Learn Which FIREFLY Veteran Plays Dennis Becker In NBC’s New THE ROCKFORD FILES Pilot!! Hint: Not Summer Glau!!
I am – Hercules
Alan Tudyk (“Dodgeball,” “I, Robot,” “Serenity,” “Knocked Up,” “3:10 To Yuma,” “V,” “Dollhouse”) will play Jim Rockford’s pal, LAPD sergeant Dennis Becker, in the “Rockford Files” pilot overseen by “House” creator David Shore. Joe Santos played Becker in the original.
Dermot Mulroney (“Zodiac,” “Burn After Reading”) will play the titular ex-con private investigator. Still to be cast are Jim’s dad Rocky and ne’er-do-well associate Angel Martin.

The dude is watchable, will check it out for him.
-
But not through the links above, sorry man... I already had the movie, but still, long live Toilet Girl!
-
How has this not happened yet? I'm surprised even a CW cheapie like Smallville or Supernatural hasn't picked her up just for the name.
-
It's sad that more people recognize him from that bank robbery commercial than anything else.
He's always good though and his death in serenity was rather pointless. -
Alan Tudyk is awesome in anything, especially if he gets to mix the serious with the funny (sorry, V!). Used to watch Rockford Files a little with my parents as a kid, wasn't really interested in a remake. Now I'm sold. Then just do a Castle/Chuck/Rockford Files crossover, and it'd be an awesome reunion of the Firefly alpha males!
-
Please no more Reboots, remakes, and reimagine. Whilst some are worthwhile like BSG and 'V'.
Why not come up with something original for creative sake! Do we need to see everything being remade? Please come up with something original, something refreshing, something not done before. That is creative concepts and original ideas. Please. -
He should play it in Steve the Pirate mode.
-
that Tudyk would have been a good Rockford?
-
Nope, you're not the only one. Mark my words, it's the mistake that will kill the show. I hate to be pessimistic, and I hope I'm wrong, but Tudyk is far more interesting than ChickFlick Mulroney. IMHO. Prove me wrong, RomCom Mulroney!!
-
...there should NOT BE ANY FRAKKIN REMAKE OF ROCKFORD AT ALL.NBC is really made up of some lame, lazy ass people to be putting Leno "back" and then remaking stuff instead of CREATING SOMETHING ORIGINAL.
-
and Paul Bettany. Just re-watched that the other day. It's still silly, but still not a terrible movie. And it's still got Shannyn Sossamon in it. : )
-
Seems like a good role for this guy. The show will be cancelled right away, but he will make the most of it.
-
The original series had pitch-perfect casting and so far, this new version is a complete yawner.
They need to knock this out of the park with the Angel Martin part. Is it too much to hope for Sam Rockwell? -
The original Rockford Files still holds up well. If you simply MUST redo a classic TV detective drama, how about Magnum PI or Simon & Simon?
Just leave Riptide alone. There is only one Roboz. -
... must not have gotten a green light? :(
-
and the Five-O remake.
They must be wearing me down, The Remakers, converting me into one of their . . . creatures. -
...be too obvious?
I know he's 81 now, but still... -
But that doesn't mean this isn't a disaster waiting to happen. In fact, give the series a chance and cast Tudyk as Rockford.
-
Or better yet, Noah Beery, Sr.!
-
He was killed off way too soon in the new V.
-
Son of bitch!
-
Garner played Brett Maverick's father in that feature film adaptation.
-
right?
-
Damn You Joss Whedon.
-
His best role. Him w/ Viggio @ Sandra!!!
-
Can't wait to see Tudyk in this little horror comedy that premiered at Sundance.

but please, stop the remakes.
-
surprised Herc hasn't posted that the dvd and blu-ray box sets are going on sale on amazon later today.
-
Wow, it's like some of you never got the fuck out of highschool.
-
In just under 7 hours, I'll be getting that Blu-Ray at a pretty decent price.
-
May be a bit stunt casty and may distract. Let it be known Mr Garner is a mans man and uber cool!
-
His character never should have been killed off in Serenity. I loved his character in the Firefly series/Serenity movie. He s a good actor who should get more roles. Does this mean his role on V is coming to an end? Or is that series already being canceled before new episodes begin to air?
-
*LOL* The other guy in that commercial was in The West Wing and is now in Psych. IMO DirectTV got some good actors for that commercial.
But yeah, Alan Tudyk = good. Did you see him in Dollhouse? Freakin' awesome. He was also in the original Death at a Funeral (it's sad that I ALREADY have to qualify it with "original" since it only came out a few years ago) and rocked that one as well. -
Yes. He needs to be in something. NOW.
-
As Jim Rockford??? Th' F**CK??? Why am I getting a "Stuart Townsend as Kolchak" vibe from this news?
-
Just one of the things that should happen before the earth is destroyed in 2012.
-
New Superhero Drama THE CAPE Pilot!! Hint: Not Alan Tudyk!!

A minute late is like a week old on the internets
-
Thomas jane woulda been so perfect as Jim Rockford.
-
I like the way you think.
Only a Beery can be Joseph "Rocky" Rockford. -
Kristen Bell- and she is a better dancer
-
I guess that means I'm in.
-
Or Cheech Marin. And cast Brian Dennehy as Rockford's dad.
-
This means as much as a I hate the casting of Jim I will now HAVE to watch this because I loves me some Tudyk any way I can get him.
-
So, who could play the senior Mr. Rockford? Judd Hirsch is looking for work since Numb3rs folded. Ditto Ted Levine (Stottlemeyer on Monk). If Parenthood gets an early cancellation, Craig T. Nelson would be terrific, as would Dabney Coleman, Seymour Cassell or Wilford Brimley. Christopher Lloyd or Tom Selleck (who played Lance White on a couple of episodes of the original series) would each bring an interesting dimension to the role. Or how about Burt Reynolds? The possibilities are endless.
