UPDATED WITH WINNER!!‘You Must Send Me A Copy!!’ THE PRISONER Escaped To Herc’s Monday Series Giveaway!!
The winner, if he or she emails me a shipping address within 24 hours, is @theta1138!!

I am – Hercules!!
In celebration of my first decade overseeing Ain’t It Cool’s TV section, we are giving away TV box sets every Monday.
All you have to do is:
1) “Follow” me on Twitter.
2) Constantly monitor my Twitter account between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. Pacific Time Monday, March 8. At some point during this window I will post a contest question on my Twitter account. One of the first to correctly answer this question via Twitter AFTER I pose it via Twitter will get his or her own copy of The Prisoner: The Complete Series 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition
IMPORTANT!! To make things a little more difficult this week we’re not going to give the question here. But you’ll know it on my Twitter account because it will begin with “Q.”
IMPORTANT!! Your Twittered answer MUST begin with @hercAICN. Don’t screw this up!
IMPORTANT!! If you answer the question BEFORE I post the question in Twitter you will be automatically disqualified.
IMPORTANT!! This contest is only available to residents of the United States.
IMPORTANT!! If you win, immediately forward Herc your shipping address and phone number: herculesAICN@yahoo.com. If you fail to do so within 24 hours, Herc will assign the prize to another.
Contestants are free to unfollow my Twitter account post-contest, but it might behoove them to remain following for two reasons:
1) I’m not a Twittering fiend. I’ve tweeted fewer than 700 times since I set up the account last April.
2) I’m going to be giving away a lot more supercool prizing via that account in the coming days and weeks. And I may be announcing these contests only on Twitter.

I like that the time has been shortened and that the question won't be asked until it's time.
-
Bummer, another site going all twitter on me. I'm too old and uncool for a twitter account, no one wants to know what I ate for breakfast. Anyway, good luck everyone.
-
To see who is fastest on google and then Twitter. Should be interesting.
-
Something I already have. But good luck to everyone. It's a great series. You're going to love the ride it takes you on.
-
But that's not the point of Twitter. The only people who do that crap now are grandmas, "marketers" and Kutcher. Twitter is real time search and news coupled with social information "pollination". Hey, at least it isn't a term that's been douched up by Web 2.0 UGsperts and wannabe movers and shakers. I like pollination, it fits. Think of a billion little bees with bits of information clinging to their little bee feet. Based on which bees you've decided share your interests, the only pollen you'll see is pollen that's fertilize you. I think I just metaphorked all over my shoes.

Information. Mark my words...

Dude, Hercules, I always thought that was a rumour...
You nasty bitch!!!! -

How could they answer the question before you post it, numbnuts?

I will build a TV army on Twitter!

