James Marsters To Play FIVE-0’s New Wo Fat??

Published at:  Mar 14, 2010 2:03:05 PM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

A Facebook page says James Marsters, famous in sci-fi TV circles for his work on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Angel,” “Smallville” and “Caprica,” will star in CBS’ “Hawaii Five-0” pilot as a key antagonist of island top cop Steve McGarrett.

Can the page be trusted? Who would bother to make something like that up?

Casting agents were looking for a thirtysomething actor to play international arms dealer and human trafficker Victor Hesse, who (SPOILER) becomes McGarrett’s archnemesis when he kidnaps and executes McGarrett’s father.

It was described as a “recurring” role, so maybe we’re looking at the series’ new Wo Fat?

Thanks to Buffy Bash vet Kim for the heads up!

According to IMDB Marsters is 47

Unless they're going with the "Looks thirtysomething if you're just waking up from a nap" criteria, it ain't Marsters.

    Isn't Marsters on Caprica?

    by johnnyangel

I guess he can do both since they're not starring roles.

Marsters has been able to fudge his age

    by v'shael

for some time now. Even in his Spike days, there were many fans (especially young female ones) who could not be convinced of his real age.

    Marsters is only an asset...

    by mr. murdoch

to *anything* he's in. This guy is genre quality personified. Perhaps not quite big-screen material, but he lights up (or rather, darkens) and gives more depth and interest to anything he stars in. He's good.

    So funny

I am also a Buffy geek, so I'm thrilled Marsters is having continued success. However, other than Buffy die-hards, who would possibly care about this or even know who James Marsters is?

I'm not a Buffy geek, never seen a lot of the series, actually, and I know perfectly well who Marsters is (later enhanced by 'Smallville'). I think there are more like me out there than you realize.

He was on Torchwood as well.

    by zod_

I guess he gets around. I was a big fan of Angel.... I think he was party of the reason the last season of Angel was the best, I might give this show a shot. He was decent as Braniac on Smallville as well.
