Ollie's WALL STREET: MONEY NEVER SLEEP is now headed to September...
Hey folks, Harry here - sorry these stories weren't posted earlier, but Yoko had grabbed me to take her shopping, and I've spent way way waaaaay too much time in places like XXI FOREVER (which had a stunningly beautiful check out lady that could work in film, the camera would worship her), the GAP, NORDSTROMS, etc... My brain is a tad mushy - but hey, I got a killer ridiculous hat by Robert Graham to wear throughout SXSW... so it is all good.
Speaking of Film Festivals - fucking CANNES is causing Fox to move Oliver Stone's WALL STREET: MONEY NEVER SLEEPS to move from right around the corner in April - to fucking September 24th. That said - it makes sense. If the film is fucking tremendous, and all reports I've heard seems to indicate that the film could be brilliant (yes, with Shia, who rules btw) - a strong performance at CANNES - which very rarely is a sure bet for good buzz - as the critics largely seem to be stuffy and way too serious - but if it were to blow folks away - this would be the PULP FICTION release scheme.
Well - that's nice and all - but I was so looking forward to seeing this BEFORE the Summer hit, not after it is over. Que sera sera...

...I hope it's being pushed because of Cannes. Still.
-
Mid-September is a better release date. Now it won't be trampled by the BDSM (big dumb summer movies)!.
-
Mr Lover...Mr Loverman...hey u know u wann suck Shia's banana under the coconunt tree!!!!!
-
how's he gonna make wall street look? Why do you think they moved the film down to September....more editing me thinks!
-
FYI HARRY

Bunk bed buddies....dynamic duo....Bikini & briefs...
-
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.......ha!......er.......lol!
-
Good move. September means more attention can be made towards it instead of it getting over run by summer movies. Shia sucks ass though.
-
...is due to some cgi removal of Shia. Oh shit, what was I thinking, it's delayed cause they're gonna 3D it!
-
i cant stand the fucking twat he fucked transformers and I Jones and just about everythin else he is in. This movie will b a pale imitation of the briliant original nothing else. I was hoping the rest of the case could be reworked into a sequel but instead we end up with this shite
-
Makes sense to me. Douglas (and Gekko in particular) is bankable worldwide. Why not use Cannes to springboard the return of that character? Besides, it's the kind of film that will make perfect post-summer blockbuster tonic.

1. Indiana Jones
2, Transformers
3. Wall Street
4. Home Alone 6
5. War Games 2
6. Back to the Future 4
7. Godfather 4
8. Star Wars 7
9. Grease 3
10.SPiderman 4

That makes it sound as if every article gets posted, and this was something out of the norm. Lies. AICN posts about 10% of the interesting stories that float around out there...I doubt anyone was even expecting these to show up.
How are you gonna flood the main page with screening BS and "Remember Me" reviews, but skip over the countless headlines that by in large ARE the reason people come here. Baffling. -
ALL IN FAVOUR SAY 'SHAZAM SHIA'
-
COS HE NEEDS TO GO BACK THERE!
-
...for a sequel. Even with the state of our economy and the dirtiness of those who ran it into the ground. For some reason, Wall Street 2, just comes off cheesy to me. And as I've stated many times before, zero love for Shia "my hair never moves" LaBouf. It's going to be very hard for me to ever spend money beyond my cable bill for this one.
-
But that's what it is. Just calling it 'Money Never Sleeps' would have been one step better.
-
I would like to think that the studio knows that it has a good movie on it's hands, when it wants to open it after Labor day. Just in time for it to stick in the minds of the critics for the awards season.
-
checking out the check out lady? We all do it, but to write it on your movie website for all to see seems a tad naïve...
-
...remake...note for note.
-
It will ruin all of our lives. It's like the cotton of evil.
-
The fatties on this forum hate him because he is "charismatic" and "personable," which around here are wholly unwelcome traits. Also, he's popular, and this forum is mostly populated by "I hate everything that anyone else likes, because I'm so smart" types. Read Voltaire.
-
...his hair doesn't move. And I'm not fat. I've never said he's a bad actor, either. I just think he's over-hyped and hasn't really done anything to show me he's a GREAT actor yet. I've said more than once that I really liked the golf movie he was in. And that's sayin' somethin', because it was a GOLF movie!
-
That made me laugh.
-
Fucking September! FUCK!
-
Other than that he sucks the Harriest of balls...
-
...and acting.
-
THE LOSERS looks far more enjoyable than OLD MICHAEL DOUGLAS TAKES LITTLE MUTT WILLIAMS UNDER HIS WING.
-
Shia's best performance was in Even Stevens for Disney Channel. It's all been downhill from there.
Regardless, doesn't this flick reek of desperation from Douglas and Stone: "We're not relevant anymore! How can we cash in on our former glory?!?!?" I have no interest. -
.....
-
I dont want to wait 6 more months!
-
I was really looking forward to this film, but I can understand the reasons for the wait. Release it in April and, come awards season, most have forgotten about it. Wait til September and, if the film holds up, kudos, accolades, 40 days and 40 nights of little golden statues of varying shapes and sizes. Makes perfect sense, just sucks is all.
---
As for Shia, I don't think he's a BAD actor, just a young one that has been in some bad films that made him a lot of money. Yes he was in the two Transformers bastardizations, and Indy 4, but all three of those films had multiple MULTIPLE problems that cannot be laid at the feet of one single solitary person. I will say he needs to lay off the rapid-fire use of the word "No". But the trailers for Money Never Sleeps look good to me and I'll give it a chance. -
"all reports I've heard seems to indicate that the film could be brilliant" - Bwahahaha. And a move to September indicates it's a great film. I bet if they move it again to January 2011, it's a sign that it's going to overtake Avatar in sales and LotR in Oscars!

