ACK!!! What Is Happening At 10am having to do with the new TRON film in Austin & 24 other Globally Cool Spots?
Hey folks, Harry here -- I'm done with my Olympic following for the night... Watching that Korean skater perform to John Barry's Bond themework - well, that was the simple perfection I needed on which to call it a night. Besides, I have to set my alarm to get up in a few hours to see what the fuck is going on HERE in Austin - and 24 other cities you see noted beneath that damn confusing binary symbol thingamagig. Well, I'm told that it reaches zero at 10am Central time. And that the city name of AUSTIN appears along with 24 other cities all of whom have the capacity to screen 3D IMAX... and because IMAX's twitter retweeted a link to the countdown page... is this going to be an AVATAR like IMAXian presentation for the hardcore TRON geeks? Will I be donning my TRON shoes at dawn to launch into gear to beat ass somewhere - or will this just be a ticket registration? Well, if you've nothing better to do, just stare at the countdown... I bet you won't even have to refresh. All of a sudden, LASERS will dart out of your laptop chopping you up into a grid... sucking us into Disney's mainframe. You see, they've decided that artificial intelligent extras animated in some program are out of date. However, if they throw us onto the gamegrid... We'll realistically not know what the fuck we're doing, thus being awesome fodder for the cool badass characters they'll be feeding us to. But man, I've been waiting for decades to get on the game grid and when the computer digitizes my essence... I'll de-res first! I'll beat you all!!!

...Looks like I'm supposed to go to Union STation and finds some guy in a Tron Lives t-shirt and tell him 'Easter Egg.' I'm going under the assumption that he would give me a code I'm supposed to enter on the site.

So what am I expected to do here? Click refresh all morning waiting for my city to pop up? That doesn't seem very organized to me. Sigh. But, I'll probably do it because I love Tron. Damn it Disney.

People walk around wearing Tron shirts all the time. So- which geek are we supposed to stop and accost? Is this like the Joker promotion where people met up, put on make up, and had pictures made?

That once all the codes from all the cities are entered it will revel a new poster or perhaps a trailer.

If I click on the "Flynn Lives" icon from the site I get linked to the original page wich now has an update that reads "UPDATE - THE MEET UP IS TONIGHT. 9:30PM SHARP. AT THE CUL DE SAC NEAR 1st AND J STREETS.". There is a link to google maps which then gives the adress of the location. If you click on the address it changes the map to a nondescript suburban neighborhood in Hull, MA which is situated approximately 10 min. from my house. This is a very strange place to set up a viral marketing scheme as it is in the middle of nowhere.

I guess Google maps has the wrong info posted in the "Get directions" portion as the original map does include a "J St." which is in San Diego. My bad...

On the site, 3 thumbnail looking pictures have popped up to the right of the list of cities and if you click on the pictures they flip over to what looks like 3 pieces of a picture puzzle

I raced to the Boomers Arcade in San Diego (with my 4 year old in tow!) and got there just after the guy who won. I guess he guessed it might be there and just hung out there most of the day! So, I took my son mini-golfing. Does anyone know if any of the latecomers were thrown a bone anywhere? I couldn't even get the tshirt guy to respond to me.

It looks like it's just the trailer since the screen is only booked for 15 minutes. I was hoping against hope there was a 70MM print of TRON as well, or at least an advance screening of Alice, but 'twas not to be. Maybe there'll be some swag.
