Louis Leterrier "Circling" Y THE LAST MAN!

Beaks here...

The scoop-happy bastards at Latino Review are reporting that CLASH OF THE TITANS' Louis Leterrier has expressed an interest in directing New Line's long-in-gestation adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn's Y: THE LAST MAN. This is... interesting. I sure wish I would've known this before I interviewed Leterrier last week, because I'd love to know how the the action specialist plans to handle material that's a little headier than anything he's taken on before. I'm not saying he doesn't have it in him to do justice by Vaughn's graphic novel; it's just that I can't imagine what a Leterrier-directed version of Y: THE LAST MAN would look like. According to Latino Review's source, there's a difference of opinion between New Line Chairman Toby Emmerich and the President Richard Brenner as to how they should approach Y: THE LAST MAN: basically, the former doesn't get the property, while the latter does. This is just one anonymous dude's opinion, but the source seems to think that Leterrier sniffing around will give Brenner leverage to find a more suitable director for the project - i.e. Pitof. Regardless of who directs, I hope they'll rewrite the script that was floating around a couple of years ago, because it didn't come close to doing the graphic novel (at least, what I've read of it) justice.
