The Kid From ALMOST FAMOUS Joins ABC's WRIGHT VS. WRONG!!

Published at:  Mar 08, 2010 9:59:29 AM CST

Merrick here...

Patrick Fugit - aka "the kid in ALMOST FAMOUS - will join Debra Messing ("Grace" from WILL & GRACE) in the ABC pilot WRIGHT VS. WRONG. Evident;y he's playing another writer.

"Wrong" centers on Evelyn Wright (Messing), a driven conservative pundit who tries to maintain her public persona despite facing her own vulnerabilities. In his first regular TV gig, Fugit is set to play her contributing writer, a liberal NYU graduate.

...says THR HERE.

This pilot is an interesting move for Fugit, who was very perfect in Cameron Crowe's roundly excellent ALMOST FAMOUS,. He's been visible since that film (a guest stint on E.R., an appearance on HOUSE, along with a few other roles) but he's kept a considerably lower profile than, for example, Messing. Jumping into a series...provided this gets actually picked up...would do a lot towards pushing him further into the mainstream spotlight.

You can find more about Patrick's band, Mushman, HERE.

I would say his best acting ability is taking notes with his eyes. Surprised he's not a cop.

    that's a great scene

    by mynamesdan

but without the fat man, there would just be five minutes of Patrick Fugit's mouth bobbing open and shut like an adolescent goldfish.

...in the typical mode of Hollywood as the right thinking conservative is shown the error of her ways by the hero young liberal. Way to stretch those writing muscles Hollyweird.

A kid just graduating from Boston U who just so happens to leapfrog tens of thousands of capable broadcasting graduates and assures it really, really has nothing to do with legacy and nepotism.

    Debra Messing was hot...

    by vikkimarsdale

in Prey; a vampire TV series a decade ahead of it's time. She was Stacey in "Ned &", Grace in "Will &", Mary Magdelene in "Jesus". now she's Wright in "Vs. Wrong"; at last she finally gets top billing (that joke doesn't actually work; she was Starter Wife in Stater wife, so she already got top billing)Debra Messing gets a new series and everyone here is talking about "some guy who was in some movie"? Just askin'.Debra is kinda false advertising, though. More like A-bra. Get it; it's a disparaging comment about her compact breast size. Ooh, they're the size of compacts; that was another one.

he should play young Jeffery Dahmer

    by bullet_time_facehugger

Since he usually looks like a serious killer in most of his roles.

Fugit also in Wristcutters: A Love Story

    by jaka

Which strangely, I just watched today. Followed by wondering what he's doing now. Followed by coming here and discovering this article. Love it when shit like that happens. Anyway, Wristcutters is a completely strange, but totally wonderful little indy film that I thoroughly enjoyed. I see now that somebody else mentioned it above, but I'm not sure what they said yet. I highly recommend it, but don't want to spoil it at all because it sounds really depressing, but it's actually just completely surreal and strange. Plus, it's got Shannyn Sossamon in it and I have a crush on her. Heh.

OK, I with what the above poster said

    by jaka

The movie wasn't that "great", but it is good. And it's the kind of thing that would never be made by a major studio or get a big advertising push. I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
