Hercules Has Seen Thursday's Return Of NBC's COMMUNITY and PARKS AND RECREATION!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
NBC says of tonight’s “Community,” titled “Physical Education”:
Jeff (Joel McHale) is excited to show off his pool skills in his new billiards class, only to have his will tested when shorts, not designer jeans, are the required uniform to play. Meanwhile, the gang focuses on helping Abed (Danny Pudi) woo a potential mate by bringing out different sides of his personality.
If you thought Danny Pudi’s funny might know some limits, tonight’s episode should abate that thought. What NBC isn’t telling you about this typically hilarious Abed-centric extravaganza:
* The shorts Jeff must wear are short.
* Britta, who once lived in New York, reveals a bizarre speech deficiency.
* Don Draper gets name-checked as “Mad Men” cast member Alison Brie smiles hugely.
* Abed compares Jeff to four other people, and I found offense in the same place Jeff does.
* The climactic billiards match made me laugh aloud.
I continue to maintain that “Community” (and not “Modern Family”) is broadcast’s funniest new sitcom this season.
NBC says of tonight’s “Parks and Recreation,” titled “Woman of the Year”:
Leslie (Amy Poehler) is outraged when Ron (Nick Offerman) wins a "Woman of the Year" award for a project she started. Meanwhile, Tom (Aziz Ansari) is desperate to find some money to invest in a local Pawnee club.
What NBC isn’t telling you:
This episode leads one to believe a decent apartment in Pawnee can be had for $425 a month.
Two “Parks” lines that made me laugh aloud this week:
* “Both.”
* “She spent four years in jail for that.”
“Community”: 8 p.m. Thursday. NBC.
“Parks and Recreation”: 8:30 p.m. Thursday. NBC.

I'm happy for both.
-
MF is cute, but Community is easily my favorite comedy on tv right now. I'm generally happy with all of NBC's Thursday night line up.
-
i have yet to see an episode that i haven't laughed my ass off at least once. i'm just afraid it will be cancelled. my favorite bit was when abed was batman for halloween lmao
-
A website like this is going to love Community because of all the nerd references during the course of a show, also, this is the kind of site that, for some reason, would like a washed-up hack like Chevy Chase. Anyway, the show is terrible. I can't stomach it. Every single actor/actress is flat out terrible. They look like they should be in 80's screwball comedies with Corey Feldman.
-
And the way ew worded it, it sounded long. Crap, keep that phoney off this good show. That's a disappointing casting.
But looking forward to both shows this week. -
Really.
-
Community is definitely the funniest new sitcom. I actually would place second, only behind The Office.
-
Forget the abysmally rated sitcoms on sinking ship NBC, Burn Notice (which airs on NBC owned USA network, which could teach its parent network a few things on being successfully run) ends its winter finale tonight with a bang! Thursday Night on USA at 10/9C
-
I mean come on dude, you sound like a goddamn advert.
-
I've been saying Community was the funniest show (new or old) of the season since episode 2's "I didn't tell you to..." "...take your *breath* away?!". And then the Halloween ep upped the ante. I acted usually Senor Chang's recommended pickup line on a girl at a Halloween party shortly afterword WORD FOR WORD... and it absolutely worked. So I have no doubt that tonight will be great, but I'm pretty confident this is NOT something Herc's been saying all along. Welcome to the very small bandwagon. (Bandcart? Bandstroller?)
-
I've been into Community since I first saw ads because of the Soup guy being on it. But I recently started watching Modern Family and it is very solid. I put them about even. Community is more sitcom-y and often funnier but also less consistent.
-
Abed is such a great character.
-
I prefered them together with mentions of the other how's in the Office talkback.
-
You fucking plant. Make like a tree and leave.
-
MF has more balance though It gives perfect amount of screentime to every character (okay, Manny dissapeared from one of the eps, but that wasn't a writing thing.) Shirley on Community is a background prop in most episodes.
-
Having gone to a community college (ouch, over a decade ago now), Community just makes me happy with nostalgia every time I watch it. Classes were easy, you were friends with really bizarre people, the teachers were nuts, everything is scuzzy and cheap, HOT girls (the kind too hot, dumb, or unmotivated to go to real college) hanging around you as 'friends' (ok, that bit was frustrating)... It really captures the feel of community college life, and is hilarious to boot.
-
Is a god among insects and he knows it. Community rules all. Modern Family's great too, but it's a different kind of funny.
-
As the networks seem to be canceling every show I like to run more cop procedurals, chick oriented nurse/doctor procedurals, and who-wants-to-go-raw-dog-on-a-hermaphrodite-midget reality shows, I am concerned for community's well being...
-
Easily the funniest thing on television. One of the few shows out there that my wife and I would not even think of missing.
-
Community has been a huge surprise to me. The Office is suffering through a sub par season. I really look forward to Community every week.
-
So many quality shows that I like being renewed. The fact that stuff like Modern Family, Community, Archer, Superjail, and Life and Times of Tim is actually SURVIVING is fantastic. That being said, there are still great things like Better Off Ted that are failing for no reason. It seems like television may be getting BETTER though, which is a surprise.
-
except for The Office lately. I'd rather watch the reruns from the first few seasons then the new ones, but I still watch. Parks and Recreation is great, Amy Poehler is actually funny and she has a bunch of great characters around her, the best of which is either Ron or Andy.
-
Until the ep where she was doing interpretive dance and had her hair pulled back. Yowza.
-
McHale's nudity was ever so much more...pleasing on a gigantic screen. Actually, this episode was the most purely laugh-out-loud hilarious they've done this season. The whole panel killed me; everyone was lovely and odd and unassuming and grateful for the experience of this series (especially creator Dan Harmon, McHale and Ken Jeong). Gillian Jacobs is a total goddess - sweet, thoughtful, intelligent, gorgeous. She's the real-life totally evolved Britta. Actually, it's obvious that all the actors have imbued their characters with large chunks of their actual personalities, which I think is why I love this show so much. It feels authentic beneath all the insanity. And yeah, as one guy in the audience pointed out so astutely, Community really IS a reward at the end of a hard week. Bravo to them all.
-
I'm no plant, I've been posting here for years. My Burn Notice comment was just imitating the AICN and Herc style writing that pimp out their personal favorite movie/shows. It was just a simple fun comment knowing a Burn Notice season finale still won't get a talk back, while rarely watched P&R gets one every week. Sorry you two read to much into it. Peace & Love, Peace & Love! Burn Notice tonight 10/9C!!! ;P