"..the knee bone is connected to the hip-bone!" The last episode is the MOST ABSURD television show ever aired on t.v. They certainly got caught with there pants down when it came down to explaining everything, and just cobbled together some random nuttiness and laid it out as a last episode.
-
We'll pay the goddamned shipping, you gamma-irradiated leprechaun!
-
we are watching him be psychologically broken via the Degree Absolute process mentioned in the previous episode. And in the end, he did accept that he was a number...as long as that number was Number One. So technically, they did break him to the point of conforming to their system.
-
FUCK twitter.
-
But there were 2 versions of him.WHY?(when he unmasks the guy with the guerrilla mask, and its him!!).The ending made 0 sense. And then, in the end, they let him go, and give him a "purse" with a lot of money.
-
Except the door to his house was a Village automated door with a number over it, indicating either literally or figuratively, he hadn't actually escaped. I'm not sure if you watched the rest of the series, but several of their attempts to break him involved fucking with his mind and making him see/experience things that weren't real. Remember the dinner party episode?
-
about 9-10 FULL Episodes, and watched others half-way. Don't get me wrong, I did ENJOY most of it (especially seeing how much LOST has stolen from this show).I recall the ending well, but honestly dude....it seemed forced and extremely convoluted.I TRULY think they didn't have a plan. The whole theme is a "concept", while delviering very Anti-authoritarian, and anti-establishment motifs(as was popular at that time). The whole idea of an individual versus the whole, and identity.I get ALL that(reminds me of NOWHERE MAN...),but the ending was truly out of whack.
-
It's pretty much a direct allegory to his personal experience of quitting Danger Man at the height of it's popularity, the powers that be were pretty much treating him like the Village runners, demanding answers that he was unwilling to give, trying to label him and put him in a box, etc. And in all honesty, yes the ending is kind of the way it is because he threw it together at the very last minute. I forget the circumstances, but he basically had no writers available, and it was either 'churn out this finale in the next 48 hour or it's not going to happen'.
-
Have I really been coming here longer than you?
-
No chance of the rest of the world getting in on this, Herc? All your competitions seem to be open only to US citizens. There's a whole wide world out there, ya know?
-
Xenophobic twats that they are.
-
just give it to me...ill then send it to my dad for his b-day
-
AICN is apparently so flush with readers/viewers & are multimillionaires from their advertising that both they and their advertisers can send them to other places like Twitter. You know, where there's no content, coherence, or money to be made? It's like saying that a contest is open to Canadian residents only, but to enter you have to show up in Juarez, Mexico. It's idiotic and it's lazy. Only shitty businesspeople direct customers AWAY FROM THEIR SITE.
-
mcgoohan wanted to do 7 epis all 7 were planned out but as no one had yet made a mini series (see, he was a true innovator) he was told that they couldnt sell it, especially to america...so he was forced to expand, which is why some of the epis seem repetitive
-
1) nobody's been coming to AICN longer than me.
2) Our records indicate your first post was Feb. 15, 2010, so if you've really been here since 1996, you hold the AICN record for longest lurk. -
There must have been a mistake somewhere bc none of my old posts disappeared, but I could no longer log in to talkbacks (maybe a result of no longer being able to have TB names with punctuation in them). I talked to some folks (thank you Quint and Roland the techie), and was able to get back into the game. But I was reinstated much earlier than February 15th, so perhaps AICN records are a bit flawed. I've been using D.Vader as my name since the very first AICN message board, which I think started up spring 97, but I started visiting in fall 1996 looking for Star Wars: Special Edition pictures. So, neener neener!
-
Or, well, something weird happened twice where I wasn't able to log in. I think they were mistakes each time.
-
I've only been a member since like last fall, but even I know you've been around a heck of alot longer than this February.
-
it was right around this time:

And welcome to the Madhouse that is the AICN Talkbacks!
-
that I can pull my posts from 2007 but yours are only showing 09-10. I did get one hit from you in 08. Did you post in any famous TB's? WalterB? Horsefucker?
-
Back in 08 I was banned for an unknown reason. I think it was actually a mistake and I was collateral damage. Beaks was having an argument with someone in a talkback and seemed to be threatening a banhammer against that someone who, so far, had been playing it all very civil, asking what happened to someone else who had been banned (the banhammer was falling a LOT during that time). The guy was saying he didn't think the other Banned TB'er said anything that was worth getting banned over, Beaks basically called the guy an idiot for disagreeing with him. I said it looked like Beaks was threatening to ban him too, and Beaks jumped on me and said that it was nothing of the sort. I dunno what happened that night bc I left, but when I returned in the morning, all of my posts and the other guy's posts had disappeared. I can only assume he and Beaks got into it more through the night and someone banned everyone who looked to be fighting. I had a post directed to me by Beaks, so maybe it looked like I had been breaking the "rules". But I'm confident it was a mistake bc I'm confident I didn't do anything to warrant a banning. I contacted Moriarty and he put me right back up a few months later. I didn't participate in the WalterB talkback bc I got there too late. I had either been out of town or away from a computer for awhile. By the time I checked in, the talkback was massive and I had missed all the fun. Same goes for the horsefucker. I've only heard of him in legend, and every once in awhile someone will toss that node # my way and I'll scan through some of that ridiculousness. Depending on how far back you can go, you may see some TBs where pple are addressing me but my posts are nowhere to be found.
-
Nothing like dragging out old memes to celebrate.
Anyway, thanks Herc for giving me the chance to win this series, which I love the holy hell out of, and congratulations on ten years.
Also, since I'm whoring myself out, be sure to follow my Twitter for my wide variety of clever comedy articles which will make you more sexually attractive to the gender of your choice. -
Just googling? And Theta needs to have a beer and cheat on his wife.
-
Shame your old posts got lost :( On that podcast Herc did, I think he said his 10 yr anniversary was in April. The giveaways are a nice way to celebrate it.
-
Congrats dude!
-
I rather like going back in time to read my old stuff. I wish the old AICN Forums at the internet archive, the ones from 98 still worked. But alas, the archive doesn't seem to have any memory of them. I wanted to read what ridiculous things my 15-16 yr old self was posting.
-
Well... not from me, since I was deleted, but there are some pple responding to me in a SCREAM 3 story. That brings back memories!
-
It's mostly always drunk posting & going back to read them is like the "next day walk of shame" for me. I post, then move on. I might stop if I see my name. I might not.
I wonder how far back that search engine will go? Hmmm. -
Since I've never watched Prisoner and thought it better left to the fans, but I read next week will be an all Blu-ray giveaway. I can't wait! I remember telling my mom a couple years ago (she always calls me for advice on new technology) "Huh? Blu-Rays? Ah, ignore them. Buy DVDs. HDTVs, Blu-Rays, it's all bs. Once you start down that road they'll come out with something new and you'll have to upgrade." Since then I've decorated my dive with a big screen HDTV, a modest but enviable Blu-Ray collection, and have acquired an immense appreciation for all things hi-def.

