MIDNIGHT COWBOY’s Jon Voight To Play MIDLAND Cowboy In New Fox Pilot!!

Published at:  Mar 12, 2010 8:39:14 AM CST

I am – Hercules

Dustin Hoffman just signed up for his first potential regular TV role, in the HBO horseracing drama pilot “Luck,” and now his “Midnight Cowboy” co-star Jon Voight has done essentially the same thing, signing on to the Fox pilot “Midland.”

Created by screenwriter Kyle Killen (the upcoming Mel Gibson-Jodie Foster feature “The Beaver”), “Midland” follows a West Texas conman with two wives (“Friday Night Lights’” Adrianne Palicki and “Crash’s” Eloise Mumford) in two different towns. Voight would play the Palicki character’s father, described as a “Texas legend.”

(Coincidentally or not, Palicki's "Friday Night Lights" is set in fictional Dillon, Texas, not far from Midland.)

While this would be Voight’s first role as a series regular, he had the recurring role of Jonas Hodges on “24” last season and played three different characters on three episodes of “Gunsmoke” in the late 1960s.

And just the thought of this series is making me cringe already. I can't wait to see how backwoods and countrified we are here so the rest of the country can see it too! Hoo wee! Jesus...

It would be a miracle if the characters aren't cliche'd west Texans. I just hope their "Midland" isn't hilly and heavily forested!

    Talk about your glazed hams....

    by chromedome

Seriously, could he have overacted and hammed it up any more in 24? Don't think so.This does not make the series look appealing, just a little greasy. On the other hand, I just got a craving for bacon.
