Official trailer for SPLICE hits the nets!
Hey folks, Harry here with my fave trailer release of the day - SPLICE from the director of CUBE - Vincenzo Natali... and being sold as from Producer Guillermo Del Toro - is a film I've been dying to see for quite some time. Right now it is hovering around an 8.2 rating from 212 viewers on IMDB... which is pretty damn good - given the limited places it has been able to be seen from. Check out the theatrical trailer below... it completely sells you the concept, glimpses and it feels awesome, right?

But Natali hasn't disappointed me yet, so the movie still stays on my must-watch-list.

It feels like this movie has been gestating forever. I thought Cube was interesting, but not nearly deserving of all the plaudits and fandom it got. Unless Splice gets stellar reviews I'll only check it out on DVD.

and this trailer looked great until the last moment when it seems like the film will descend in to your average stalk and chase sci-fi actioner. However Natali is apparently directing the adaptation of High Rise, so I'm eager to see Splice and gage whether he's the man to take on Ballard.

I'm sure I saw a picture of her an age ago. I loved Cube - and this could be good, though the trailer isn't all that inspiring (never means a thing really). I wonder though if it's going to be like Species...

Nothing wrong with that. If you're going to borrow, borrow from the best. But I'm also getting a real "Species" vibe about this. And Species also had cred actors (Ben Kingsley) but even they couldn't save it.

and did not find the time for a aicn review. It's some kind of a mess, as it is sometimes played as farce, then as drama and obvioisly can't decide what it is. And the comparisons with Species are more than justified, although in this movie it's more about the young Species in the beginning. Sfx are nice, but the monsterbaby has some resemblance to a walking Penis, so it should be controversal in the USA anyway (always good for promotion...) :)

but from everything I've read that's only a part of what it is. Knowing Natali's films I'm sure there a lot more to it than that trailer is advertising. At least that's what I hope.

Really? Haha, I know Del Toro has a soft spot for Frankenstein, but that line was a little TOO obvious - and yes, I am aware it wasn't uttered in the original story. I think it looks fairly good; I love the concept of a "modern" Frankenstein. And the creature looks pretty intense.

The setup looks creepy, the acting convincing, though I'm with others who are a little tired of the "science is evil" stance. Maybe this film will bring something new to the table.
I like Natali as a director. He's pretty solid visually and story-wise. Plus he takes chances, which I respect. His chapter in "Paris, Je'taime" was the most memorable of all the film's stories.
I'm hoping "Splice" kicks my ass when I see it in the theater. -
