MERLIN Teleporting From NBC To Syfy!!
I am – Hercules!!
“Merlin,” the BBC import whose first season ran on NBC last summer, will see its second season aired on NBC’s cable sister Syfy.
Syfy will start repeating the 13 season-one episodes in April and run the 13 new second-season episodes over the summer.
The BBC has already ordered a third season of the “Harry Potter”-ish series, which follows the fabled Merlin and Arthur when they were teens.

It's better than that awful Robin Hood series and the acting/stories/script are actually quite good. I guess it helps they have a 5 year plan for the series.
-
What should we expect? I've seen a few eps of Demons on BBCA and am hoping it will pick up steam...
-
Wow - amazing you answered my question just before I posted it... Thanks!
-
to work this as an alternate universe thing whereby the future is not necessarily the one we know?
-
... so the bbc cancels this sorry excuse for entertainment.
-
My wife who is not as interested in every fictional show that comes out really like it too. So it is something we can watch together. Also I don't really watch alot of Television these days but I did make a point of seeing this! This is a series worth pursuing!
-
... the only way I can enjoy this is to pretend that it's a prequel to `Monty Python and the Holy Grail'. Otherwise it's just turgid and overlong ...
-
I don't believe anyone in America is watching it, hence the move to Siffy.
-
Arthur and Merlin as teenagers together just annoys me. I realize that there's a temptation to always put "a fresh spin" on classic stories when you retell them, but honestly... There haven't been that many straight adaptations of this material, and none that take advantage of the long format of an ongoing TV series. "Rome" managed to be pretty awesome despite the fact that it was ground well traveled and events well known (although they took their own liberties with history, there wasn't a big "concept" to the premise.

How is this show Harry Potter like?
Because their Brits and there's magic involved? -
I TiVo'd the first series and after watching the first 5 minutes of the first episode I turned it off... laughed... and said to myself... how silly/stupid/harry potter/dumb/childish.
Then, the series sat on my TiVo for 3 months until one day I was bored and decided to give it a watch.
Now? I LOVE IT! Best series ever! Reminds me of old Sinbad movies... a new creature introduced in each episode, great characters, funny, fun, cool... where else can you see Knights and Jousts and all that good stuff.
Long live MERLIN!! -
This show is so good! It was a dumb move for NBC to try and put it on their flagship channel. SyFy just makes sense. Now if they could only get "Being Human" they could have a "British Invasion" night of TV. Too bad they lost Doctor Who...
-
Just an excuse to get more mileage out of the old Tudors sets.
-
i feel bad that i can't name a decent british drama that is on at the moment. i hate to say it, but skins is probably the best thing we have, and i hated typing that.
-
I am very happy to hear this. I've been watching season two on You Tube each episode chopped into 5 parts, so it'll be nice to see it on a large screen. Question though, why won't they put Merlin on BBC America like they did Robin Hood? Merlin is much better than that show. Season 2 was excellent, btw.
-
If we're talking about stuff which is on this week, there's practically no good British drama on right now - with the exception of Being Human, which is simply superb. Recently, there has also been Misfits which was good but not great. For shows coming soon, I recommend watching this insanely brilliant trailer for upcoming BBC dramas: http://tinyurl.com/y8ajp43 . They're mainly high-quality one-offs and mini-series, but the new series I'm most looking forward to is Luther with Idris Elba.
-
I love the fact, that the show is back!
-
My son and I love this show. I know there are a lot of Arthurian zealots who despise it, but I watch it for the "fun" aspect of it. and the actress that plays Morgana. Mmmmm.
-
THERE GO YOUR RATINGS...and oh yeah, SCI-FI....REALLY? THIS DOO-DOO?? OVER THE Lost Room? FUUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOOOUUUU!
-
Kind of disappointed it won't be on NBC again. If it's on cable, why isn't it just on BBC America?

Granted I've only seen the first Season of Merlin, but I don't think they use the same sets; they look nothing alike. I do know they share a connection with Katie McGrath - Merlin's Morgana got boned by a horny Henry.
-
it's the only slightly 'adult' show that I like that I can watch with my five year old daughter. So I'm glad it's coming back.
-
Way better produced, an increased budget, they took what was good about the best episodes of season 1 and spread it across all season 2. I enjoyed the heck out of it, even the more comedy troll 2-parter (King Uther falls in love with a beautiful woman who is, in fact, a disgusting troll). The guy who plays Arthur really stepped up a gear and owned the whole season.
-
Second season's been pretty cool. It's got some cheese, but I like the characters and story. And I won't lie, the babes keep me coming back. Best looking chicks on television.
-
another L&o series? more biggest loser? heroes? It's a better cost-saving move then Leno, to just import successful series from other countries.
-
This is a great show - for KIDS. Like Dr Who. Now, I know that Harry Potter is a kids thing, and I like it loads - but the very BEST kids films and TV cross the gap and are great for anyone - ET, Star Wars, Potter... This, however, is for the kids and no more. Really. Adults, move along.
-
LOS is a really cheesy show, but it's also captured my interest and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Also Kalyn is so damn hot.
-
You know.. entertaining for all ages, not just kids. I agree with performingmonkey, the second season was vstly better than season 1 and I enjoyed season 1. It kept getting better with comical and romantic stories adding up to more than a childrens show and more of family drama. Don't go in expecting historical accuracy. This is the wrong show for you. It's fun and entertaining with some gorgeous cast (Morgana mmm...) for starters.
