UPDATED WITH WINNER!! Herc’s Monday NO. EXPOSURE Complete-Series Giveaway!!

Published at:  Mar 01, 2010 11:19:48 PM CST

CONTEST OVER!! I provisionally declare @tbrickey022 the winner of the Northern Exposure complete series set! He or she needs to forward a shpping address!

I am – Hercules!!

All you have to do is:

1) “Follow” me on Twitter.

2) Constantly monitor my Twitter account between noon and 11 p.m. Pacific Time Monday, March 1. At some point during this window I will post a contest question on my Twitter account. One of the first to correctly answer this question via Twitter AFTER I pose it via Twitter will get his or her own copy of the Northern Exposure Complete Series Faux-Suede Satchel Edition. This is a discontinued item and will run you between $299.99 and $499.99 if you try to buy it new on Amazon.

“St. Elsewhere” masterminds Joshua Brand and John Falsey as well as future “Sopranos” mastermind David Chase worked on this show!

THE QUESTION HERC WILL POST ON TWITTER: “‘Northern Exposure’ was nominated four consecutive years for the Outstanding Drama Series Emmy. In which year did it win in that category?”

IMPORTANT!! Your Twittered answer MUST begin with @hercAICN. Don’t screw this up!

IMPORTANT!! If you answer the question BEFORE I post the question in Twitter you will be automatically disqualified.

IMPORTANT!! This contest is only available to residents of the United States.

IMPORTANT!! If you win, immediately forward Herc your shipping address and phone number: herculesAICN@yahoo.com. If you fail to do so within 24 hours, Herc will assign the prize to another.

Contestants are free to unfollow my Twitter account post-contest, but it might behoove them to remain following for two reasons:

1) I’m not a Twittering fiend. I’ve tweeted fewer than 600 times since I set up the account last April.

2) I’m going to be giving away a lot more supercool prizing via that account in the coming days and weeks. And I may be announcing these contests only on Twitter.

This post will be updated after I chose a winner.

Namaste.

Follow Herc on Twitter!!

    Season 3 the best

    by holidill

In my opinion I believe the third season of Northern Exposure (the first full 22 ep season) was by far the best. Included the classic Christmas Episode, Jesse's dead, and the whacked out Halloween episode. Plus we meet EVE and get a whole lot of Adam and Eve, including their wedding, and then we have the history of Cicely. Great season. The first few episodes of season 4 continued the greatness, but it then fell apart after that. Though 5 had some good eps as well.Season 2 was probably my second favorite.

    Why the Twitter hate?

    by thesplinter

It doesn't require a piece of your soul to join. Are you so anti the establishment that you refuse to do something just because it's popular? Or do you have trouble remembering ids and passwords? Is it an IQ issue? Do you need someone to help you figure it out?

This time, the winner won't simply be the first to respond? Have I misunderstood?

Is there a reason Hercules lets people know the question

    by big jim

before he asks it on Twitter? It seems to me it would be more fair, and less of a "whose internet connection is the fastest", if those waiting to answer had to take a couple of seconds to find the answer and type it in after it is posted. Obviously the bigger fan of the show would be more likely to know the answer. He wouldn't have to look it up, giving him, the fan, the guy who probably wants the set, an edge over those who are just looking for something free they can sell on ebay. I love the show, would love to win this set. Might even have considered joining Twitter and following Herc for a chance at it. But, alas, I am not eligible as I am not a resident of the US. Is shipping to Canada that much more than shipping to Alaska or Hawaii? Or is it filling out those international shipping forms (or whatever else needs to be done to ship outside the US) such a huge pain. By the way, regarding these DVDs, I think there was some issue with music rights. Is there replacement music throughout these episodes, or was it just for a few select songs?

re: the music issue. I believe seasons 1 and 2 have the original music but people bitched about the high costs of those sets, so they used replacement music so that the licensing wouldn't be so high

Did they fix the lame music tracks in the complete collection?

    by mrekoletmelive

One of the things I loved about Northern Exposure was its use of popular music. I remember one episode specifically, where Maurice gets a German coo-koo clock, but can't allow himself to appreciate its beauty because it's so old it can't keep perfect time. The episode ended with the song "Inch Worm," and was amazing, but when I rewatched the series on DVD I was dismayed to see that CBS must have decided not to pay for the rights to the songs, so the episodes have been redone with this awful music composed to replace music, and I felt that overall it REALLY hurt the show.

    by american mythos

When I was a teenager. It was some kind of essay contest and the winners received an artist-signed poster from the show G vs. E. I loved that show and the poster was beautiful. Sadly my parrots crapped on it and chewed it up. :(

I personally would shorten the window to five hours, not eleven. Then again, it ain't my contest. Good prizes though. Hopefully the next one is just as cool if not better.

Thanks Shermdawg, I can't wait to get this! It is too bad about the lack of licensed music, but it's still a great show. Good luck to all of you on the next contest!
