‘Don’t Wear Feathers In Your Hair At Tribal!!’ SURVIVOR 20.4!!

Published at:  Mar 04, 2010 8:04:41 PM CST

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

“That’s not much of a coach if you ask me!”

A weepy Coach, who in the prologue refused to stop telling his insane stories, has inspired me to stick up a post for tonight’s “Survivor.” Which could use the plug with “American Idol” siphoning off its reality mojo.

He’s the last of the Mohicans AND King Arthur!

And by the end of the reward competition Coach is talking about "The Dragonslayer" again.

"There's no way I can get a clue to the hidden immunity idol and not find it," boasts Russell Hantz, who found more than his share of idols, with and without clues, last season.

But Rob, who never saw Russell play, and never played during a hidden-immunity-idol season, classifies Russell a "bonehead."

Meanwhile, back in heroland, Tom does a terrible job hiding his found idol.

Cirie wants the strong people on her tribe gone.

The reward challenge is the aborted one that nearly killed black Russell last season.

Russell still hasn't found an idol. Producers must have tired of his bloodhound-like acumen last season and taken pains to hide the villains' prize exceptionally well.

Despite Tom's hidden idol, Candace has a great plan to break up the Tom-Colby alliance. Tom's plea to JT and Amanda could turn things around, but Cirie tells Amanda she's nuts to keep strong players like Tom and Colby around.

Why doesn't Probst ask for the hidden immunity idol before he reads the votes?

Nice job of misdirection, producers!! Did NOT see that ending coming!!

Candace votes for Tom
Amanda votes fo Tom
Cirie votes for Tom
Rupert votes for Colby
James votes for Colby
Tom votes for Cirie
Colby votes for Cirie
JT votes for Cirie

    by vin_diggler

Yes it seems dumb to look for the idle, but as Tom proved tonite, even if everyone knows you have it, it still has its benefits. If Russle finds it, then it's a guarantee that he stays until next trial. Who knows, hero's may start winning and there will be plenty of time for Russle to smooth things out. I agree with Russle, anyone who does not look for the idol is a moron.

Where on this website does it state that a talkback must meet a certain standard of coolness, particularly that of a self-styled "disgustin" troll like yourself? Ain't It Cool is simply a signifier for what has come to represent a place where any and all forms of popular entertainment are open for discussion. It is not limited to just genre entertainment or to what anyone in particular might consider to be "cool." Do you understand? If you're not interested in this talkback, then go somewhere else. Coming into a Survivor talkback and taking a blanket dump on reality shows is a good way to get banned. I've been covering reality shows since my first day in the TV section nearly a decade ago. If you don't like it, try to find a site that doesn't cover reality TV. The Internet is a mammoth place; I'm certain you'll find one.

Mind you, I don't mind you critiquing a show you can demonstrate you watch, but being a jerk about one you don't will not wash here.

    Amanda and Parvarti

    by mahasamatman

Amanda is just so appealing in every way: she's tall, somehow curvy but athletic and slim, athletic. She has large but natural seeming breasts (I assume they are not, but they look both natural and perfect). Wide, round eyes that seem innocent but not dumb. Soft, full lips, but not so much that you think collagen injenctions. She wears a vulnerable expression that makes you want to take care of her. The weird thing about her is that she's not stupid, at all, but she is not articulate. She really has trouble communicating, talking about herself in particular. I love everything about her. Parvarti, on the other hand, is skinny-obese (she is skinny, but it is a soft, unathletic skinnym she has no almost no muscle, but also no curves). She has big teeth, squinty eyes, no boobs. She is haughty and arrogant, and the kind of girl that other women hate. I've never spoken with any woman who watched the show that didn't hate her. I hate her, too, and cannnot see the attraction, at all. I think she is ugly and even unpleasant to listen to. She walks around with her mouth half-open a great deal of the time--watch, it's true, she does, she just doesn't close her mouth all the way--and I find that really gross. I don't get it. My brother claims that she is "just one of those women." She has "it," the vibe, flirtiness and the invisible, unspoken promise that sex with her is both likely and incredible, and that this vibe flatters men, somehow, evem when you just look at her on TV... I don't get that vibe.

i disagree. physically, facially, she's hot. but there's something about her personality that really turns me off. its like all she knows is that she's pretty and she has friends, and that's enough for her. she knows she's pretty and along as she has friends she doesn't feel like she needs to do anything more. and when she's confused she has this babyish, confused what do i do thing going on. she's the kind of woman i have no interest in, because she has so little self confidence herself, she gets almost all of it from others. you can see it in her face. the only time she's confident is if she feels like others are backing her up. she's weak.

Now I am starting to go with Amanda (cause she's smokin hot) and Tyson (because he seems to have learned his lesson and is keeping his mouth shut this season) As long as Tyson does not get all cocky again, he has a good shot at making it to the final 3.

since what I believe was it's inception, season 1 of the Real World, and every season since, good or bad, so I'm not close-minded to it. It's just that I tried to watch Survivor when it first started, and in my opinion it's garbarge. Maybe if it wasn't about winning a contest and just people stuck on an island hating each other without being a game show it would be different. But it's not. It's lame, the cast and host are always dreadful, and I'm mad at myself because I didn't start watching LOST until it was halfway through season 2 because I thought the same people making it a hit are the ones that were making Survivor a hit. And Hercules, if you want to be so self-righteous as to ban me for talking shit about Survivor in an AICN talkback, feel free, I'll come back with a new garbage pail kid inspired name and spew much worse hatred all over all your talkbacks, and my projected persona will devovle each time

The idea was that if Tom played the idol they would have three votes for Tom and three votes for Colby and Colby would go. The only thing is that JT flipped and voted for Cirie. Though they don't realize it yet, Rupert and Candace probably got ahead with Cirie gone. She is a master manipulator and by voting her out they lowered the Micronesia 2.0 group numbers. Pavarti is probably the next one to go from the Villians and James or Amanda the next from the Heroes.