Thought this was going to be crappy prisoner remake, of course I have never watched a full ep of old show either.
-
awesome-Nice lil backstories about Danger man and 7-episodes only.I truly didn't know any of that.At the the time, I agree that the show was certainly "ground-breaking".Killed me they FUCKED UP the remake.

Searched for"By Big Jim" site:aintitcool.comand got 16,600 results. Does that mean I've posted that many times (give or take)? That averages to about 3,000 a year! Holy crap I spend a lot of time here (probably why I have no time for the likes of Twitter, et al)I limited my search to 2003 and came up empty (had been fairly certain I joined in '04 but wasn't 100% sure). Searched 2004 and it looks like this was my first post:http://tinyurl.com/yzu7sgvGuess I was a bit naive regarding the Longest Yard remake. Oh well, live and learn. I then found this post from a few days later after Moriarty had gone off on TBers:http://tinyurl.com/yhszhzwIt brings up Harry's erotic X-Files story contest which I had entered (anything for swag), so I must have been around earlier. Maybe I was just lurking for a while. Hard to remember - 5.5 years was a long time ago.

User's History, it's understandable why he thinks people who've been around for years only joined last month.www.aintitcool.com/userdo that while signed in and it should take you to your history. It is there, click "Edit", you can see the email you have on file with AICN (and change it if need be, I would assume - haven't tried it). You can also "Track" articles in which you've posted. They seem to be sorted by the date they were "updated" (I think that means the last person to post). It also seems, at least for me, it only goes back about 3 years."View" does nothing for me, just refreshes the page. Don't know if that's its purpose or it simply doesn't show what it's supposed to show. Then comes the most baffling thing of all. Apparently, I've been a "Member For" 40 years 11 weeks. Anyone else been a member here decades before the site even existed (and several years before Harry existed)?
-
After checking that link I realized I've been around here longer than I thought, and longer than Google would have me believe. Although I didn't post in that one, I do remember being around here for the end of Buffy.
I still have my email confirmation from when I first joined - October 7, 2003 - so I figured my first post most likely was that day (why sign up unless I had something to say, right?). Using my super search skills I was able to find, no thanks to Google, a post I'd made on October 9th of that year on an Angel article. However, that was 2 days after I'd signed up. So, using all the deductive powers I could muster, I came to the conclusion I must have posted on a story that was dated before the 7th. Lo and behold, I found what I think must have been my very first post:
http://tinyurl.com/y8tdfbm
Yeah, not the most scintillating words of wisdom. Kinda thought my first post would have been something worthy of taking the trouble to finally sign up and chime in. Then again, it was regarding two things I enjoy - TV and baseball. It's strange though that I can't find any posts of mine using Google (the way I did above) from before July 9, 2004. Anyone have any ideas why?