Love peace and hair grease. Ya still smell kinda leafy...
-
are often in the same room, but never in the same camera shot… hmmm...
-
I stopped watching after a few episodes, the only thing I liked about it was when the kid from not another teen movie showed up.
I'm guessing its more for younger people, I'm 30 and to me it's way too much like Saved by the bell.
Parks is incredible though. -
I'm happy you're 30. I'm 31 and love the show. I guess I'm Peter Pan.
-
Like 99.99999%. Parks and Rec already has a renewal for next season and Community has been averaging higher ratings than Parks.
-
Events depicted in tonight's Community could neatly explain Abed's and Human Being's identical physiques.
-
"can you ever really own a horse?" community is so good. i even liked the jack black episode. maybe i'm just a cynical dickhead but the one episode of modern family i saw was smug and unfunny.
-
I'm older than you (I'm 32) and agree with Herc on this one, Community is the funniest new show on television. I don't think it has anything to do with age (though that is a perfectly good/condescending way of looking at it).
-
End of Weds. night I think Modern Family is my favorite new sitcom; end of Thurs. night I'm convinced it's Community.
-
I did not expect to like it after NBC over-hyped it last summer. I don't particularly like Joel McHale and thought Chevy Chase was more sad than funny. I'm glad I turned out to be very very wrong.
-
This Community is already so good.
-
Vamp!Abed
-
is perfect.
-
chameleon. Him and Victor from Dollhouse should do something together.
-
of moments like where she checks out Jeff's dick.
-
I REALLY hope either Community or Modern Family wins. If it's another year of 30 Rock, I'll be really disappointed. Hell, last year's almost ENTIRELY 30 Rock choices for writing was ridiculous. If these shows are over looked in that category it'll be insane.
-
So, so funny.
-
at least according to that one episode. I actually expected her to freak out a bit more. And isn't Jeff a lawyer? Felt so OOC for him to storm off in a suck against the coach.
-
every other one is watchable
-
My type of Loser. I could marry that guy.
-
Look how big that fucking kitchen is!!!
-
The cost of living is amazing!
-
but they would be less stupid if they went to the right people." Ron Fucking Swanson on this Sunday's Oscar telecast.
-
and I love Zach Braff on Scrubs...but I mean, come on.also Calvin Coolidge made me almost spit out my diet coke.

The line I immediately dictated via text message to friends was.

"The word 'bistro' is classy as shit." - Tom Haverford.
-
This was hillarious. Have to watch it again, so many funny lines.
-
Another hilarious episode. "She might as well be called Gravy Jones." LOL
-
Perfect description of Community and most of the cast. The show will be worthless in five years when you've forgotten all the pop-culture references and why they're supposed to be funny.
-
Easily the most improved show of the season and one of the funniest sitcoms on TV. I find myself enjoying it more than The Office. The characters have really come into their own and goddamn it, I feel so bad for Jerry. Poor bastard always getting shit on.
-
why would we forget all the pop-culture references in five years? Most of the pop-culture references are from old t.v. shows and movies.
-
Floundering like a season 1 episode. Community was pretty solid last night though I get tired of the Troy/Abed tags.
-
Missed opportunity to use "It's In The Way That You Use It," by Eric Clapton from "The Color of Money." In fact, I was pretty sure Jeff was imitating Tom Cruise throughout the game against the coach. Maybe they just couldn't get the rights. No matter, I'll take Warren Zevon any day of the week.
-
Prohibitive cost to use the song. Those songs aren't free to use.
-
Can I get a "Fuck yeah"?
-
