy) will play the role of Sidney Prescott in "Stab 2".
The final showdown with the killer will most likely take place on the sets for "Stab 3". They
are replicas of the houses used in "Scream 1".
And "Scream 3" has been pushed back to February 7th because of all the other "big" films being
released in December.

Are they appearing as Jay and Silent Bob. or as jason mewes and kevin smith in different roles. cos the former is retarded. unless theyre the killers...no wait...i was wrong. that would still suck. hrrmm.
and is anybody really upset that the movies been knocked back. nope didn't think so...
and that whole 1st thing just isn't satisfying...at all -
because that's something you just want to get over with as fast as possible. Just like this movie !

Cap here with a little venting to do, but first the info on Rocky Horror (for the most recent poster) -- the "sequel" he is writing is a stage musical to follow the exploits of Brad and Janet a few months after the original. Janet is pregnant with either Rocky or the transvestite doctor's baby (he hadn't decided yet at the interview). Now for the idiots. I know we need idiots in this world. It makes it that much easier for the rest of us to accumulate their stuff while their ranting about "failed sequels". And you know what I'm talking about, all the people on this board bitching about Scream 3. They just KNOW it's going to suck, and they can't wait to get it into the theaters so they can just watch it and get it over with. My question -- why? I'm not a horror movie "buff" by any means, but I enjoy the genre. I liked Scream. I thought it was original. I thought Scream 2 was better than most horror movies (no not as good as the first, but the cast of characters still puts it over trash like Urban Legends). But WHY, oh WHY, do people act like Kevin and Wes are creating a personal affront to them jsut by taking on a third movie? Guess what, fanboy -- they have no personal obligation to you for this movie! They have an obligation to create the best possible film they can for the mass market. No more. And they will do that. But no matter what, most people on this board will rail them unmercifully (because it's so much more fun to bitch than to say, "yeah, that was pretty good. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours and six bucks."). For cyring out loud, the movie team is already going out of their way to throw some "inside" humor into the film with Jay and Silent Bob. Do you think ANYBODY besides you movie geeks will even appreciate the appearance? Hell no. So stop your whining and enjoy the movie for what it is. Something that's likely to surprise you with its quality. Cap out...

You know, everybody just naturally wants to hate Scream 3 on principle. I have confidence that it will be entertaining, funny, scary, AND wrap up the films quite nicely. Sure it's hard to stay afloat in a sea of cheap knockoffs, but Scream 1&2 had the advantage of (gasp!) good writing. Yes, we all saw the killer a mile away in #2, but how many folks can actually say they saw the accomplice coming? Scream 3, unless things go terribly awry, will be great... And then the backlash will come and people will hate it.

Ditto on being tired of hearing people bitch about the Scream series. One of the reasons people are pissed, I think, is because the Scream movies made way for a return to the teen horror genre even though it was poking fun at it. Movies like Urban Legend (okay, talk about seeing the killer coming a mile away!)and I Still Know What Jennifer Love-Hewitt Will Be Doing Next Summer are the terrible consequences of having a good movie made--everyone wants to copy it, but no one can actually do that without turning it into formula. But some of the pros is the movies, Scream in particular, made it possible to return to the smart, thriller horror like The Sixth Sense. I've heard good things about the plot for Scream 3; that it goes away from formula, that it has an excellent second writer attatched, and that it has great cameos. I have my suspicions about them pushing back the date, though...something's wrong...something's very wrong.

Why is everyone bitching about Scream 3?
I personally can't wait for it, and it'n not as it there have been bad trailers or anything of it released yet, so how do you know the movie will be so crap ?
And I am a huge Scream fan, but can someone please tell me who the fuck is Jay and Silent Bob who have appearently filmed a cameo ? -
I totally agree. Scream was a fucking great movie. But I also remember thinking when I saw it. Please don't make more in this series of film. That's not because I hate horror films. There's a lot of great screamers out there and, of course, a lot of crap. But I think the thing about sequels are horrible. I hate when movies are being made on the succes on another movie (and that happens way to often). In my mind there's only three sequels that wasn't a waste of time. "Aliens", "Terminator "" (and no I don't have a hard on for Cameron- get it, anyone ??),
and "The Godfather -part II". -
before anyone starts to give me a hard time. "Terminator 2" of course. There's a thing called typing errors you know.

See...I liked Scream, when it came out I was dragged to the theater, because I didn't like horror movies. Scream, however, was different, a self-reflexive horror film. Unfortunately, Scream 2 lacked the panache of the original. Whereas everyone was guessing who the killer in 1 was (and it was fairly hard o tell), in 2 it was too easy to guess the "main" killer and impossible to guess the accomplice. Instead of wondering who was the killer, I gave up. No one was given enough clues to guess competently. Scream 3 will probally suffer the same fate: ANOTHER self-reflexive horror film that's no longer fresh but formulaic.