    The wicked witch is gone!

    by acappellaman

I've always always ALWAYS HATED Cirie. I'm dumbfounded how she got to be on this show again at all, let alone as a member of the Heroes' tribe. I couldn't be happier that she's gone. My wife and I were at definite odds about this. She wanted to see Tom or Colby go, rather than Cirie because they are such physical threats. Thus the reason I'd be a much better Survivor player than my wife. With SO MUCH physical competition this season - JT, James, Colby, Tom, and that's just rhe physical threats on the Heroes' team! It's a piece of cake to vote off strength when the time comes. Only one can win immunity at a time, so you simply vote one of the others off first. Right now the goal should be to keep your teal strong so you can win challenges. Once the merge approaches, THAT'S the time to get rid of the threats.

On the Villains side, I've always been a fan of Boston Rob. The guy is genius. Russell's a good player, but he's totally underestimating the other people. Rushing out like he did to find the idol was a HUGE mistake. I liked him more last season when his style worked well, since he was playing with such morons. This season he's just overmatched. I don't think he'll be around much longer, unless the Villains keep winning.

Oh, and Amanda?!? I was practically drooling last night. My wife was ooing and aahing over James when he was all slicked up, but I couldn't look past Amanda to even notice. She is by far the hottest Survivor player ever. So gorgeous. And those shots of her all oiled up? Wow!! They really gave us a treat last night. They need to repeat this challenge often. How's next week look?

    JT's a much smarter player ...

    by exie

...than he's given credit for. Watching Cirie manipulate the tribe from afar, he realized he was soon to be next on her chopping block and didn't fit into her strategy which was weak minded and weak skilled players she could control in a block. His only move last night was to go with Tom and Colby because now he's aligned with 2 men who will not lie to him, who are indebted to him and who he can legitimately trust. One of the things Probst said last night was how ridiculous it was to have a large alliance this early in the game. He's right. You can't keep an alliance that large together. However, a 3 person alliance of JT, Tom and Colby could go far in the game together if it's based on real trust. That was a power move by JT and showed way more brains than he's given credit for. He's unassumingly smart. As for Russell's idol chasing ways, I just can't believe he was that greedy that he couldn't control himself. He's a smarter player than that. Instead of realizing the idol would only buy him one more week if found, he should have been working on his standing in the tribe to the point that he didn't need an idol. Now, he has to find that idol just to survive one more week and then pray he keeps finding idols or there's a merge or the teams are shaken up or something. What he doesn't realize is he's a great candidate to take the final 2 by someone like Boston Rob because Russell is so unlikable it would seem to guarantee his opponent the million. By acting like a greedy little slug, he's killing his chances. Still, that guy has 9 lives in Survivor so I'm sure he figures out a way to survive it.

    What a great vote!

    by big jim

They did a great job of subterfuge. You can sometimes tell who will get voted out by how much screentime they get during the episode (especially in the earlier pre-merge episodes). With so much of Coach & the Villains being the focus for the first half last night, I was sure Coach was going home.More often than not, when the vote is pretty much pre-determined and quite obvious, they try to plant seeds of doubt by showing the discussions of alternate plans (like Randy last week). I was fairly certain Candice's plan would be the end result with either Tom or Colby going home. Seeing Cirie's name on that last vote was a very pleasant surprise. They tricked me, and I wouldn't have it any other way."Danielle's rack looked pretty spectacular all oiled up!"I don't remember her from her season. Was she on a season the camps were in the jungle and not on a beach? Because if she'd been wearing a bikini I think I'd remember her.

And Probst *IS* a huge, huge nerd.
He is also a Howard Stern "super-fan" who goes on the show quite a bit AS a fan of the show. Fun to listen to if you like Howard and Survivor.

Bye Bye Cirie..I mean jesus christ, she is out of shape and a huge hindrance in the challenges and yet she always stays until the end because she is black. I can't think of any other reason.

    Cirie

Actually I take back the black comment...she is pretty damn smart and a very good manipulator. Still can't see how the strong people don't see she is horrible at the physical challenges which is 90 percent of them..damn Parvati is hot too, the guy who said she isn't above is off his rocker.

Couldn't agree more. Coach is the heart and soul of a what it means to be a soul survivor. Call him a villian if you must, after the last episode I call him a hero reborn.

The guy has owned every season he's been in. This may be the only season where the jury is made up of smart enough players that they could give it to someone who beat them fair and square, and not just to the coattail riding nothing-burger who coasted to the end (that's you, Vecepia)

Herc, thanks for the weekly Survivor post!

    by anotherboreddude

I feel like we haven't had this for the past few seasons(?), but just wanted to say thanks for the forum to vent frustrations, share excitement, and ask nerdy Survivor questions. Like the following:

Does the mere sight of that completely worthless NYC hipster chick Courtney make anybody else's skin crawl?

And on Fans vs. Favorites, Amanda and Ozzy were obviously together. Anybody know if they are still together?

You just ruined this week's episode with the commercial that just aired during The Amazing Race. Also, fuck Amanda. "If James doesn't come back *sniff* what am I gonna do??? WAAAAAH..."
