Summer Glau Lands Lead In NBC Superhero Pilot THE CAPE!!
I am – Hercules!!
Sci-fi icon Summer Glau (“Firefly,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” “Dollhouse”) will play a crime-solving blogger who follows the exploits of supervillains in NBC’s pilot “The Cape.”
The pilot, written by Thomas Wheeler (possibly the author of the 2005 novel "The Arcanum"
?), centers on a framed-for-murder ex-cop (David Lyons) who becomes a costumed crimefighter to clear his name. As with the movie “Kick-Ass,” nobody has any superpowers.
Bleeding Cool’s review of “The Cape’s” script makes it sound even worse than NBC’s “Heroes,” if that’s possible.

Simply because a lot of tv shows take a while to hit their stride. Seinfeld sucked for the first season (well sucked is strong but it wasn't that great) but is now considered legendary. I'm no big fan of Glau and don't even find her all that sexy but this sounds a lot better than Heroes.

Bleeding Cool's review of The Cape was very positive yet you somehow twist a positive review for a completely different show into yet another Heroes slam. That must be really sad to be so obsessed with something you hate.

Just give Heroes it's final season with costumes instead...

Now that whole the world knows about them it makes sense to ditch the X-men stuff and do a dark riff on "popular" heroes like the FF and the Avengers. Who doesn't want to see Hayden P and Ally Larter in spandex? Plus you could make Sylar their worlds answer to Superman only all the other heroes know his past are waiting for the other shoe to drop when he starts killing people again.

Yes, herc is a world class, snide, douchebag. He goes out of his way to be an asshole, for no good reason. HOWEVER, Heroes is an insult to the genre of superheroes, and Tim Kring is ever bit as big of a douche as Herc is--he seems to hate the fact that he's associated with a superhero property and decides to blatantly rip off what he considers to be mroe high brow viewing (case in point: blatant ripoff of the fly) when he could SUBTLY rip off the endless well of material found in comic books. Heroes is awful because it goes out of its way to not do what comics do... the problem is that comics do it SOOOO much better. And its bullshit how we are led to beleive that there will be climactic superhero battles yet time and again it cuts away to a shot of a door with light beaming out of it. It makes promises it doesn't keep, and good storytellers just don't do that. I heard a few people say it got better this season, so i gave it a chance. I was immediately greeted with a shameless ripoff of Carnivale (i guess mroe high brow material to rip off... except they left out everything awesome from carnivale) and then I get to the point where Hiro and Ando have a superhero business!?!?! WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK! That was the final straw for me. I was DONE. Season one made the promise that Hiro would turn bad ass and awesome. Instead, they have made his character quite possibly the most incredibly stupid character EVER. FUCK HEROES. FUCK KRING. FUCK HERC.

Heroes didn't work, becouse they tried to obey some wierd "no flights no tights" rule. instead of putting them in costumes. It's supposed to be the "real world", but in our world every second powred asshole would put on spandex, and show off his powers just for the hell of it. Comic book type show only succeed when they accept the absurdity of the concept. Smallville works now, since they have silly costumes and campy speeches. Supernatural works, when they treat it like an actual Third Testament - a comic booky spin at Revelations. 24 only works these days, when the bad guys have some ridiculous doomsday weapon (virus, nuclear bombs, etc.) I'm glad they're not holding back with this one.

I was turned off by the descriptions of the characters and plot and by this:
"the dialogue is fairly dumbed down, there’s a potential blandness in a number of supporting characters, and even the “freaks” are fairly well-adjusted freaks. TV superheroes can be a real pain to pull off convincingly, and some of the effects look a little overbudget for this kind of thing."
Doesn't sound like a party to me. What passage convinces you the reviewer liked it? -

I would hope/assume the reason a Graves obit hasn't appeared yet is that...he wasn't some behind-the-scenes schmoe (no offense to behind the scenes schmoes) This was PETER GRAVES--MR. That show had sooooo much potential, but let it all waste away with trying to like Lost. Every charactor is related, had a connection or a dark secret that has yet to be reveiled.
At the end of season one...I lost faith and watched a few in season 2 and 3...but what's the point. -
