Learn Which LOST Vet Is Booked To Play Chin Ho In The Pilot For CBS’ HAWAII FIVE-0 Remake!!

Daniel Dae Kim, who’s already spent nearly six years in Hawaii shooting “Lost,” will be there at least a little longer.
The actor, familiar also to fans of “Angel” and “24,” will step into the sizeable shoes of Kam Fong to play Chin Ho Kelly in the pilot for CBS’ remake of “Hawaii Five-0.”
The remake is overseen by writer-producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who collaborated with “Lost” co-creator J.J. Abrams on “Alias” “Fringe” and last year’s “Star Trek” movie.
Alex O’Loughlin, star of CBS’ one-season wonders “Moonlight” and “Three Rivers,” is reportedly being sought to play Steve McGarrett, head of Hawaii’s fictional Five-0 state police agency.

The guy has charisma when he uses his Aussie accent that completely evaporates when he talks American. Much like Anna Torv and that girl who played the Bionic Woman (who is English, yes I know).<p> But good for Kim. Hopefully it will work out for him.

I'd love to see Josh Holloway as either Sonny Crockett...or Crockett Jr. in either a spinoff or rebooted reboot of Miami Vice. <br><br> Think about it, while I don't totally hate the Vice film, if you took another stab at it, lightened it up a hair and had Josh and someone like....Dwayne Johnson...who desperately needs something like that to get him back on track, it may very well be a hit. <br><br> I'd certainly watch that over another CBS procedural with a catchy theme song.

...will last as long as the Bionic Woman or Knight Rider did. Liked it back in it's day; became a hit because of Jack Lord and the fact there were only 4 channels to choose from in the 60s. Now...no chance. This will be as relevant as the reboot of DOLLHOUSE in 2035.

One of the edicts for the original Hawaii Five-0 was that Hawaiian actors were to play Hawaiian roles. Kam Fong (Chin Ho Kelly) was Hawaiian as were many of the supporting characters. This generated a lot of goodwill from the local communities and helped (along with the locations) to make Five-O feel authentic. No offense to DDK, but I won't be surprised if his casting doesn't cause some controversy.

on the cynical, impatient TV networks that demand INSTANT hits, it has to be new and unique enough as to not alienate the younger viewers who didn't grow up watching Hawaii 5-0, but also not anger the older crowd who would tune in for a dose of nostalgia. </BR> It has to be reverent, not disrespectful, to the classic series, but also offer something original enough to engage people so they don't feel like they're watching a retread. </BR> I'm not so sure this can do that, but I'm open to it. </BR> But I feel remakes, especially on TV, have a harder row to hoe than movies do. </BR> Good luck Jin!

They gotta have someone good for everyone's favorite recurring Asian criminal mastermind. Sawyer as Sonny Crocket? Perfect idea! I hated the Vice film with "Black Irish Douchebag Sidekick Sonny Crocket". Worse casting since John Wayne played Genghis Khan.

After In Bruges I really don't see how anybody can hate the guy. Don't blame the cast, blame Mann. Also Farrell's coming in Peter Weir's new film this year. Guaranteed to be more badass and manly than The Expendables.

...episode of Star Trek Voyager (Blink Of An Eye from the sixth season, I believe). I'd totally forgotten that he was in it, probably because the guy actually speaks absolutely perfect English. Which is only meant as a compliment regarding how good he is on Lost. Checked his IMDb page and found that he's actually done a ton of TV work. So, ya know, glad he's got a new gig.

Really, it was the fucking biggest no-brainer ever to cast Daniel Dae Kim as Sulu. Maybe his Lost commitments prevented it from happening. Surely they could have fit it in though, Sulu was in what 3 scenes?? And with Lost over he could have been in the sequel as much as needed. Yet they cast fucking whatshisfuck from fucking Harold & Kumar and Flashfuckwad!!

They are newer characters, Chan is basically a guest star. The only male asian Lost vet is the guy who plays Jin. THE END.

Dr. CHANG, not "chan", aka Edgar Haliwax, aka Marvin Candle, has been on the show since season 2. Four year. And Miles has been on since season 4. Two years. So yes, they're LOST vets. </BR> And I wasn't putting them up as contenders for this subject line, but examples of "asian people on the show" since more than a few of you seem to think there's only one asian character on the show. </BR> The 'vet' part didn't come into it. But I'd say a recurring character thats been on 2-4 years is definitely a vet.

Well my barber's this middle aged italian dude and he's got the Playboys out too but he doesn't charge anything to read 'em. In addition if you have to wait to get cut he whips out the brandy for free. I tells ya it makes for some pretty lively conversations while chillin'. In addition when it's quiet he stands outside his shop and flags down his regulars he sees who he deems need a cut. He caught me a few times.

I'd like to apologize for mistaking Asif Mandvi with Aziz Ansari in a talkback from a few days back. I've never seen any Ansari and way too much Mandvi. So whenever people spoke of Ansari I thought they meant Mandvi... Really I'm not the type to mix up my southern asians. Heck I lived in India for a few months a couple of years back.
