Ain't It Cool News (

I am – Hercules!!
Inspired by the critics' best-of-2009 lists, I’m experimenting again, this time with a list of theatrical features I think may be new to cable in April. (If I’m missing anything, be sure to point it out. I’m particularly keen not to miss the documentaries and indie films when they roll around. Did I miss “Brothers Bloom”? What about “Drag Me To Hell”?) I threw in the scores from the top critics at Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic to help sort out movies viewers might be keen to pursue. I’ve arranged the titles chronologically by cable premiere date to make it most useful to people with DVRs:

State of Play Was Actually Pretty Good

    by Crow3711

Not as good as the original BBC series, but really quite enjoyable. Looking forward to watching that one again. <p> Also, surprisingly, looking forward to watching QoS again. I was so underwhelmed when seeing in theaters, and never wanted to actually pay any real money to see it again or go out of my way to rent it. Been waiting to see when it would show up on Showtime or whatever, and now it is. Maybe I'll think its a little less stupid on this second go-round. Probably not though.

    Very nice new feature Herc

    by zillabeast

Although...and this may be asking a bit much...listing the premieres of new movies on Basic Cable channels would be kinda cool too.

Any excuse for another article of Amazon links, ehh?

    by Rhuragh

Like we don't get enough of these already. I'm calling it: this gets a week or two at max before Herc shuts down the comments on these too.

    by Judge Briggs

most disappointing fucking movie in 2009. fuck you McG... that movie could have been EPIC- but some how you fucked that up! HOW?

state of play was good up till the end..

    by emeraldboy

which was utterly disasterous and completely ruined the film for me. T4's story was bar the beginning was utter incomprehensible rubbish. meryl streep was the best thing about julie and julia. amy adams is cute as a button but the stuff about julie powell's blogging was uninteresting and should have been axed. meryl over sandra. meryl's was a great performance. oscar worthy absolutely.

Kind of a lackluster new feature Herc...

    by qweruiop

...I like your recommendations but it does feel like another quick way to pimp out more up-to-8%-commission links. At least try and add something beyond some quick digits from Rotten Tomatoes. Do it like Harry does, where he writes in a little blurb on his thoughts of each movie. This is why I also don't find your Tuesday DVD/Blu-Ray "article" all that interesting too. A description of one or two titles, then 1000 links (many of them repeats no less). You gotta add at least some depth to these articles Herc if you want to have repeat viewings.

"terminator" + "premiere date" = me excited for a second

    by WickedJacob

I knew SCC was cancelled, but it was still what my mind went to. This feature is not needed and seems just another excuse for an article filled with amazon links.

    Sam Rockwell in Moon

    by SmokingRobot

Amazing performance. He's a terrific actor.

  • April 2, 2010, 6:14 a.m. CST

Just watched the Rockwell double feature recently

    by Spifftacular Squirrel Girl

Gentlemen Bronco's followed by Moon. I did end up liking Bronco a little more than I thought I would but really loved Moon. Really looking forward to seeing more films from Duncan Jones now.
