When Will The Full TRON LEGACY Trailer Arrive?? + Is There More TRON In Our Future??
Merrick here...
...with two interesting tidbits teasing the future of TRON. This first bit comes from The Great Gonzo:
...apparently (Disney) the top brass is so psyched about Tron: Legacy that they'e planning a TV show for 2011 & 2012 (probably for Disney XD). No news on whether it will be animated or live action. They're also already planning another Tron film for 2013.
Of course, if Legacy bombs at the BO, this will all get cancelled ASAP. But, right now, they're really behind it.
Also, Wall-E Wonka (a highly trusted source) revealed the following about when we can see a full-length trailer for TRON LEGACY.
Expect the new Tron Legacy trailer at the beginning of the ALICE movie (in both 3D and IMAX) on March 5th in theaters. It will run almost 2 1/2 mins
All I want is for someone to develop TRON toys that have that look right in terms of their internal effects (i.e. the parts that should be glowing /illuminated actually doing that, etc.) That would turn me completely Geekasmic. Dont' forget, you can still get this 5" vinyl Mickey Mouse as TRON Warrior figure (available HERE). Kinda cute, but a little pricey for my budget. AND...it doesn't glow, damn it.

trailer me now fuckers!
-
Just give me the Trailer
-
It can't happen!
-
Sorry, I'll take the latter. I don't get THAT excited about movies or comics.-Cheers
-
Never usually let myself get too excited but another bloody Tron film! The first one was a failure though wasn't it? Hope the twenty odd years of love growing for it will help
-
This, more than anything else, is the most excited I've been about a movie since... well, since as long as I can remember. I CAN'T WAIT!!!
-
Has always been a bit better when it’s remembered vs. actually watched. Great concept, cool visuals, but much of the film has that weird feeling of Disney’s forced family-ness that kind of messes with the tone (not nearly as bad as the Black Hole which has that old goofy robot Bob and then ends with Maximilian shredding Maximilian Schell). With those films 70’s early 80’s, Disney still didn’t seem comfortable with completely breaking the formula. I think that albatross is gone now, and the prospect of a more straight on action/adventure film could be great. The comic-con teaser/test trailer looked great, and after thinking about this I have a strange urge to try and enter the MCP cone or shoot some spiders with a glowing blue joystick.
-
...stoked that Boxleitner and Bridges are both back. Those were musts. Wish David Warner was in there somehow. My only regret right now is that Wendy Carlos is in no way involved. That's criminal. I'm sure Daft Punk is good, but there is zero reason for Carlos to not be involved. Her score is as important and iconic to Tron as any of the characters or visuals.
-
Avatar Money with this thing.
-
My 5 year old son asked to watch it, so I popped it on. Maybe I had the nostalgia goggles on, but we popped some corn (I had a couple of beers, so maybe that factors in too) but I loved it.
Sadly, afterwards I tried playing a MAME version of the old arcade game. Mopuse and a keyboard just doesn't work. You need the paddle wheel and that perfectly replicated movie joystick. -
This is so cool! There is something really special brewing with Tron legacy. Its like this magical feeling like the whole project is special. Like Lighting in a bottle. Anyone else getting this very strong vibe for Tron Legacy?
-
No, bro, not really. as much as I'd like to think it's going to be balls-out crazy shit-fest awesome, I don't know. But hey, the fucking Dude's back!
-
Not a bad film, quite entertaining actually. Maybe it was just that the first time I re-watched it (after not seeing it for 10+ years was when it hit DVD). I had probably built it up too much in my mind. Beer certainly helps. As for the game, when I was a kid for whatever reason if I could have my own full sized machine I always wanted either Tron or the original Star Wars vector graphics version.
-
I've loved TRON since it was released and it saw it in theaters. My wife thinks it's awful, but I've rarely found a woman who enjoys it. Oh well. I miss the TRON arcade games as well (Discs of TRON was great too).
Black Hole...Maximillian was killed by Bob and Maximillian Schell ended up wearing the shell of the robot's armor as he stood in what was implied to be hell. I always liked the Black Hole and there really was very little family friendly in that movie. It was the first non-G Disney movie ever and with a modern rating system would have likely ended up with a PG-13 just from Anthony Perkins getting shredded like he did. -
also if you want to see him in Dude mode, you could always go see Men Who Stare at Goats
-
When will it be released? This fucking movie robbed me already of a 2009 Daft Punk album AND a new Wendy Carlos score. I just want a Daft Punk soundtrack album. Now.
-
Try to make a good film first.
-
Basically a new Daft Punk album. Well up for this film.
-
I will be onboard to the end.
-
The original Tron was a major piece of shit. It looked cool, but the movie made me barf.
-
"So Jeff, you finally won an Oscar! What are you doing Next?!""Tron: Legacy."
-
Search your neon blue frisbees, you know it to be true.
-
Cant wait for T:L. If you didn't see the original in the theaters, I can see why you might not think it's all that good a movie, but for it's time it was cutting edge, maybe it's one of those films that had a bigger impact if you saw it in the theaters, you were familiar with the technology of that time, you used it, grew up with it.Regardless, I have high hopes for T:L and I hope I am not let down. So far from what I have seen, so good...but I haven't seen very much, and I sure don't want to have to go to see what is almost certain to be another Tim Burton remake abortion (Alice In Wonderland) to see the full blown trailer. Then again, both my g/f and her daughter wanna see Alice so I may be dragged to it. Ehhhh...at least I will have the trailers to enjoy.
-
....to get my first look at a 3D 'CONVERSION'.... I'll be interested to see how it stacks up against the look of 'Avatar' which was actually FILMED using 3D cameras to begin with....Sure hope the 'Tron' trailer IS attached, for extra bonus points.
-
...so Disney is big into Tron. It must be pretty awesome for Sean Bailey to go from being a producer to the head of Disney motion pictures. The good thing is he favors geek material. Disney's slate will be interesting again.
-
Avatar wasn't 3D in the 3 dimensional sense. it was just like looking through a viewmaster but the images moved. those who felt like they were imersed in the movie must have been high.
-
But even now, if you look hard enough, every few years you might find a screening of Tron on the big screen. About 10 years ago there was a screening in Long Beach of a really beautiful 70mm print. It was really amazing! I dunno.. so far I think I like the original lightcycles better =)
-
I saw this not too long ago, being just a bit too young for it the first time around. I'm sure if I was old enough at the time I would have flipped for this movie, but it felt kind of flat. Someone who mentioned 'disney family friend-ified' was right on. I still enjoyed it though. What was up with Flynn making out with the female program though (her name escapes me)? I thought she was Tron's girl but maybe computer programs have loose stances on relationships, I don't know. Bit was also somewhat retarded.