I do agree with you about Neve - how did she ever get into acting !
But Jennifer Love Hewit is even worse
I just hope that this IS the last Scream film, I know Dimension have the rights to use the titles Scream 4, 5 and 6, but lets just hope they realise that the story is over, (well, lets hope that the stroy is over, and leaves no loose ends)

From what I know, there has been no offical word on any of these being in the cast, and wasn't Patrick Dempsey supposed to be in it (or was that rumor false ?)

Plus, if it is Jan 7th it will be one of the first movies of 2000, so the new milennium WILL start with a scr3am !!! -
Since the new millennium starts January 1, 2001, apparently the release of Scr Three Am has been delayed yet again. But all the morons that only have nine fingers can go see this pi3ce of shit while telling themselves that not only can they count better than the Royal Greenwich Observatory and the U.S. Naval Observatory, but that they can also recognize a quality film.

And believe me, if they could have possibly made their Dec 10 date, they would have. The date is wide open for a film like this since all the adult stuff is herded around Christmas. They have replaced Scream on Dec 10 with the Ben Affleck thriller REINDEER GAMES.

I also cant wait to see this movie. Most of you talk backers who loathe the release of this movie i'm sure are the same one's who loved the first two. Your just turned off to it due to the idiotic follow ups, such as urban legend, the faculty, i still know what you did last summer,etc... Scream is the only smart and witty teen horror movie. Personally, i thought the writing in the second movie was better than the first but the ending totally dissapointed me. If the movie is close to anything D.Vader expalins above, well fuck, now that it has been moved back, i'm sure i'll go see it in the theatres. I only say this because there are going to be too many other films in December to see.

There were 3 movies that I have been waiting for with great anticipation this holiday season. Man on the Moon, Dogma, and Scream 3. Aside from the fact that the first two Scream films were among the best written films in recent years the news that Jay and Bob would be appearing has made it even more difficult to wait for it. Now it's being pushed to VALENTINES DAY?? This really sucks! Oh well. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. Aside from that SHOCKER crap back in '88 Wes Craven usually doesnt let you down. (oh wait, forgot the Vampire in Brooklyn)

You all know they always PLANNED on having three "Scream" films, right? You haven't been in the dark all this time? Ever since Scream came out it was said there were plans for 2 more. And I for one am glad.
If you don't want to see it, don't show up. I just wish they hadn't pushed it back because I want to see it. Not because I want to get it over with. See you opening night....or maybe not. -
Not to invite any bad karma or anything, but am I the only person hoping that WASTELAND and SCREAM 3 will spend a merciful end to the Kevin Williamson Experience, just as BABY'S DAY OUT and ONLY THE LONELY were the pitiful death screams of the John Hughes Era? And--oh let me dream--maybe it'll be the beginning of the end of the Teen Reign of Terror that is slaughtering American movies right now like one of Kev's lame-o WB-sitcom stars wielding a butcher knife!

I was really mad & disappointed yesterday with the news of the push back of the release. But I can wait. I don't see what competition they were talking about in Dec., but hey. As for the Scream 3 cast here is what it is confirmed as: Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Parker Posey, Liev Schrieber, Kate Hudson, Deon Richmond, Lance Henriksen, Patrick Dempsey, Jenny McCarthy, Carrie Fisher (cameo), the Silent Bob & Jay (Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes) in cameos. That's all that I know. There was one more actress, either Kelly Rutherford from Melrose Place or Jennie Garth from 90210. Cuz they said that kelly from Melrose place is in it, but there was no character named kelly on that show but the actress kelly rutherford was. but there is a Kelly on 90210, so that might of been what they meant. Others still unconfirmed: Eliza Dushku, Shannon Doherty, and Roger Corman.

If Scream 3 was supposed to be coming out in 2 months or so, why haven't we seen the trailer? I mean, there should of been at LEAST a teaser.

I am really bummed that they are not going to release this in Dec, but I think that is a good thing, It will give Wes a chance to really make the movie kick ass, after all he has to live up to alot of expectations, being it the last in the trilogy! I think It is going to be a blast and opening it on Feb 4th is smart, Everyone will have been recovered from the hangovers on New Years eve and all the great movies in Nov and Dec...there will be shit out at the time so when Scream 3 opens believe me Everyone will go see it, including the people that are bitching about it sucking. trust me you will be there!!! Whether full price or matinee, yep after the trailer hits, everyone will anticipate Scream 3, I am really curious to see THE BIG BANG, how it will end and the inside jokes about Hollywood, Most of all I am very anxious to see Parker Posey in all her full glory BITCHINESS giving us Fever, SCREAM FUCKING FEVER!!! HEr and Courtney suck David's Cox are gonna duke it out in the battle of the bitches you'll see, and as for neve, I hope she doesn't die but becomes a vegtable.