If STONE used THE SNOWBALL:Warren Buffett and the Business of Life, as a reference for MONEY NEVER SLEEPS
-
For spoiling "Alice in Wonderland" in your review that had NO spoiler tags. I'll never forgive you for that.

the Steve Guttenberg of the 21st century
-
I am asking because the last two Oliver Stone movie were rated PG-13. Never would have thought Stone would compromise himself.I will NOT see this film if it is PG-13...fuck that watered down shit.
-
Disturbia anyone? Eagle Eye? Need I mention how Shia swooped in and dusted the cobwebs off the teetering carcass that was the Indy series?? You fanboys don't know an up and comer when you see one. Jealousy is a bitter wine my friends.
-
Jay Leno is a great television host, Sheri Shepard is absolutely right about the earth being flat, the Nightmare on Elm Street remake is going to go down in horror movie history, James Cameron is going to make a good movie again, Nolan will make both(?!?!?) another Batman and Superman movie which will both be great, Mickey Rourke will have a new successful career, Tron 2 is gonna have the same following the first one did... ah fuck it. Shia is the new Clark Gable/Jimmy Stewart/ Harrison Ford/ Eric Roberts/ Mel Gibson rolled into one insanely charming and winning package. That's the point.
-
I was looking forward to it. That is way to far off. Boo! ...and what is XXI Forever not an umm adult shop is it???
-
Vote what fucking shit movie review I will write this weekend now
-
was she umm stimulating the economy Harry??... Ahem! Sorry couldn't resist that cheap gag
-
"Say 'ello to da living dead, you WHORES!"
-
nothing else.Close this and laugh at the subject.
-
Although I still don't like the giant mobile phone joke in the trailer. To my thinking, a much better--and subtler--take on that would've been to have someone hand Gordon an iPhone or whatever at some point early in the movie, and have him look at it with a "what the hell is this?" expression on his face. But then again, subtlety isn't exactly Oliver Stone's forte. The man has made some great films and I'm cautiously quite optimistic about this one.
-
Gekko was in prison, not in a fucking COMA! He has a pretty good handle on the 21st century from papers and TV I'm sure. Sorry the old Motorola "Brick" is so unsettling to so many, I got a chuckle out of it.
-
...that David Duchovny invented the giant '80s era cellphone gag almost 13 years ago in an episode of Cellphone: the TV Show...I mean The X-Files.
-
no reason to think otherwise at this point...hope springs eternal
-
I wouldn't say it's "unsettling." And I'm one guy, unless there are others harping on that point that I haven't seen. It just didn't work for me. If it works for you, enjoy with my compliments.
-
I did like the preview shot when Gordon steps out of the prison gate, a stretch limo pulls up, and some rapper passes by and climbs inside. Thought that was one "the world has changed" riff well-played by Mr. Stone.
-
..once got me banned from here. GO FUCKING DIE HARRY YOU FAT BASTARD.
-
Sorry but the guy lacks credibility. What is he going to say when his stocks go down? "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!"
-
They acted together on the Disney Channel back in the day. He said Shia is a tight wad jew, alcoholic, drug addicted uber-prick. That he is wasted from 9am to 9pm and still drives the red Nissan Maxima he owned back in the day, wont spend a dime of his $30 million he has in the bank.
-
For some bizarre reason, it starts just like the fuckin' Blues Brothers. Then Gordon Gecko says one of teh dumbest things I've ever heard onscreen: "I once said greed is good. Now it apears to be legal."Hey douchbag, when was greed ever NOT LEGAL?
-
"HULK MAKE MONEY SLEEP!"
-
"Oh shit I feel asleep",says money.
-
Shita...oops i meant shia LaPuff...anyway Shita can't act for shit. Maybe he's being groomed for the next President which is why he is being force fed to audiences????????????

Basically it was a fix. Goldman Sachs and others knew the government wouldnt let AIG die so they insured all the crap worthless securities they could knowing they would get paid once they tanked. And the rest is billion dollar taxpayers history. -
Gordon Gekko went to jail, essentially, for being greedy. So in his eyes, it seems that greed was illegal. After a twenty-something year stint in the can, I can see him saying something like that. Just IMO.
-
...and remove that unnecessary and ugly "Wall Street" from the beginning of it. "Money Never Sleeps" is just fine as a title. The "Wall Street" at the beginning makes it sound like a DTV piece of shit.