I'm actually anxious as Hell to see Alice In Wonderland
by watch_the_birdie
Normally, Alice is a gay story, but its got a dark tone and Tim Burton directed it, and I'm a big fan of Tim Burton, and now this Tron trailer? I so wanna see Alice.
-
And she should be included in Tron Legacy. This quote from a retrocrush.com's front page recent article on her sums it up nicely, "Cindy’s practically a walking commercial for that movie, faithfully promoting the Tron franchise on her website and convention appearances (exclusive retroCRUSH tip, she may be at April’s Wonder-Con in San Francisco)....How can putting even just a cameo of Cindy in this movie not be a great thing for everyone involved."
-
twice
-
i felt like i was immersed in the movie.and i was high.
-
Tron Legacy should at least make money as a 3D release. If it turns out to be good and it bombs because the plot is too complex for todays Pandora retards, then that sums up what's wrong with the audience.
-
as if this plot will be complex at all. Get off your high horse, it's only an illusion.
-
I think this movie could make more money than Avatar, especially with its probable repeat watchability. In 3D, could be awesome. This is a sequel worth making, for once.
-
With a great writing team of course. I just hope they don't have the anime influence. I want the full-on Max Fleicher-style. Square chins and all.
-
....bring back Automan!
JUST KIDDING! I'm really looking forward to this:-) (though I think Automan will probably see a DVD release if Tron is a success;-) -
let's have an update on that game please
-
does anyone know if flynn is supposed to be bad in this one? like a new mcp? or are the good guys and bad guys on a more level playing field in this one?
-
The 80's are definitely back as evidenced by recent/upcoming film releases that are either sequels or modern versions of older classics, but where's more news on the sequel to THE LAST STARFIGHTER?

COULD WE GET SOME NEW FUCKING IDEAS FOR FUCK SAKES?!?
by tehcreepythinman
Really, making a sequel to a shitty movie, that only geeks fucking like, almost 30 fucking years after the original?!? The ONLY reason this is getting made is because Jeff Bridges was in Iron Man which made some serious bank!!!FACT!!!
-
A Fleischer style Tron series would be very, very cool! =D I'd love to see that. Or maybe a Genndy Tartakovsky treatment like he did with the Clone Wars 2D series.
-
Let's be real. But it will be awesome, and I will go see it, and if there is a sequel, then I will go see that. And I may catch a few Tron: Extreme Teen Adventure on Disney XD if they go that route, just to see.First movie is great, BTW. If you don't get it, that's cool, but it's a great frickin' movie. Not like Xanadu, which is a movie I absolutely love to death, but I know is not a great movie."Bring in the logic probe!"
-
I can't get me enough TRON! It just hit before its time and people just didn't understand computers or why they were interesting. I'd love to see TRON blow up into a huge sci fi franchise.
-
and anybody else that thinks that TRON:LEGACY will make as much money as AVATAR....... YOU'RE ON CRACK!! Nobody can be that naive. I assure you, TRON:LEGACY will make less than 200 million domestic, and be lucky to make 500 million worldwide. AVATAR will make 2.5 billion worldwide and possibly 3 billion.
-
And AVATAR totally fucking rocks!
-
I almost teared-up with joy after reading about a 2min Tron: Legacy trailer next month. Those who didn't like the original should stay away of the 2nd one. Don't nobody wanna hear how computer illiterate you really are!
If the marketing is done right for the rest of the year. Tron Legacy could very much end up like Avatar.
AN ATTRACTION...
Hell, it wouldn't surprise me Avatar remains in IMAX 3D for over a year !

AVATAR Was Great, And I Look Forward To The Sequel, But...
by laserpants
I'm WAY more psyched about T20N.
-
I have been able to quote Tron almost from end to end since I was in Elementary school. It is among my top five favorite movies ever...I cannot wait for this sequel and I hope it retains the spirit of the original, even with all the technological advances.
-
SHOW ME THE 13!!!!
-
It will be on XD and it will be animated.
-
but this is serious icing! hope the trailer is 3D...frank wants one of them fancy new disc things...those who don't like the original will eventually be DEREZZED...ULTRATRON is my hero....END OF LINE
